Miss Day is a graduate of Delta High School and has attended Brigham Young University and College of Southern Utah. Mr. Mankin also graduated from Delta High School and has fulfilled a two-year mission in New Zealand. He has attended College of Southern Utah, University Uni-versity of Utah and Brigham Young University. He is presently present-ly receiving basic training in the U. S. Army at Ft. Ord, Calif. Hales. Mr. Hales is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Parley G. Hales of Delia. The engaged couple is planning a November 29, 1968 wedding in Mmersville. Miss Banks is a 1968 graduate of Beaver High School and is currently employed at the Beaver clothing factory. Mr. Hales, a graduate of Delta High School, has completed a toui' of military duty and is now employed by the Union Pacific Railroad. OASIS RUBY SKEEM M. and Mrs. Ray Norton and children of Salt Lake spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Dave Nichols. Delene and I spent Friday and Saturday in Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Evan Skeem and children drove us home Sunday. I Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Skeem visited with Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Skeem and family in Salt Lake while Clifton was on vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Hawley spent the weekend in Salt Lake with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Johnson. Mrs. Ella Christensen has gone to Las Vegas to spend some of the ' winter with Forrest and Helen and children. The mothers and bridesmaids were dressed in gold. Ushers were Evan and Rex Finlinson Fin-linson and Brent Rogers. Mrs. Winona Tolbert was at the juest book. Mrs. Bruce (Josephine) Lyman, Mrs. Wilford Sheriff, Mrs. Melvin Skeem went to Deseret Ward. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Stanworth and family of Salt Lake spent four days with Mr. and Mrs. Ted Stan- worth. Mr. and Mrs. Don Bradfield and family of Bountiful spent the day with Mr. and Mrs. Grant Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. George Steele and son of Goshen spent two days wilh their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Stanworth. Shariden Day was home over the weekend from Provo where she is attending a beauty college. Edgar Mills asked me to let the people of Oasis know that the bus will pick up two or more people in this area at the store or at the church building. The program was lovely. A trio by Jane's cousins, Carolyn Roper, Af-ton Af-ton Dutson and Dorothy Atkinson and a violin trio by the Lesler family accompanied by their mother. moth-er. Mrs. Roborta Dutson gave an orininal reading from the Coloring Book of Happ'.ness which was designed de-signed by Sue Nielson. After the bridal i waltz, Vance Finlinson did a tra-l ditional solo dance, beine older ! than his bride sister. A large crowd of friends and relatives attended the dance to give the young couple their best wishes. They received many beautiful beau-tiful and useful gifts. Ona particularly outstanding trip was taken this fall--"the weather has been so good, wo decided to keep on scheduling tours," they saidwas the trip to the Clear Lake Waterfowl Management Area. Approximately Approximate-ly thirty persons enjoyed a pot-luck pot-luck lunch at the lake that day They observed the flock of seventy seven-ty white geese which are residents resi-dents at the lake and which serve to attract the Canadian honkers to the area. Ducks, great blue herons, mud hens and other marsh birds lent interest to the trip. Minnows as well as large carp were visible in the still clear waters surrounding Clear Lake. Hot chicken noodle soup, sandwiches, sand-wiches, salads, homemade root-beer, root-beer, several cakes, rolls, and cookies all attested to the skill cf good cooks in the party that day. Thirty committee members representing each community in Millard County meet every month EVELYN WOOD TO DEMONSTRATE SPEED READING The West Millard Fine Arts Guild is very fortunate to have Evelyn Wood demonstrate "Reading Dynamics" Dy-namics" at their meeting on Thursday, Thurs-day, Nov. 14th, 4:00 p.m. in the Little Theater of the Delta High School. This will be a very interesting interest-ing programs, with films and a demonstration of speed reading. All ladies of the West Millard area are invitted to attend this very worthwhile program. Dr. Melvin White, State Director of the Council of Aging said that the centers "at Dalta and Fillmore Fill-more are rated among the better of the state, because of centhus-iastic centhus-iastic participation in outstanding outstand-ing activity schedules." The M. E. Bird Center which was funded in July for another year, has nad well over 1,000 visits slice spring and had a peak month, of 400 visits in ApriL The center is usually open Monday through Friday and some weeks a special activity is scheduled every day. Myrtis Bennion teaches teach-es art every Monday afternoon to persons ranging in age from 21 to sixty-plus. Mr. Seegmiiler has a handicraft class every Thursday at 2:00 p.m. - A special musical program is being prepared by the "Kinfolk" for Thursday, Nov. 14, at 7:30 p. m. and a big Thanksgiving party (there were about 80 at the Halloween party) is being held Thursday Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the center. "We need a new rug for the recreation room at the center," said Mr. Seegmilleg, who with others on the committee, are busily planning a bazaar and bcike sale for December. Melville Bishop Camp, DUP, will meet Friday, Nov. 15, 2:00 p.m. at the home of Etta T. Bishop, 169 North Center, Delta.
