Edgerton of Pocatello, Idaho, Delivers Forceful dress to Members of Local Kiwanis Club Ad- Luncheon and Program Held. Monday eveuing was au epoch in the history of the Kiwanis Club of this city. The occasion was the visit of District Governor J. E. Edgertqn of Pocatello, Idaho. Mr. Edgerton has supervision of the Utah-Idah- o district and is now visiting every club in this district. The Nephi club is located on the southern end of the district, and the distance to the club located on the northern end of th9 district is fifteen hundred miles. It is taking Mr. Edgerton six weeks to make the entire trip. In the afternoon a meeting of the officers and chairmen of the club was held in the Commercial Club rooms when a heart to heart talk was had on the duties of the club members and the organization in general. At this meeting Air. Edgerton, gave a digest of the work that should be accomplished by a club that is properly functioning. relative to the line of civic endeavor between the Commercial Club and the Kiwanis Club was cleared up and a better conception of the standing of each organization in the commun ity obtained. At 6.30 p. m. a luncheon was served in the High School dining room under the supervision of Miss Elsie of Maughan, assisted by a number the Domestic Science girls. President J. W. Boud, was in charge of the meeting and the following program had been arranged: Vocal Selections by the Cole Sisters, two readings by Miss Beth Hobbs, and musical selections by the orchestra, under the direction of L. In closing he urged the local Kiwanians to budget their time in such a manner that they would have a certain amount of time left each day to perform something that would benefit their fellowmen and the community in which they lived. te Defective Pulley Cause . Struck By Auto Last Night COUNTY BOARD IN REGULAR SESSION The Board of County Commissioners of Juab County met Saturday in their regular monthly meeting. Present: W. G. Orme, and John Bunnell. The other member of the commission Dr. Steele Bailey, was unable to be present on account of illness. The business transacted was practically all of a routine nature, the only exception being the passing of the ordinance requiring all horse drawn vehicles to carry a lighted lamp or lantern when traveling the state roads at night. George Belliston, now holds the highest individual score, making 200 in the game last night. The Legion team still have the highest team score to their credit. Interest is now running high in the contest and the next few games will witness some high scoring a mong the leaders. CITY COUNCIL HOLD MEETING The regular meeting of the City Council was held Friday evening. Present: Mayor Bailey, Counciimen Forrest, Pay, Sperry, Booth and Rees .Mayor Bailey, presented his list of appointements to the council, but no action was taken at the meeting, t motion to table for two weeks pre vailed hence nothing definite will be arrived at until the next meeting of the council. It is understood that some object-Io- n is being raised to certain of the appointments made by the Mayor and doubt Is expressed as to whether an agreement will be reached. i At the tegular meeting of the Post of the American Legion, held in the Commercial Club rooms Wednesday evening, two new members were initiated according to. the Legion's prescribed ceremonial, as. 3 other important business was transacted. Ross Cole, died at hia home in Eureka last Friday at the age of 47 years. Mr. Cole was born in this city, being a son of the late William and Emma Cole. He spent the early part of his life here but for a number of years past he has made his home in Eureka whero he was employed In the mines of that section. He is survived by his wife and five children, also five brothers and six sisters. There are: J, E. Cole and Wilford Cole of this city, Mrs. Elizabeth Clark, and Mrs. Cora Pexton of Springille, Mrs. Mary Ann Francom of Tremonton, Mrs. Edna Jacobsen of Provo, Mrs. Clara Hopes of Eureka, Claude Cole of Cedarhurst, Nevada, Wm. Cole of Price, Utah, Mrs. Ruby Weaver of Iowa, and David Cole, living in Northern Utah. Funeral services were held in Eureka Monday. The speakers were: Bishop Finch, Mr. Roundy, Mr. Webb and Elmer Jacobsen of Provo. Music was furnished by the choir. Inter ment took place in the Eureka Ceme tery.
