The storv of the discovery of human lnUM-- ami bangles in the interior of the crocidile raptured a at Fort Johnson, llhodcsia, brings to mind another story which may appositely be recalled at the present juncture. Every body has heard of "Mrs. Macquar rie's chair," as they call the east ern point of Farm Cove, in Sydney harbor. There, says the Ht James' Gazette, it was that a poor emigrant, in preable days, killed and towed ashore a shark, cut him up, and found a London newspaper in tle internals. In the paper was the announcement of tbe war between France and Germany. The shark had outdistanced the steamer by which the mail was coming, and here the discoverer bad the fact to himself. He gave his information to a wealthy wool dealer, who bought all the season's clip at 9d. per pound, an l sold at 3s. after the news of th. war had arrived by the ordinary channel. He cleared, it is said, four millions sterling by the deal. The man who killed the shark and xtraoted the news of price well, he received a battered silk hat and a five shilling piece and unrestrained lilwrty as to the disposal of tbe shark.
