Homecoming Ephraim's fields are now receiving an additional amount of irrigation water because of a long tunnel which has been completed through the mountains, and So Ephraim people are going to celebrate. They are going to be joined by thousands of former residents of Ephraim, many of whom were forced to move away because of a lack of irrigation water to make farming profitable and support an increased population.of, the And so the celebration completion of the tunnel project is being combined with a homecoming event, the like of which the town has never attempted beand fore. EVENING The Ute Stampede band will appear in concert next Tuesday evening at 7:15, at the playgrounds, according to an announcement by Elmo Brady. The band concert will be proced-e- d by two softball games, starting at 6 P. M., and followed immediately afterward (at 8 P. M.) by tennis matches between Nephi and Eureka players. The general public Is Invited to witness the entire entertainment, and bleachers are to be provided near the courts for their comfort. Crews of men have been working in the Fool Creek pass area and the Tin-ti- c area and the crickets are rapidly diminishing. Millions of crickets, however, are still on some of the farms. G. R. Judd, County supervisor on the cricket project, reports that the poison spray is meeting with great success, and the men are working diligently in an effort to free the county of the pests. Mr. Judd reports that the crickets are now laying their eggs, which Is not a very good indication for the cricket problem next year. It is hoped, however, that these eggs can in some manner be destroyed before they hatch. Mr. Thornley, in charge of the cricket extermination projects of the state, called at Nephi a few days ago in an effort to check up on the cricket areas. No definite decision has been made as to who they are to invite, but they have given the assurance that people of prominence in the entire state will be invited to come to Nephi for the celebration and the 36 prizes.
