Some of them can be warded off others are insidious in their methods, and the damage they do can be offset only by insurance. We have a policy exactly suited to your needs and would like an opportunity to explain it to you. A little consultation before writing a policy often saves trouble and great expense. Visit us, or let us visit you. For some years past there has been considerable discussion in and around Nephl In regards to diversified farming, and practically everyone In the community realizes that one of the fundamentals of success In agriculture is diversification, in other words don't put all your eggs In one basket, so to speak. During the past few months a number of persons have gone into the chicken business, which is one of the best things that could possibly happen, but everybody doesn't want to go into that line of work, so we should figure out other ways and means of making a living. It is all well and good for the man who wants to raise thickens, operate a large cattle ranch, be a sheep grower, or operate a dry farm, but In addition to all these individual professions, there should be other types of farming that will occupy the time and efforts of more people. During a recent visit to Juab Valley by Director William Peterson of the Extension Division of the Utah State Agricultural College, he stated that the possibilities of developing underground water In Juab Valley were Just as great as that Think what that would mean to adjacent to Brlgham City. would mean to have approximately this valley think what it ten thousand acres of the lowlands in this valley under irriIt out for yourself what it would mean to gationFigure Nephl to have 500 additional families located on twenty acre farms, with plenty of water to operate a diversified farm where they could have a dairy herd, a small truck garden, chicken ranch, or anything that they may desire. Stop for one minute and visualize what this would mean If we make up our mind to put this project over, it can be done, but it cannot be done by everybody laying down on the Job. WE MUST PUT OUR SHOULDER TO THE WHEEL AND PUSH First National Company Loans ALONG. WE SUGGEST THAT ALL THOSE WHO OWN LAND WITHIN THE PUMPING AREA GET TOGETHER AND ORGANIZE A DEVELOPMENT PROJECT, AND INVESTIGATE THE POSSIBILITIES OF GETTING UNDERGROUND WATER VISIT BRIGHAM CITY AND SEE WHAT THEY ARE DOING FIND OUT IF THE UTAH LIGHT AND POWER COMPANY WILL RUN A POWER LINE INTO THIS AREA, AND THE COST OF POWER and then put the project over, and make a bigger and better Juab Valley make a home for 500 additional families IT CAN BE DONE. Salt Lake Highway courtesy in its simplest form provides one of the most effective ways of facilitating the smoother flw of traffic and preventing accidents, according to the Motor Safety League of Utah, which is engaged in a state-wid- e safety campaign and program. The cooperation of every car owner in extending reasonable courtesy to other users of the highways, will make it an immediate success. "Take the- - question of signals for stopping, making turns and back- ing," says the Safety League, "as an example of courtesy. Inquiries' Indicate that many drivers do not! consider the giving of signals prim-- 1 arlly as a mark of courtesy. Through the cooperative efforts of the forest service department and Juab County there has been expended approximately ten thousand dollars, and with the expenditure of this amount of money, there Is now a wonderful highway, second to none in the entire forest service, which if it had to be constructed today would cost upwards of fifty thousand dollars. By using about five miles of the old railroad right of way, it is estimated that Nephl or Salt Creek Canyon has one of the finest canyon roads within the state of Utah. wishes to compliment the forest service The Times-New- s officials and the county commissioners for their vision in realizing that a good road behind Mount Nebo would be a valuable asset to the state of Utah and to Juab County. alone trying to tell the There is no use of The Times-Nepeople of the wonderful scenery that can be found behind our famous old peak, but the entire citizenry of Nephi should make a determined effort to tell the world how cool and refreshing It Is to spend a day or two In the canyon. ABG ITS FISHIN' TIME-I- N Thursday, June NEPHI, UTAH S, THE ROCKIES! It's fishln' time in the Rockies get out the rod and reel and see that they are in shape. Trout fishing season opens in Utah on June 15th. Millions of trout and other fish have been planted in the streams of the West in the last few years, by government and state, which Insures good fishing for many years to come. The authorities are doing their part to increase fishing throughout the country. Fishermen must do their part and not take fish that are undersized. If these undersized fish are allowed to grow they will be big enough to make a "mess", in a few years and all fishermen gain Just that much. Automobiles and good roads have made good fishing streams harder and harder to find. Streams that once teemed with fish are now practically barren, in spite of the efforts of state and government officials to plant them. This of course Is due to the fact, that fish are taken before they are full grown. Efforts are being made to eliminate this lack of fish in many of the streams by planting larger fish, some two and three years old. Planting of tiny fish has proved inadvisable because few of them ever reach maturity. There Is no more fun on earth than fishing. feature alone is worth the effort, then The if the effort is rewarded with a fine mess of trout or other fish there Is nothing that so satisfies the soul of the angler. There's a thrill in hooking a big one and playing him until he is captured. We in the West have a great advantage. Mountain streams are only a few hours away, and those who care to walk away from the main traveled roads can always come back with the limit. France and other European coun tries will keep out of war, if they can. But war comes like a flash of lightning. Will Rogers says the Senator lack intelligence to work the dials. Carter Glass, says Rogers, thought his dial was a rat trap and baited it with cheese. That is exaggeration. But the dial system Is far better than the old system. Any Senator Is capable of the mental effort necessary. And every Senator should encourage all substitutes for needless human labor. An Intelligent New York doctor said: "I would have the dial system if it cost f 100 a year extra." In the person of Peter Kuerten, truck driver, 47 years old, German police believe they have captured a "ripper" more dangerous and brutal than the original. Have you seen the rearing ponds that the East Juab Fish and Game Association has built in the canyon back of Nebo? And do you know that the Association is feeding thousands of trout at those rearing ponds until they are large enough to release in the main creek? And have you seen the new road from the main highway to Burriston's, built and fenced by this same Association ? And have you paid a dollar for membership in this Association that is doing all this to make it better fishing for you? If not, look around, see what has been done and join the Association. There was also a notion that If one touched such a stone to the bite of a venomous animal. It would draw the poison out.
