PETTY, Ticket Agent Contrary to common opinion good taste cannot be a permanently defined Good taste today may be the very antithesis a few decades hence. v; Taste really Is a barometer by which opinions are made or JUDGED. We are prone to consider certain people as having good taste when we find their opinions coincide with our own. Good taste may vary with conditions. For example, the Parthenon In Rome is considered well night perfection by all, yet a structure almost the exact duplicate was reproduced in concrete at Nashville, Tenn. and is frequently referred to as being in bad taste. It was once considered good taste for gentlemen to prop booted feet on the table and drink themselves under it. Few circles today would hesitate to condemn such conduct as being in poor taste. In furnishing the home, good taste is too often considered a cut and dried formula to be followed without regard to the style of architecture or the varying personalities of the occupants. Who can say that the somewhat dowdy style would be In poor taste in the apartment of an elderly woman who would be uncomfortable in a modern interior. The modern striving for originality In art has caused a confliction of opinion In critics never before equalled. The result has been good. We hesitate before condemning honest efforts to improve the home. b.- - The. ' t 9 For Disinfectants YOU SELECT A FEW BEDSPREADS LEFT We still have a small number of the Scranton lustre spreads.
