Show Oak City News MACEL ANDERSON Mr. and Mrs. Reed (Carolyn Lovell) Vincent of Oregon visited In Oak City with her sister, Martha Anderson and family and a brother Reed Lovell and wife, Zella and and family. They have not been in Utah for eight years so it was a very special reunion with her folks. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Anderson visited in the Ogden area Sunday and especially to attend the blessing bless-ing and naming of a little great-grandson, great-grandson, little "Jeffery Kent Tucker," baby son of Mr. and Mrs. Kent Tucker. The family of Mrs. LeRoy Anderson Ander-son had a family get together on Thursday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Roberts (Wil-ma) (Wil-ma) at Layton. There were six 'brothers and sisters in attendance to welcome Mr. and Mrs. Reed Vincent. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Roper visited a few days in Salt Lake and Ogden Og-den with their family and came home Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Walker enjoyed en-joyed a visit from Mr. and Mrs. Don Walker of Salt Lake Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. J. LeRoy and family of Orem visited also but just missed miss-ed seeing their folks as they had gone visiting relatives and friends. Mr. Hugh Davis and Miss Gloria Craw of Minersville and Cordsll iFinlinson of Cedar visited at the home of Cordell's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Finlinson, Saturday and Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Jacobson were happy to have their nephew, Myron and wife, Merodean Anderson Ander-son and sons of Sale Lake visit them Sunday afternoon. - The Relief Society under the direction di-rection of Pres. Cheryl Roper prepared pre-pared a turkey dinner with all the trimmings to celebrate the annual day of the organization for all Relief Re-lief Society members and their husbands. The dinner was lovely and the table decorations were jonquil bouquets which were beautiful. beau-tiful. The program consisted of jokes by Fred Nielson, songs, "God Bless America" and "Born Free' by the Cox children, Kenneth, Tracy, and Cherene; a trio by Beth Nielson, Niel-son, Meredith Lovell and Sandra (Dewsnup. Toasts by Austin Lovell and LeRoy Walker. Following the meal the Relief Society held an auction sale and sold everything from pie to the table to eat it on. They cleared $375 for the building fund which was very much appreciated. appreci-ated. Mr. and Mrs. Cloyd Talbot were happily suprised to have Cloyd's Garrison Hews by DONNA RICHARDSON Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Dearden and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Turner returned Sunday from a fishing trip to Willow Beach with Mr. and Mrs. (Lee Dearden. The Garrison Branch Relief Society So-ciety held their annual birthday party Tuesday evening March 25. Mrs. Rhoda Terry visited with Mr. and Mrs. Bud Richardson on Monday evening. Mrs. Ann Shoop stopped at the Bud Richardson residence Wednesday Wed-nesday afternoon. She spent the night with them. She lived Li Garrison eighteen years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Vivian Dearden motored to Salt Lake Thursday. While in the vicinity they attended a wedding reception for Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Warner's daughter. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Wheeler and family attended the wedding reception also. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Miller of Tremonten arrived in Garrison Friday Fri-day night and spent the night with Mr. and Mrs. Bud Richardson. Saturday afternoon Margaret Richardson and friend, Susan Aa-gard, Aa-gard, who are teachers at the Jo Mackey Elementary at Las Vegas arrived in Garrison to spend their Easter Vacation. - - - It's simple. They stayed over night and returned to their home Sunday. Cloyd and Emma spent Sunday at Nophi with their family, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Prisbrey and children and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Talbot I and children and especially because be-cause their little grandchild had been baptized. J At Sacrament meting Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dutson had their little new daughter named Damae by her father. The Relief Society was also reorganized? re-organized? I Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Nielson were in Provo Friday where Clarence Clar-ence had a checkup with his dr. Mr. and Mrs. Meldon Anderson and children of McGill, Nev. and Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Anderson of Provo visited Saturday with their parents. Sunday they were all at Provo and met Roger so they had a lovely family get together. Mr. and Mrs. Newell Anderson of Granger visited Saturday and Sunday Sun-day with their mother, Mrs. Helen (Anderson. They and Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. ,'Bryce Finlinson and family all attended at-tended church at the Delta 2nd ,ward Sunday where Mr. and Mrs. Fred Anderson had their baby named. The name was Monan Fred Anderson. 'Mr. and Mrs. Lambert Dutson of Ogden visited Sunday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Dutson Dut-son and Mervin Alldredge and Tex. Mr. and Mrs. Jay B. Lovell of Cedar visited over the weekend with their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Burton Bur-ton Lovell and Mr. and Mrs. Stewart Stew-art Taylor and families. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence East visited visit-ed the past week with their daughter daugh-ter Joleen and family at Evanston, Wyo. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Dewsnup entertained en-tertained the Explorers and Laurel girls at their home Sunday evening even-ing at a fireside chat. JEHOVAH'S WITNESSES CONVENTION An auditorium-packed audience of 1,735 persons listened intently Sunday afternoon as Angelo C. Manera, Jr., district supervisor for Jehovah's Witnesses, delivered the keynote address, "Law and Order When and How?", in the West Jordan Junior High School. After commenting on the many ways that a lack of law and order affects us, Mr. Manera pointed to the solution in these words, "Jehovah "Je-hovah God, and not man, is the one to look to for true law and order. Though many men have sincerely sin-cerely tried to 'bring about law and order, they have not succeeded. succeed-ed. Any honest observer of history and world situation must admit that legislators and rulers have failed." Contrasting the way ancient Israel handled lawbreakers to the manner in which they are handled han-dled tday, he stated, "Superiority of this manner of handling lawbreakers law-breakers over many systems of today to-day illustrates the perfection of God's law. Today, the thief often escapes punishment through legal technicalities. Or if punished, he Is only restrained temporarily. The victim seldom gets back what was taken from him; and if the thief is imprisoned, the victim pays further through taxes. Mrs. Lucile Sampson was hostess to the Deseret Rook Club at her home Thursday evening. Luncheon was served and then Rook was played. Prizes were won by Delores Ogden, Mable Black and Bessie Webb. Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Scow and three-month-old daughter, Lisa left Thursday for Phoenix, Ariz, where Darrel has accepted a job with the Phoenix Division of Ford Motor Co. Mr. and Mrs. Matt Cropper were in Salt Lake Thursday where Matt had a doctor appointment. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Western Tuesday were Mr. and Mrs. B.I. Fine Arts, Craft House, Inc. to Sponsor Contests The Utah State Institute of Fine Arts and Pioneer Craft House, Inc. are. co-sponsoring two contests in the near future, announce Mr. Wilburn West, Institute Director and Mrs. A. L. Beeley, Craft House. The two contests are in Visual Arts and Puppet Production. The Visual Arts Contest rules are as follows: 1. All entries must be original and may be paintings, water colors, etchings or drawings. 2. Subject matter must be puppets pup-pets (marionettes, shadow puppets, stick puppetts or hand pupets). 3. Works should be framed, matted, or appropriately prepared for wall hanging. 4. Each entry must show namo and address of artist and whether of amateur or professional standing. stand-ing. 5. Entries must be submitted bv June 2, 1969 to Pioneer Craft House, Inc. 3271 South 5th East, Salt Lake City where they will b2 exhibited from June 2 through August 31, 1969. Following judging awards will be given including a Purchase Award of $200.00 and an Honor Medal and a second award of $50.00 and Honor Medal to the best in both amateur and professional profes-sional divisions. Honor certificates will be presented to outstanding works. Rules for the Puppet Production include a play Written, puppets made and play produced by an individual in-dividual or group at the Pioneer Craft House Puppet Theater. Entries En-tries must be submitted to the craft house by June 30, 1969. The production must be between twenty and thirty minutes long sutable for any age group. Puppets may be marionettes, shadow puppets or hand puppets. The plays will be published by Pioneer Craft House, Inc. and will be available with out royalty to school and community groups. Judges will include a drama specialist, therapist, public school teacher, an artist and a writer. Awards Include a Purchase A-ward A-ward of $200.00, 50.00 and Honor Medal. Honor Certificates will be presented, also. The decision of the judges will be final. However, Mrs. Beeley stresses, if no play is found suitable, suit-able, the judges may extend the closing dates until plays with merit are received. He is a Veteran of World War I. We helped Reva Bliss celebrate her birthday Friday and wish her many more happy birthdays just as nice. Mr. Arch Poulsen is back in the West Millard Hospital. We know that everything that can be done is being done by our good doctors and nurses. We hope he is soon 'better. Mrs. Colleen Riding Ashby of Ely, Nev. and daughter Vicki and fiance and her 2 other girls were at the Jay Fullmer's Sunday. Verl and Judy Tolbert of Garrison Garri-son were here over the weekend. They visited the Sherman Tolberts and Fred Turners. : We have had beautiful spring weather lately. Was glad to see our old friend. Fern Foote in the store Saturday. She grew up out here in Abraham. She looks real well and we hope she continues with good health. The same good wish goes to Mrs. Alice DeLapp Jensen who we are always glad to meet. A number of the Fullmer family went to Ogden to the funeral of Lovinia Parker Fullmer who died at the age of 80 years. Her husband Oscar died a month ago.
