MARCH 12, 1970 V-'''-: :.IL - . - -J "N ' ' ' 1 THE FIRST MEETING of the newly formed West Millard Motor Posse Partners was held Feb. 25, 1970 at the Hancher Cafe. Twelve wives of the Motor Posse were present. Elected as president was Coral Worthen. Ann Thomas was elected Vice President. The Secretary-Treasurer was Rose Mago-wan Mago-wan and Peggy Overson will serve as Reporter. The club has plans for several new civic projects so if YOU see some unusual activity in Delta and surrounding area, don't be alarmed. It's only the Posse Partners Part-ners stirring up some dust. Local Couple To Speak Vows Bonita Rusby and Robert Rains-don Rains-don will exchange wedding promises prom-ises in Delta at the First Ward Chapel March 14, 1970. Officiating will be Bishop Lem Lovell. Bridal parents are Mr. and Mrs. James Morris and Mr. and Mrs. James Rainsdon, all of Delta. A reception will honor the couple between the hours of 7:30 and 9:30 p.m. that same evening. Their many friends are cordially invited. The ceremony and reception were scheduled to be held at Delta Third Ward. However this conflicted con-flicted with the stake meeting. Mrs. Eliason represented her state's fourteen units at the recent re-cent convention of the American National CowBeles, Washington, D. C. Mrs. Eliason presented Utah'3 president's report on a 4x4 foot illustrated pester. Display boards were provided for each state's report in the lobby of the beautiful beauti-ful Shoreham Hotel. On a yellow background, edged in brown (Utah CowBelle's colors) some of the main Ibeef promotion pro jects of Utah CowBelles were depicted. de-picted. Pictures of Governor Rampton receiving steak for Father's Day and declaring "Beef for Fathers' Day," photographs of Miss Utah Cattle Queen, Miss Kathy Lyman, Delta, her attendants atten-dants and state alternates were shown, and a picture of Johanna Cropper Johnson whose life story as a pioneer woman in. the cattle industry as written by her daughter daugh-ter Gayl J. Morris of Murray, was included as winner of the state human interest story contest. Local pictures of the Millard County cattle, range, the Millard County Junior Livestock Show, a copy of the Utah Cowbelles history his-tory of cattle in Utah, and the napkins containing the brands of many cattlemen in Utah were also displayed on Utah's poster. Courtesy tours of Congress were offered by Utah's congressmen. congress-men. Senator Wallace Bennett and Representative Laurence Burton Bur-ton provided tours enabling sep- eral of the visitors to see the Senate and the House of Representatives Repre-sentatives in action. Other interesting tours were provided by former residents of Millard County, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Nielson (Mrs. Nielson is the former Kay Henrie of Sutherland) Suther-land) and Mr .and Mrs. Morgan Jensen (Mrs. Jensen is the former for-mer Shirley Davis of Deseret). The National Library of Congress, the National Archives, the Washington Wash-ington National Art Gallery, the Smithsonian Institute, Arlington Cemetery, the Washington Monument, Monu-ment, and the Lincoln Monument were all highlights of the visit. In the suburbs around Washington Washing-ton D. Miss Petersen is a graduate of Delta High and is currently attending at-tending the University of Utah. Mr. Lovell is also a graduate of Delta High and has been attending at-tending Utah State University.. The couple is planning a March 20th, 1970 wedding and reception. The reception will be held at Hinckley between 8:00 and 10:00 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend. at-tend. Yep, she celebrated her special day Sunday. Bob and Louise Carling and their family of Bountiful came to spend the day and have birthday dinner with her. Uncle John Cahoon was a special guest, being as how his birthday is near at hand, too, on the 19th to be exact. Of course Stella received re-ceived phone calls and cards from members of her family who could not be present, so she had a happy day. Gloria Martin and her daughter, Penny of Salt Lake spent last week end with her folks, Dave and Rose Nichols. LaMoine and Blanch Bond and daughter, Laura, were guests at the Nichol home Wednesday and Thursday. They were here to attend at-tend the funeral of LaMoine's sister, Maesa Cropper. Margaret Nichol and her little sons, Brian and Bill went to Salt Lake last Saturday to attend the funeral of her uncle, Virgel Swen-sen. Swen-sen. She returned home Monday. Mrs. Cassie Johnson who is now living in Salt Lake visited her sister and brother, Vernessa and Irvin Skeem and also other friends and relatives last Tuesday and Wednesay. Clead Lovell and three sons visited visit-ed at the Deon Gillen home last' weekend. Loren and Beulah Rowley made a business trip to Salt Lake Sat-' urday. They had a brief visit with Mr. and Mrs. Grant Humphrey and they stopped in Spanish Fork a: short time to see Gary and Evelyn Webb and family, seeing the new baby for the first time. I Val Styler went to Salt Lake on the bus Friday and met his son, Arland and took care of some business. He also visited his grand- daughter, Karen Styler who was in the hospital to have the pins taken 1 out of her arm that was broken in Dec. when she was hit by a truck when she was on her way( to school at BYU. She has been teaching a class at the Y and she will graduate in June. Eldon and MarGenne Rowley and children spent the weekend in Ogden visiting a brother. MarGenne will go on to Logan to spend the week attending a workshop while Eldon and the family will return home for work ands chool. Ward and Lynda Leech and children, chil-dren, April, Charlie and Helen May, spent the weekend with their par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Short Cahoon. The Leech's live in Kearns. Voy and Carolyn Stewart and ! little son, Todd, of Salt Lake visit-j visit-j ed their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dave I Nichols over the weekend. ' High Councilman Orvil Jeffery 'visited Priesthood meeting and Sunday School and brought the program for Sacrament meeting Sunday. Speakers were Elder Ralph Moody and Mr. Jeffery. Miss Lynda Hatch, a student at BYU, sang a beautiful solo and was accompa nied by Miss Elizabeth Moody at the piano. Mrs. Donna Jeffery was a visitor in our meeting also. Dean Bishop and Ralph Peterson of Snow College spent the weekend with Dean's grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop. Scott Rowley was home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loren Rowley Row-ley and family. Scott also attends Snow College. Stake Mission President, Dr. M. A. Lyman and Elder Hansen conducted con-ducted the Missionary Fellowship class Sunday morning in our ward. Our love ands ympathy goes out to the families of Maesa Cropper, Karl Workman and Lee Grygla, at this time of mourning. It was nice to see Tony Stan-worth Stan-worth to Sunday School and the pretty little girl who was with him, Miss Chris Wright or uoaivme. Douglas Stanworth was home also to visit their padents, Mr. and Mrs. Connard Stanworth. It's, always good to have these college students come home occasionally, it really gives us a lift. Ken Skeem also visited his parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Skeem. All of these students attend school in Logan. Mrs. Ella Christensen went to Salt Lake on the bus Monday morning mor-ning to see if her doctor can help get rid of the aasthma that has American Legion Auxiliary News The American Legion Auxiliary will hold elections at its regular March 19, 1970 meeting at the post home The meeting gets under way at 7:30 p.m. Conducting the opening exercises will be members of the juniors. Nominating Committee members are Louise Allen, Ruth Steele and had her down the last week. She expects to be back on the next bus. Mrs. Ethel Stanworth went to the temple last Wednesday. Val Styler also visited his grandson grand-son and his wife in Provo, Brent and Dorene Styler and little John who was celebrating his second birthday that day. Brent is going to BYU this quarter. Val had a very busy day returning home on the bus that evening. Robert and Ellen Anderson and children, Max and Gene of Ephriam visited their parents, Val and Erma Styler Sunday afternoon. Russell and Jennie and family joined the group for an ice visit. Terry Hardy and his friend, Bob Christensen of Pleasant Grove spent the weekend, guests of Terry's uncle and aunt, Arlo and Norma Skeem. I I surely appreciate the help you Oasis people give me by reporting! your news to me. I've always got my nose out for news. Now I don't know if all that exercise will effect the length or sharpenss of that appendange or not. I've not noticed any effect on Dora Rose, Elaine Hardy or Zelma Shallbetter nor any of the rest of you good re porters, so maybe I'll get by. Of! course if mine gets pointed, I'll appreciate it if some of you can' trim it down a bit. But please be I gentle. I Just another note or two has come my way. Mr. and Mrs. Ber-dett Ber-dett Webster of Cedar visited their brother and sister, Irvin and Vernessa Ver-nessa Skeem. They came last Tuesday Tues-day so enjoyed visiting their sister, Cassie Johnson too. They returned to, their home Thursday. I heard this morning that the students in the Teachers Training class are beginning their micro teaching and that Shirley Skeem got hers done yesterday morning and came thru with flying colors. Mr. Ray Johnson was home over the weekend with his mother, Mrs. Betty Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Reid Tippetts returned re-turned from a week's trip to Seattle, Wash, where they visited with Mary's sister, Norma who is very ill. Mr. and Mrs. Kay Christensen and babies and Mrs. Laura Thomas were visitors of their parents, TBp. and Mrs. Thurmon Moody and family. Three trophies were on display I Sunday f or the M. Men basketball ; tournament, for Jr. M Men one consolation from city, one from State and one for Sr. M Men. Stake Superintendent Lyman Finlinson was a visitor at Sutherland Suther-land Ward Sunday. Charles Cary visited in Sutherland Suther-land with his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Nate Abbott. Charles is from Aberdeen, Aber-deen, Idaho and is a former resident resi-dent of Abraham. His mother was the former owner of the chicken ranch. Happy birthday to Wayne Evans who was five years old Monday. His mother, Mrs. Luana Evans and his grandmother, Mrs. Maurine Anderson gave him a party. Happy birthday also to Laura Fisher who is also five and having a party. Mr and Mrs. Otto Anderson were here from Benjamin to visit with brother, Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Anderson Ander-son and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Morgan Mor-gan May. Mr. and Mrs. David Anderson and children Shellie and Kelley David have gone to Salt Lake where they will make their home. David has employment at the Deseret Press. Mr. Owen Benson and children spent the weekend helping his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Owen Benson. Mrs. Betty Johnson and Mrs. Nina Johnson went to Salt Lake. Betty spent time visiting with Betsy and her husband and Nina stayed at her daughter's, Mr and Mrs. Kenneth Ken-neth May and family. The Mays have moved into their new home which Kenneth built himself. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Ryan spent a few days at Colorado Springs and visited with their mother and brother RhoAnne Johnson was chosen tc be FFA Sweetheart with Beth Ashby as first attendant and Karen Morris as second attendant. Congratulations Con-gratulations to all of them. Mrs. Kenneth Fowles honored her husband with a birthday party last week Mrs. Alison Johnson wah honored with a baby shower at the home of Mrs. Ken Ashby. There were 26 present.
