Mr. Kichards and the Nepni representative scontacted Public Service and received their approval the lor the route and operation ofofficcarrier. Geneva Steel works ials were contacted later Monday alternoon, and they expressed their willingness to place the Nephi men on the same shift, in order that the bus line could carry full loads. They are doing everything possible at that end to assist in getting the line in immediate operation. The necessity of having the bus is guaranfully underwritten, that or teeing so much per trip, y so much period per mile for the thirty-da' Idllawing the start of the, bus opthe at taken eration was also discussedup pro and meeting. The committeemen were to meet with the. City council in a special meeting Thursday evening. It was pointed out that there will be at least 30 to 35 who will ride the bus every day from the starting run, andd that this amount necessary to will be the pay-loainsure profitable operation without calling upon the underwriters for the deficiency balance. Those men who are working at Geneva and who do not radily see the advantages of the bus line should take into consideration the fact that there are absolutely no new tires for passengr cars, and that the recaps are being cut down drastically each month. McCune,' co manager of the Bailey-McCuRite Way stores was last Friday evening selof ected president the Nephi Business Men's association, at a meeting held in the Nephi City hall. The meeting was attended by a large number of local business men, and several important matters were discussed. The principal item discussed and acted upon was the formation of a committee to work with those already in existence, to obtain a bus from Nephi to Geneva. Since the meeting, the bus line has been secured, and another item in this paper fully explains the action taken. Insofar as filing the vacant homes in Nephi was concerned, the ne matter was until the "shelved" bus line becomes operative, and at that time proper steps will be taken to have proper advertising, rental bureau headquarters, etc, available in order to fill each of the homes in Nephi which is now vac- ant A committee was named to discuss with meat dealers and the city officials the desirability of the city taking over the slaughter house. It was pointed out at the meeting, that the present owner of the slaughter house, Brent D. Hall, was contemplating discontinuing the slaughtering service, because of the labor shortage, and fo rthis reason the meat dealers of Nephi would be required to obtain all meats from packing houses n Salt Lake City. Such a procedure would mean that the animals would have to be trucked to Salt Lake City for the processing, and the meat shipped to Nephi, putting an ultimate six cents per pound On the - cost of meat to the consumer. If the city can take over the slaughter "house, and have it operated in conjunction with some other part-tim- e job, it will give full time The "employment for one man. slaughter house Is entirely and the city officials would be doing every person of Nephi a big service if a plan could be worked out whereby they could operate it. The saving in the meat price alone would be a very big item in the food costs of every household. Gerald Belliston was named as secretary of the organization, and various (fier businessmen were named as heads of the organization committees. -- Did you get out Dear Mom: that old toy train I used to have and send it to the Scrap Depot.
