Show It Pays To It Pays Tc Shop in Nephi Shop in Nephi Nephi, Juab County, Utah, Thursday, June Volume 32 Club Observes All Kiwanis Night Gift Presented To A. L. Jetty At Monday Evening Affair L. J. Wade past president of the Nephi Kiwanis club delivered a very able address before the members of the Nephi Kiwanis club and their partners Monday night evening at the banquet at the South ward re- creational hall. The meeting was in charge of Vice President Wilford Pratt, and Herman McCune acted as toastmaster. All clubs of the United States and Canada held meetings Monday evening and at the same time the International convention was being held at Atlanta, Georgia, with every delegates from practically club in the organization being present. The message from the International President Mark A. Smith was read 'to the club. The message was as follows: "Fellow Kiwanians from Canada and the United States: "Once again the pages of the calendar have turned and we tonight celebrate this 'fellowship hour.' How significant those words! I am not for one moment forgetful of the unrest in the world today, of the seeming uneasiness which possesses us all at times; neither am I forgetful that this unrest, and this uneasiness can be, and will be, overcome only when we turn again in sincerity and with utmost faith and deep reverence to the God of our fathers. If there Is any power in this world today that can make itself felt, it Is the power . of God. "It is an inspiration to stand here tonight, realizing full well the importance of this hour. We have seen history changed, not over a period of years, or months, but even weeks and days; yes hourly news is flashed over the radio, printed in the newspapers, with such rapidity as to alarm all of us. The characters of great men are the dowry or a nation, and God grant that the great characters of nistory.wiii nve again ioaay. me bravery of the British people shows what can be accomplished by the practice or common virtues, diligence, patience, thrift, self denial, determination, industry and persis tence, ana above all else Faith that right will win. We look with ner- fect amazement at the instances of the resistless force of preservance. "If we fail to experience this faith then our defense program will avail us nothing; our boys in the camps training intensively to "fun ction in any emergency"' will feel that we have not carried through with them. Let us have faith strong enough to carry out our program; let us believe in our individual responsibility; let us believe we have a place no one else can fill, a service no one else can render; let us remove from our minds this impediment of doubt, of uncertainty and Dear in mma mat me woria in its very heart admires determination and certainty. People may smile at the enthusiasm of youth, but we do best the job in which we are keenly interested and with enthusiams we may retain the youth of the spirit, even though our hair is silvered. If we give ourselves wholly to our work as citizens then our program will not fall short. "We are primarily a service club, and the great purpose of our organization Is cumulative; and like a great magnet, it attracts all that Is kindred. Service and concentration are the keynote of today. It is his great purpose of Kiwanis which gives meaning to our efforts; it unifies all our undertakings, binds us together in one cable and makes strong and united what otherwise would be weak, separated and scattered. Scientists estimate that there is energy in less than fifty acres of sunshine to run all the machinery in the world, if it could be concentrated. But the sun might blaze out upon the earth forever without setting anything on fire; although these razed focused by a burning glass would melt solid granite, or even change a diamond Into vapor. The membership of Kiwanis, of some 113.000 men taken separately can do little, but banded together as we are, with a concise and definite program In mind, can accomplish much. Concentration makes the difference between success and failure.
