Show COUNTY. INDIAN WMB VET i , , . 1 . Nephi is the place designated as the camp grounds for the big Indian War Veterans' pow wow this year. Its former reputation for entertainment made the old veterans want to gather here again. At the meeting of the committees of the veterans of Sanpete and Juab counties held at Mt. Pleasant thi first of the week, it was decided to hold the reunion together at Nephi on the of August. 3rd, 4th, 'and 5th on the will arrive visitors The 2nd. The veterans of Emery county have also expressed a desire to camp here, and in fact, an invitation will be extended to all the veterans of the state to the come here and be shown time of their lives. The various committees are already hard at work to make this one of the biggest and be'st times ever held in Nephi. They ask the hearty cooperation of all the different clubs and business men. . Holds Commercial Glub rv Rousing Meetng. There was a good attendance Club meeting Tuesday evening. A motion was carried that the members of the Commercial Club give their moral support to the Indian War Veterans' associations in their entertainment of the veterans of at the Commercial Sanpete county and the state at the big encampment which will be held here this summer. A committee was appointed to make arrangements for the entertainment of the members of the Salt Lake Commercial Club who will visit here on May 18th. A special meeting of the Club will be held next Tuesday evening to hear the report of the committee, and perfect arrangements. The committee on county fair reported that they had obtained the necessary information, and recommended that the President of the Club call a mass meeting v of the people, and ascertain if will they support the proposition, f providing the Club takes the 'initiative. A proposition was presented to the Club that it lend its support towards the organization of a band. A. D. Plumb, the instructor for the eighth grade the coming school year, has projros-e- d to devote his spare time to the organizing and conducting of a big band provided the Club and business men will raise $300 per year to pay him for the time devoted to this work. ERANS COUNTY AB ALL THE NEWS OF EAST JUAB a Provo Thomas M. Booth was called by the Grim Reaper last Sunday. He had been ill with pneumonia for several weeks, and was getting so he could walk down town, His when he took a back-se- t. heart became seriously affected, and it was this complication that caused his death. Had Mr. Booth lived until the 21 st of this month he would have been 50 years of age. Nephi was his birth place, and early in life he engaged in the sheep business, but a few years ago, he bought the old Kienkie farm and has been engaged in farming ever since. Mr. Booth was always recog nized as a good hearted man, and fact was often better to others than to himself. He was a member of the Nebo school board, find was also a member of the Modern Woodmen, in which he was insured for $1,000. He leaves a wife and ten children to mourn his loss, ihere are four boys and six girls in his Mrs. His mother, family. Edwin Booth still survives him. E. R. Booth, J. A. Booth, Jos. in . Well Deeper. Three cheers for the State Land Board! They have decided to advertise for bids'for digging the well on the Levan Ridcre two hundred feet further down with an estimate for three hundred if necessary to strike water. Wm- Bailey, chairman of the Commercial Club committee, who has this matter in charge, has worked untiringly on this his pet project. He met with the Land Board Wednesday, and explained the importance of con tinuing the well further in order to make a good practical test, before abandoning the work. The Commercial Club members - and farmers of this district are jubilant over this decision, and are looking forward with new hope to the continuance of the well. The people as a whole are appreciative of the work of Mr. Bailey, and the substantial interest of the state land board. NEPHI NO. High School Notes SOCIETY. The members of the Ladies' Literary Club cave a nieelv ar- ranged lucheon in the Commercial Club rooms last Saturdav at noon in honor of Mrs. Belas of Salt Lake, the state nrirnnizpr of the Federation nfWnmnn's fllntis of the state. Mrs. Belas came down to explain to the Literary Club the importance of joining the state organization, and told of the important work that was being done in the way of establishing traveling libraries, Sunday closing of business houses and the like. The lecture was greatly enjoyed by all. a l The Misses Nina and Loa entertained at a bundle shower last Saturday evening in honor of Miss Birdie Ingrain whose marriage to James Sidwell will take place soon.
