Show Millatd County Chronicle OAK CITY MACEL ANDERSON Now that the holidays are over and most everyone settled down to their regular routine of either school or work, I guess 1 Mo next thing is to get busy meeting bills etc., that seems ta be always popping pop-ping up and satisfying Uncle Sam with a nice little income tax. Mr. and Mrs. Irving Jneobson are happy to report their little new great-grandson born Christmas Day at the Fillmore hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Mitch MoGreagor, of Rexford, Montana. The mother is the former Gloria Brunson. Mr. and Mrs. Faye Jaconson took his parents to Fillmore Fill-more to visit the little new comer and his mother. This is the sixth great-grandchild for Mr. and Mrs. Jacobson. Congratulations. Mrs. Ranae Christensen came home from the hospital and brought her new baby. He was welcomed wel-comed by a sister and two brothers. His grandparents, Larson, of New Mexico are also visiting and came to help take care of mother and ba'by. Mrs. Burton (Lorna) Lovell spent a few days during the week visiting visit-ing in Salt Lake with Mr. and Mrs. Roland Dutson and children. She returned Thursday evening. The Dutson children are just recovering from chicken pox. A car load of people attended the temple Friday, Bishop .Dean Anderson, Peter Nielson, Susan Shipley, Helen Anderson, Lorna Lovell, Elva Finlinson and Macel Anderson. Peter Nielson stayed to spend Saturday and returned home with Mr. and Mrs. Reed Lovell. Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Nielson were Salt Lake visitors Wednesday and Thursday. Ivan went for a checkup with his doctor. He is recovering from his operation cpuite well and won't have to go back for six months. Mr. and Mrs. Joshua finlinson are reported as continuing to improve. im-prove. It will be good to have them able to come home. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Lovell report re-port having another grandson born to Mr. and Mrs. Jim Quick at Spokane, Spo-kane, Wash, on the 17th of Dec. This make five boys for Jim and Pauline. One nice thing about it, he was born the same day as David and Rosemary's. The little grandson will be named Steven John and David's baby is named Leland David. Congratulations to all concerned, especially the grand parents, who have twin grandsons. Miss Hazel Christensen of Salt Lake is visiting her parents, ,Mr. and Mrs. Willard Christensen for a few days. The Seminary students gave the program for Sacrament meeting Sunday. Mr. Erickson accompanied them. It was a lovely program and well presented. We are always happy to have the Seminary students stu-dents bring their program to our ward. President and Mrs. Frank Lyman visited the Sacrament meeting. Pres. It's a real accompolishment. Fireside Chat was held at the home of Paul Anderson with most of the young people in the ward of the age group Attending. Pres-Lyman Pres-Lyman gave a lovely talk and we invite him to come again. Elder Cardell Finlinson will report re-port his mission January 21st at Oak City Ward Chapel, lie is presently pre-sently enrolled at CSU and left Sunday to enter school. Wst Desert" ROUNDUP BY SARAH ADAMS There has been more storm here on the desert and also more subzero sub-zero tempertaures. All of the students going to town have left the desert again. We are always sorry to see them and their folks leave after the holi days are over. Eddie Alder spent n very cold night on the desert between here and Salt Lake when his truck quit running and wouldn't .itart again. When it got daylight he was able to make some repairs and go on to town. lone Spencer is still not very well. Laura Neilson is in Salt Lake taking care of her until she is feeling feel-ing 'better. Fred Newbold's son, Kenneth, was in a very serious car accident. He was injured quite badly and will have to stay down for several weeks. His wife received some injuries in-juries also. "Santa" was very good to Merle Henroid. He brought her a beautiful beauti-ful new '68 car. tiiuiii waud akka news BEA WILLDEN They say, "no . news is good news" but I find it a little hard to print. I guess everyone went into a flunk after the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Clinton Tolbert and Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Leavitt attended at-tended the funeral service in Ben-nion, Ben-nion, Utah, for grandson, PFC David J. Tolbert, Saturday, Jan. 6th. There were several people attending from this area. Also coming com-ing from Dolon Springs, Ariz, were Mi', and Mrs. Tom Riding and Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Ham'blin and from Kingman, Ariz. Mr. and Mrs. Deloy Tolbert. Mrs. Tolbert reported a very large crowd attended the service. ser-vice. Stopping in Delta at the Al Will-den Will-den home were S-Sgt. and Mrs. R. P. Brown (Jean Daly) and five sons of Radcliff, Ky. They were on their way to Tooele where Mrs. Brown will" be living while Sgt. Brown is overseas. Mr. and Mrs. Bud Day and son, Kip, are visiting Mrs. Day's mother Mrs. Betty Beaulieu. ' Miss Susan Jensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Johny Jensen, was here over the New Year and Christmas Christ-mas holiday to visit with her folks. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth (Delia Johnson) May are the proud parents par-ents of a new little boy whicn came to them about two weeks ago. He weighed 10 lbs. 5 oz. The Mays reside at Spanish Fork. Elder Lenord Owens has been made Zone Leader jver the area in Australia where he is on his mission, so the reports were from Elder Owens in the last letter received re-ceived by his family. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Daiton and children of Circleville were here to visit with their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Cutler Henrie and Beckie, John Thayne, and Richard and Marsha and families, also with Mr. and Mrs. Tillman Johnson and family. Mr. Thayne Henrie and friend were also here for the holidays to visit with his folks, the Cutler Hens ries. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Bayles and little son, Kirt, of Orem were here to visit with their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Reid Tippet te. Lee, of Dixie, was here also. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Johnson and children were here last week to visot with their father, Mr. Amon Johnson. Mrs. Mae Wind returned after a few days stay in Provo with her son, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Wind, and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Auer Jensen and family. They all went to Oregon where they visited with Mrs. Wind's grandson, Mr. and Mrs. Veil Jensen and children. DHS'S FIRST MACHINE GEARED TO INDIVIDUAL DIFFERENCES The Business Department had a new steno-lab installed during the Christmas holidays. This amazing machine contains four tapes which work independently of one another, an-other, each offering a different speed of dictation. A shorthand student, through the use of earphones ear-phones and individual desk controls- can choose to listen to which ever tape offers the speed he needs to improve his skill. It is impossible imposs-ible in a regular classroom to dictate dic-tate at speed most beneficial to students because of their individual different rates of progress. Each student needs a different rate of dictation and this machine makes it possible to satisfy the needs of all. Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Kent (Kathy Johnson) John-son) Freeman pnd children spent the Christmas and New Years holiday holi-day with their family, Mr. and Mrs. Max Johnson, Rhoanne, David and Daniel. Also to visit with the Johnsons John-sons were Mr. and Mrs. Richard Garrett (Gayle) and children of Salt Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Tony Alldredge (Lorraine) of Provo. Mr. and Mrs. Jim (Karla) Corry spent a few days with their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Johnson, Ray and Betsy. Miss Pati Robison and Miss Judy Owens were here for the Christmas Holiday and visited therir families, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Robison, Scott and Jary, and Mr. and Mrs. Gene Owens, Robert, Gary and John. Mr. and Mrs. Marve Moody just returned from California where they spent about two weeks with their different children. Miss Cherrie Walker was here to visit with her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Walker and family, and Miss Denis Schena came to spend a few days with her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Neno Schena and family. These girls are attending the University of Utah. Among those who were here last week were Mr. Lonnie Hales from Provo to visit Mr. and Mrs. Sam Hales and Mr. Richard Adams of Dixie, to visit with his folks, Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Adams. Mr. and Mrrs. Adams received word from their older son, Phillip, that he s doing just fine in Germany and that he had made the all star basket ball team. He wanted them to tell everyone hello and a happy and prosperous New Year to all. ,Mr. and Mrs. Kyle Jacobson of Cedar and Mr. Lewis Rawlinson of Logan were here to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Rawlinson last week. This week the Rawlinsons went to Las Vegas where they spent a night or two with their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Fernard Blake and family. They reported that the children slept out of doors in sleeping bags. It was just that warm. How about that? Mr. Jones is happy to have his sister. I,oui?i with him for a while. Mr. and Mrs. Grr - v-c--. Trace, Lori Ann and Laura Rose, were all here to see their folks the Heber Roses, also to visit with the Roses were Mr. and Mrs. Michael Rose and daughter, Debbie Dawn, of Cedar, Mr. and Mrs. David Wilde Paul David, and Kim Heber of Croydon, Bishop and Mrs. Meivin Hepworth of Cedar. They all stayed stay-ed until after New Years. To visit with Mr. and Mrs. Ivo Ogden were their children, Mr. and Mrs. Ronnie Mecham of Orem, Mr. and Mrs Leon Suchey and baby of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Miller and children of Beaver and Dana Kay and husband. . Sp4 Roger Ogden of Fort Irwin, Calif, was here also to visit with his parents, the Ivo Ogdens and his sisters and families. Mr. David Sampson of Grand Junction, stopped here to see his sister, Mr. and Mrs. Ivo Ogden. There is much sickness especially pneumonia which we hope will soon subside. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop were visitors at the Sutherland ward Sunday. Mrs. Margaret Edwards, .mother of Mr. Lowell Edwards, ,is in the LDS Hospital at Salt Lake and her room number is 225. She would appreciate a card or two from her many friends here. Surely hope this cold weather doesn't last until next July. Jim says he likes school "because it's a good place to learn and to i meet friends." This comment is as ' we would expect, since his good nature and consideration for others has gained him many friends. His' classes this year include English, Psychology, Algebra, Seminary, Art,' American Problems, and Athletics. I He considers them all as favorites. His mischievous and carefree nature na-ture invites procrastination but his serious turn brings good results. Jim always wllingly co-operates in various school and class activi-1 ties. He helped on Senior Hop and also Junior Prom decorations committees. com-mittees. This teen's hobbies are hunting and fishing and he loves all outdoor out-door recreation. This year he par- ticipated in football only, but he enjoys all sports. Jim plans to attend CSU where he will major in Forestry. He has chosen this as his major because of his love of the out doors. At Delta High School we are looking look-ing forward to having the year 1968 be the best yet. All of our students have tremendous tre-mendous potential that needs only to be developed. I would like to challenge each studentbody member to do something some-thing to make this school and community a 'better place to live in because he contributed to it. Be friendly to that shy fellow or girl. Spend the needed half hour a day studying for that difficult class. Improve your mind a little each day. Review your life's goals.
