WEDNESDAY From Courthouse Promptly At Three O'CIock Flag Raising Ceremonies At Park Big Parade To Start The opening game of the baseball league will be held In Nephi next Wednesday afternoon, commencing; at 4 o'clock at the Ball Park. A big parade will leave the Juab County Courthouse promptly at three o'clock, and the preliminary exercises will be held and at the ball park at three-thirtthe game Btarts promptly at four. The parade will be headed by a color guard from Battery "E" 145th Field Artillery, followed by the Nephi high Hchool band, and in line of march will be the Nephi and Ephraim baseball teams. All of the people of Nephi and Kphraim and other visitors are asked to follow in the column, and at the baseball park the color guard, band and ball teams will march to Sanpete-Nephl-Sall- na y, the north side of the park, where the flag raising ceremonies will take place. for Nephi The probable line-u- p will be Dr. P. Aluirini Officers Select Committees At a meeting of President Paul K, Booth and the executive committee of the high school alumni association, this week, arrangements were made for holding the annual associ ation banquet in honor of the grad uating class at the high school on P. M. Friday, May 24, at six-thir- ty y . Invitations are being prepared and diligent effort is being made to secure the present addresses of all now members. The association numbers several hundreds of grad uates of the local high school scat tered throughout the state and nation as well as being represented in several foreign countries. A general invitation is extended to all alumnae of the high school together with the members of the faculty and the school board. The members of the graduating class will be honor guests. The officers state that if the entire membership of the association responds to the banquet invitation it may be neces sary to stage the banquet on the high school lawn or even extend it to the "community park' adjoin ing, but every effort will be mads to accomodate all who attend, pro vlded thty "givfc notice of inten tion" by purchasing tickets from Elgin R. Funeral services were held in the South Ward Chapel Thursday afternoon, over the' mortal remains of Mrs. Beth Howarth Svedin, wife of Henry Svedin, who passed away in a Salt Lake Hospital last Sunday, of pneumonia, following an operation lor goitre. The services were in charge of Bishop Peter B. Cowan. The opening prayer was offered by Joseph H. Greenhalgh. The speakers were: James E. Memmott, Bishop Albert E. Smith, Patriarch James W. Paxman, and The closing prayer Bishop Cowan.was offered by Wilford Belliston. The speakers spoke words of consolation of the bereaved relatives and eulogized the life of the deceased. The flowers were beautiful and profuse, and showed the high esteem in which the young woman was held in this community. The Judges made favorablo comments upon the quality of work done and encouraged all contestants to continue to cultivate the talents displayed by them in the course of the contests. Each town is to have two representatives on the committee. The meeting was sponsored by the Moroni Lions club, and was called for the purpose of getting the people of Central Utah organized to build a road into Muple Canyon. This can yon Is located about six miles west of Moroni, and is one of the mo3t unique Box canyons in the United States; a small natural bridge; and other natural scenery that is worth going hundreds of miles to Bee. The representatives from the var ious towns were very enthusiastic over Central Utah's undeveloped asset, and stressed the need of a road to the mouth of the canyon . It wai stated that people coming into this part of the state are very desirious of seeing our scenery, but they must have good roads to get to that scenery. The delegates present re ported that the towns of Sanpete county were very anxious to get a road into that beautiful canyon, and were behind the movement to build a road.
