Mrs. Reva Talbot spent Sunday afternoon in Meadow to help her mother, Mrs. Lulu Gull celebrate her birthday. The Mutual's operetta will be presented the first week In March once in Hinckley and once to Deseret's MIA. Mrs. Melba Jean Crowley underwent under-went surgery in Salt Lake last Thursday at the LDS Hospital. Her family went up to be with her during the operation. Sunday, her husband, John, and son, Kevin, went back to see her and they said she is coming along fine. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Workman were happy at the Valentine Day arrival of another granddaughter. The little girl is the daughter of Wayne and Elma Kaye Jones. Karl and Arvilla went to Cedar to see the new grandbaby and Arvilla is staying there for a few days. Glen and Verna Taylor spent four days In Salt Lake on business last week. Mr. and Mrs. Dallon Dennison of Salt Lake visited the Ted Denni-sons Denni-sons the other day. Mrs. Luckv Theobald and girls are visiting here from Nevada, i Clare Bishop visited with his parents, ,the Heber Bishops on his way home to Salt Lake after having hav-ing been to Calif, with his work in the Indian Placement Service. While on his trip to Calif., he visit ed with his brother, Jay, and sister Ar'ene Hekker and their families. R. and Arvilla took R.'s sister, Gen Chapman, to Sterling last Thursday where she will remain for a week to visit. Marlon Dennison returned to Calif, last-week after visiting with Ills parents, the Ted Dennisons hero. Mrs. Perry Tippetts rode to Calif, with him where she Is now vls'.ting with her husband. Iris Hoffeins of Portland, Ore. arrived ar-rived on Sunday to visit with her grandparents, Alma and Alice Western. Wes-tern. 1 Mr. end Mrs. Cleone Talbot and family of Provo visited on the week lend with Cleon's mother, Mrs. Gol-ia Gol-ia Talbot and Jim and the other family members. Mr. and Mrs. George Ekins attended at-tended a party last Saturday night in Orem at Keith and Kathryn Black's home. Sunday they went to Logan to visit Gene and Jane Ekins and their family. Their son David of Provo and Margaret and Frank Wilde of Salt Lake went with them. They returned home Sunday evening. I Mrs. Lydia Ekins visited in Fillmore Fill-more Monday with her daughter, Mrs. Alda Reeve. She went over with Sebrina Ekins and Fannie Lee Hilton, who attend the oii painting class at the Del Patio Recreation Center for senior citizens. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Witbeck of Salt Lake visited at Gen Chapman's Chap-man's home for two days and also at L. R. Swensens. Mrs. Betty Jane Morris left Monday Mon-day morning to accompany her mother, Mrs. Margaret Roper, to Salt Lake where Margaret is having hav-ing eye surgery tins week. Wednesday evening the Rook Club enjoyed supper and cards at Mrs. Alta Warnick's home. Guests were: Bernico Palmer, Betty Jane Morris, Bonnie Morris, E.aine Hardy, Har-dy, Anna Lee Hepworth, lone Chris-tensen. Chris-tensen. Mrs. Valyn Dutson and children went to Salt Lake Friday. Valyn had some medical attention. She returned home Saturday. Ray Bishop, son of the Verdell Bishops, who has been living in Provo for the past several years and has been an announcer of Radio Station KOVO there is leaving leav-ing to enter the Air Force. Thursday Thurs-day morning on Ray's regular KOVO program the personel bid him goodbye and that day he was given a party. Ray was sworn into the U. S. Air Force Monday morning morn-ing and left for Lackland Air Force For-ce Base in Texas later that snme day. His wife, Beverly and his family spent the day in Salt L?ke with him. His wife is remaining in Provo for the present time where she teaches fourth grade at the Springville Elementary School. 1 Last Wednesday, Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Swensen were hosts at dinner for five of R.'s brothers and sisters the first time the six of them have been together for several years. Those attending were Gen Chapman, Chap-man, Randle and Oleta Swensen, Vera and Heber Bishop, Edith and Ted Denn:?on. L'la and Merri.l Wit-beck Wit-beck of Salt Lake. ! All of the el?s:;es at the Elementary Elemen-tary School held Valentine parties on Valentine Day. A very special party was held when a surprise (complete surprise they tell me) party was given for Mr. Gale Farnsworth by the fifth and sixth grade students. Invited guest were Mrs. Farnsworth, Mr. Parry of the Bookmobile, his assistant and some of the teachers who were treated with punch and Valentine cookies. Rousing games were played. The room was gaily decorated with mammoth sized Valentines anu streamers. The party was under the direction of Bruce Bishop and Julie Dutson. Sympathy to the family of Cecil Warner, at his passing this week. Cecil will certainiy be missed by all. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Brown went to Salt Lake Friday to attend meetings meet-ings and the Mid-Winter Lions Club Banquet at the Terrace Ballroom Ball-room in Salt Lake where Ray helped help-ed with some of the displays and arrangements for one of the meet-, ings that was featuring some of the Ideas of the work the Lions CiUbs are doing to help the blind of the state. Ray is on the State Board that has this work in charge. There were several others from here who attended the banquet Saturday, ,the Howard Hardys, Wes Petersons, Ward Petersens, Wayne Petersons and the Howard Roundys of Oasis. Second Ward News EDDYS BARBEN Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Larsen and family of Nephl spent the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. S. Bassett and celebrated the 8th birthday of Jenae Larsen. Mr. and Mrs. A. II. Maxfield just returned from a visit with their children up north, Mr. and Mrs. Blair Maxfield and family of Provo, Thayne and family of Erda, Utah, Garff and Dwight and their families fami-lies of Salt Lake. The new baby, another granddaughter and daughter dau-ghter of Beth Ogden and Dwight Maxfield was born Feb. 1st. She has five older brothers. Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Killpack went to Provo Saturday for a checkup for their little son, John. Everyone in the ward is so pleased with the improvement he has made, since his very serious illness. Mr. and Mrs. John A. Adams returned re-turned home Thursday from a 3-day 3-day extensive schooling held at San Jose, Calif. They flew by jet plane to San Francisco then flew by helicopter from San Francisco to San Jose. They returned home by jet. They enjoyed the ride and the interesting trip very much. Kent Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Miller.and his wife, Shannon, called Saturday night from Rock-ford, Rock-ford, 111. to wish his father "Happy Birthday." OASIS RUBY SKEEM It's beautiful weather here. It sems the flu has slowed down, also. Reports are that Norvel Chris-tensen Chris-tensen has been sick while he and Ella are wintering in Las Vegas. I do hope he is feeling better now. Mr. and Mrs. J. Val Styler had their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Messenger of Beaver, over for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Carlos Bishop and family spent the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop. Both families attended Sunday School. Susan, Steven and Coleen Rowley were at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Loren Rowley this weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Ten Stanworth returned re-turned home this week after visiting visit-ing in Spanish Fork and Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Webb were down this weekend. Eric and Margaret Gillen returned return-ed from Ventura, Calif, this week. Prin. Paul Winward's seminary class presented the sacrament meet ing Sunday. Speakers were Kay Wood, Becky Henrie, Vickie Jensen, Jen-sen, Gaylen Sabey,, Layne Moody and Byron Tahbo. Beverly Watson, Sandra Lyman, Kathy Gardner and Lauralee Riding sang. Sunday School; Hilda Oliver, Pres. Primary; Choral Ciark, Pres. Relief Society; Elden Shurtz, New Counselor; Zen Boothe, Alden Shurtz, Kent Shurtz, Donna Losee, and Dick Jensen. Ward Conference was held in th evening with taiks from Ferron I.ovell, Bishop Roy Losee, Elden Eliason, Frank Lyman, and Pres. E. L. Moody. A good conference was enjoyed by a large crowd. Virginia Vir-ginia Lyman visited with us. Sorry to hear of the death of Tressa Jenson's sister, Eliza Jane Allmendinger of Midvale. Her husband hus-band died in Dec. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Al-bert Wilkenson of Orem came Saturday Sat-urday and got Tressa. The funeral was Tuesday in Midvale, Utah. Visiting the Seth Jackson's Sunday Sun-day were Mrs. Ramona Kenny and Mrs. Grant Stevens. Dwaine and Janet came down Saturday to see how Seth was getting along. They returned to their home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. George Bliss and Jeannio of Eureka stopped In Sunday Sun-day night to visit for a few minuets min-uets with Mr. and Mrs. Ralph F. Stoneking and Todd.
