Ixndon Mall. loco-wee- Jbr Economical Transportation Bret Harte's famous story, "The Idyl of Red Gulch," recently screened for Harry Carey's use as star, will be shown at the Venice theatre under the title of "The Man From Red Gulch". It will create a splendid impression because of its beauty, charm and thrill. Mr. Carey is seen as Sandy, a gold miner, whose life is devoted to bring ing to justice the murderer of his partner. That in this process he should meet and win the love of a charming woman, portrayed by Harriet Hammond, is quite logical. The production is in every respect a delightful one. The supporting players, notably Mark Hamilton, Frank Lee Doris Campeau, Shumway, Lloyd and Frank Norcross, acquitted themselves artistically. The picture ht is well worth seeing. If you want to forget how hot It don't fail to see "Wild Justice," the new starring production of the police dog Peter The Great, which will open Wednesday at the Venice Theatre for a two day run. Snow whole mountains of snow is piled up on the screen for a background, and much ot the action takes place in a howling blizzard. They could turn off the fans and the theatre would still seem cool. To say that the work of Peter The Great is amazing well, that's put-lin- g it mildly. Perhaps never In tbe history of the movies has a dog star dumotiHtratHl such astonishing athletic prowess, or such uncanny to understand and portray human emotions. "Wild Justice" la a stirring drama of the lonely North country, where jtititire Is swift and not always sure. You wil want to cheer when tho great dog star, apparently able to understand the situation being work ed out by tbe human actors, takes a hand In the tense game of life and death, and works out the ends of justice in his own savage way. While the burden of praise rightfully belongs to Peter The Grea t, the cast of remarkably human players must not bo forgotten. Frances Sherwood, George Tetgue and Frank Hugney have the principal rotes, and each Is Ideally cast. It In worthy of note that "Wild Justice" was directed by Chester M.
