He reported that lie had had "a little ruckus" with Richard Snow, general chairman of the celebration and Al Wiilden, in charge of the daylight salute. The mayor said that he had considered filing complaints against Mr. Snow, Mr. Wiilden and Councilman Evan Gardner charging them with disturbing dis-turbing the peace. Councilman Gardner is in charge of the con- plete celebration. The mayor rcpor ted that Attorney Crafts had ad vised against, filing the complaints and that he was heeding the At torney's advise. Hartley, circuit supervisor super-visor for Jehovah's Witness in the State of Utah and parts of Nevada including the Delta congregation, has been called to assist in advance ad-vance preparation for the "Good News For All Nations" District Assembly to be held in Billings, Montana July 11-14. As one 'of the principal speakers, Hartley will talk on the subject: "Spreading the Truth that Leads to Life", which will be of special interest to Christian ministers, and will highlight the Friday evening session. 7,500 Read It In The CHRONICLE Big Game Board Sets Deer Hunts Utah's Board of Big Game Con trol in setting the 1968 deer hunts established a general season of October 19-29 for animals of either sex along with granting extensions to the regular season for six units, short five day either sex hunts on five units, eleven day buck only hunts on portions of two herd units and closed the deer season on the Oak City unit. There will be 1800 control deer permits available this year on areas needing additional pressure to balance deer with available forage. for-age. Some of these control permits will be for five day notice post season hunts which are designed to control problems in specific areas. There will not be any rifle hunts opening- this year prior to the October Oct-ober 19 general season starting date.. Archery hunters will open their season Auguts 24 and will continue on a statewide basis, hunting animals ani-mals of either sex until Sept. 8. In other action the Board set the same weapon regulations as last year which means you may hunt deer during the regular season with bow and arrow, muzzle loading rifle or any other rifle firing a center fire cartridge with, an ex panding type bullet. Deer proclamations listing all rules and regulations will be avail able about July 20. 1968 Elk Season Dates Listed Elk hunting in Utah for 1968' looks somewhat different than the lineup of past years as the Board of Big Game Control Included three more areas in the open bull hunt ing category and set most hunt openings one week later Hunters who are eligible for elk permits this year will have an opportunity op-portunity to purchase a bull permit and hunt on the Cache, Ogden River, Uinta Mountain (including the Bear River-Hole In the Rock unit), Manti or the Nebo units. Hunting dates will be October 5-11 on the Cache, Ogden River and Nebo units, and October 5-15 on Uintah mountain and Manti units. For the other elk units the Board authorized 105 either sex elk permits per-mits and 295 bull permits. These restricted permits will be on the following units: Brown's Park, La Sal mountains, Heaston, Salt Lake, Mt. Dutton, and Fish Lake. All elk hunts will open October 5 except for the Heaston and Fish Lake units which will be November 16 through 24. Open bull elk permits will be sold from August 5 through August 13 and applications for the restrict ed unit pemrits will be accepted between August 15 and August 23 on the special elk application form. Full details on elk hunts for 1968 have been available since July 7th. BIRTHDAYS CELEBRATED Sixty members of the R. L. Turner Tur-ner family celebrated at a joint birthday party for their parents at the Fred Turner home Saturday night. A delicious turkey dinner was served, which was highlighted by a beautiful birthday cake with the name of each child and grandchild as part of the decoration. After the supper the remainder of the evening was spent playing games and visiting. family members who attended the party were Miss Ruby Turner and Miss Ida Whitaker, Ray Turner and family and Mrs. Diane Fisher and son of Salt Lake; Mrs. Judy Tolbert and family of Garrison; Mr. and Mrs. Kent Turner and Mrs. Helen Starley and family of Calif.; the Reed, Fred, Jack and Wayne Turner families and the Daniel Hansen, Doug Turner and Leon Smith families of Delta. Mrs. Helen Starley of Sunnyvale, California and her three children, Marlynn, Ricky and Shauna, have spent the last ten days in Delta visiting with Helen's parents, the R. L.
