We have had some effort to get the mothers out but by advertising in our meeting well we have had a fair representation and mothers are fast becoming concerted to "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." Our children have the chance to be examined before entering school, which the largest majority take advantage of. We do not have a school nurse, but we expect to have the services of a Red Cross nurse for two months this winter. Milk is not provided for children in our school, however If any child takes milk to school he will be allowed to drink it at recess. We have had at different times courses given on dietetics and in structors sent from the Agricultural College to give lectures to mothers on the proper diet and care of their children. Sometimes we have ar ranged the fifth Tuesday in the month and all wards meet in one But place to hear their lecture. when the Red Cross nurse comes wo . pre-scho- ol will have classes on how to care for the children and the sick In their own homes. They are dip meria, scariet iever, small pox, chicken mumps, measles, pox, whooping cough, cholera, typhoid and plague. Tuberculosis among people in our state is not quarantined but we have the cattle tested for tuberculosis 'and quite often a nice milch cow has this dreaded disease and Is ordered killed. We have no regulation governing the milk or compelling pasteuriza tion and loose milk may be sold. We have only the state inspector on farm and dairy. He also inspects the food. We have no local inspector but most of the food Is protected from flies and dust. We have a meat inspector who enforces one of the most rigid Inspections on meat in the state.
