V:V J y x. Mill A $22,500.00 improvement program is going ahead this week at the Juab County Mill & Elevator Company property at second west and tirst north streets in Nephi. The vast works will include the erection of additional storage elevators, and new machinery for the plant. The initial concrete work was started at the site Monday, when the foundation and floor of the elevators was laid. The floor, which . will take the great weight of the high walls and the 25,000 bushels of grain which will be stored in the our compartments of the new ele vators, is practically three feet thick. The walls of the structure will be seamless, the cement being poured continually from the time the work began Thursday until the structure is completed. lhe work will be handled m a manner the same as used in the building of large storage elevators for the church Welfare Organiz ation in Salt Lake City some weeks The forms will be in large ago. yokes, and as the cement is poured these yokes will be lifted by huge screw jacks. The jacks, yokes and other necessary materials used in the Salt Lake job have been brought to Nephi for the mill job. The mill officers announces that the labor on the construction, with the exception of the foreman, will be done by Nephi men only. Three complete crews will be at work on the construction, and the work will progress with three shifts each day. The additional storage capacity will grve the mill ample storage to handle the large portion of the wheat grown in East Juab county. The various grades of wheat can be stored in their own compartment in the elevators, which, will supplement those now in use at the mill. Further development work by the local concern includes the construction of a large warehouse at to urnjsh the Flagstaff, cllentel iir"Arijna with 'Nephi's high grade flour. The flour will be trucked to the Arizona warehouse, and from there distributed to numerous retail outlets over the entire state of Arizona. The additional markets in Arizona for the Nephi made flour will of necessity increase the production of thet local plant and tentative plans call for increasing the force of workmen at the mill to keep the plant operating extra shifts each day. This will increase the. payroll at the mill, increase the market for Nephi farmers' wheat and Nephi flour, and all in all assist Nephi's prosperity. Following the installation of additional machinery at the mill, all sacks will be machine sewn, to increase the speed with which they are handled, and the appearance of the bags for marketing purposes. The capacity of the plant, after the addition of the bag sewing and other machinery, will be about 200 barrells daily.
