Show Millard County Chronicle OAK CITY MACEL ANDERSON Happy New Year to everyone. It came In on the wings of a big snow storm New Years night. Mr. Esdras Finlinson spent Christ mas at Enetrprise with his daugh ters, Ramona Day and LaMar Wei don and families. Mr. and Mrs. Reece Finlinson went and brought him home the day after Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Peterson came for Mrs. Aretta Peterson and took her to Salt Lake where she spent Christmas and returned home with her son, Walter, Wednesday. Howard Peterson and a friend are visiting with her for a few days. Tuesday evening the MIA held a dance which was well attended after they got the ower turned on. A load of hay went thru town and upset the power line so the dance had to be postponed until they were able to get the power line fixed which was nearly ten o'clock. Miss EIRue Alltlredge went by plane to Phoenix where she had surgery on her arm and a new cast put on it. She had to have a bone graft. She Is doing quite well now. Marsha and Jon Thought her back, arriving just before Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Roper, Allen Marjorie and Carolyn visited In Oak City with their family during the holidays. . Barry Anderson entertained at a party on Wednesday evening for a group of young peoeple. Miss Sharon Stuart entertained her friends at a dinner party Friday Fri-day evening. Mr. Richard Morrey of Joseph, Ut. and Mr. Bryant Young of Richfield visited Macel and Paul Anderson Thursday and Friday of last week. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Anderson and children of Ely also visited at the Anderson home on Saturday. Mrs. Helen Anderson had all her family at home except Moyle, who Is In South America. They had a New Year's dinner Saturday. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Blgelow and children of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Anderson, Mr. and Mrs. Newell Anderson of Mid-vale, Mid-vale, and Bryant, ...... Mr. and Mrs. Don Anderson had New Years dinner at Granger with their children at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ken Wilkerson. They left Tuesday to go back to St. George where they will spend the winter months working in the temple. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Martin and children returned to Los Angeles after visiting a week with their parents, in Salt Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Shipley. Mr. and Mrs. Fred (Winona) Tol- bert and children of Cedar visited with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Alldredge. Mrs. Alldredge is home from the hospital for a short stay during the holidays and will return for more treatments. Best wishes to you, Bernice. Mr. and Mrs. Don Schmuu and children of St, Ceorgo vlailed their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Lovell and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Lovell over the weekend. Bruce met with an accident when coming home with a load of lumber Thursday but escaped es-caped Injury which was a good thing. Mr. Peter Nielson visited a few days over the Christmas holiday at Fillmore with Bishop and Mrs. Robert Ro-bert A. Nielson. Elder Cordell Finlinson returned home Saturday. We heard him at Sunday School few minutes and will look forward to hearing more from him at a later date. Mr. and Mrs. Delynn and children child-ren of Salt Lake visited their mother, Mrs. Twiss Nielson a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Smith and baby daughter of Phoenix, Ariz., are visiting their parents, Bishop and Mrs. Lyman Finlinson and family. Mr. and Mrs. Jake Romero of Murray visited during the holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milan Jacobson, Rebecca and Ter-essa. Ter-essa. Miss Rachel Dutson and John Wright visited Rachel's folks. Rachel Ra-chel was home for the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence returned home after spending the Christmas holiday with their daughter, dau-ghter, Jolene and family at Evan-ston, Evan-ston, Wyo. Rose and Ron Shumway and two children went to Salt Lake one day recently. Mrs. Alma Petersen was the Stake visitor at the last . Relief Society meeting of the ye"r. A little program was given, refreshments of hot punch and cake and candy were served. Little gifts of scarf holders were presented to each lady attending. These were all made by Mrs. Adell Peterson and thanks go to her for the time that went into making a remembrance for all those at Relief Society. Reva and Lynn Talbot returned home from Las Vegas Tuesday after spending Christmas with sons Stephen and Mike and families. Joyce and Marion Manwell and children of Provo have been here to see Joyce's parents, the Carl Theobalds. The Ferron Bliss family of Spanish Span-ish Fork visited Alice Bliss during ter. The Christensen family are rejoicing re-joicing over another baby boy born to Ranae and Blaine at the West Millard Hospital the last day of the year 1967. The Melvin Anderson family has 'been down wih the flu. They are improving and hope they will soon be able to be out again. Mrs. Martha Anderson just returned re-turned after visiting her children in the Ogden area. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Roper of Cedar visited friends and relatives in Oak City and Delta during the holidays. Our sympathy goes to the Adams family for the loss of their son who has served so well in the battle field. The MIA sponsored a program and fireside chat with refreshments Sunday evening prior to the Stake Dance at Delta Sunday evening for the young people to help usher in the New Year. Ardean Anderson visited his friend in Delta Monday and Tues. Howard Dueson and Rachel left Tuesday and return to their work in Ogden and Provo. annum Savings Couple Honored A wedding reception was held in the Oak City Cultural Hall Satur day evening for Mr. and Mrs. William Carol. The bride Is the former Karen Olson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Olson former residents of Oak City now of Hey-' Hey-' bourne, Id"ho. I Matron of honor was Mrs. Nor- man Olson, bridesmaids were Jane Finlinson, Winona Tolbert, Mrs. Sidney Olson and her two roommates room-mates of Salt Lake City. The young couple were married In Heybourne, Idaho Dec. 28. Norman Olson was master of ceremonies. Miss Carolyn Roper played a piano solo and Miss Nola Nielson gave a reading. A large crowd of family and I friends attended. the holidays. i Mr. Dan Irish and son have been in Calif, for the past few weeks. I Mrs. Angie Cahoon had her daughter, dau-ghter, Amelia Jane, and her husband, hus-band, Wayne Cole, and their children child-ren of Bountiful here to see her. I They enjoyed a family dinner at LaRue Nickle's home and they cele brated Angie's birthday which was New Year s day. Darrell and Ann Cropper and four children of Las Vegas visited over the holidays with their parents the Hon Croppers and Kellys of Oasis and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Petersen, Bryan and Gary went to Las Vegas last Friday to visit with Karen and Ace Henrickson and their children. They came home Monday. Mrs. Gertha Bishop is home now after being in Idaho to visit for the past while. Her daughter, ,Leola Wolters and husband and family of Salt Lake brought her home. Bryan Petersen went to Grants-ville Grants-ville Tuesday afternoon, back ro his teaching job. Kathleen Brady of Cedar visited the Wayne Petersens during the holidays. She is a friend of Donald Petersen's. Kathleen and Donald returned to school Tuesday morning. morn-ing. Friday of last week, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Morris and Mr. and Mrs. Wes ley Morris went to Salt Lake to attend at-tend a family gathering at the home of Fred and Wanda (Nielson) Kasteller. The party was in honor of Wanda's son, Bruce, who was down from Oregon and it was the first, some of the family had seen Bruce in 12 years. Wanda invited her brothers and sisters to the party. par-ty. The family got word about the time for the party, that their brother, Lafe, who also lives in Salt Lake had just been hit by a car and was operated on Saturday morning. He will be in a cast for six weeks or more. Mrs. Dorothy Damron was recent ly honored on her birthday by her sister, Mrs. Beulah Bassett with a family dinner at her home. Present were Dorothy and Ken, Thora and Wayne Petersen, Esther and Lowell Petersen, Barbra and Dell Ashby, Ward and NeRae Petersen, Homer and Alma Petersen and Beulah and Bud. Jeannie and Leo Ekins and baby girl left here last week. They went to St. Maiese, Idaho, where Jeannie and the baby are staying with her parents for two weeks while Leo went back to Salt Lake and flew to Boston, Mass. to attend a convention. con-vention. Leo will find them a place to live in Kansas City, Mo. where he has employment. Randle and Oleta had some of their children , and their families surprise them with a visit during the holidays, Carl and Ruth Swen-sen Swen-sen and two children, Carl J. (home on lonve from the service) and Esther Ann, o S' " ' " -'si Don and Verleen Larson and three children and Neil and Janice Larson Lar-son and two children all of Carson City, Nev. The MIA's operetta, ALL IN FAVOR, under the direction of Mrs. Dorothy Damron, drama director, and Mrs. Lyla Rae Morris, music director, is being cast at the present pre-sent time and will be presented in the middle of February. Darrell and Alice Gaye Scow went back to Logan Sunday after spending the holidays with their parents. Mrs. Enid Damron returned to Cedar to school after being home for the holidays. Carolyn and Waldo Warnick, Jr. and Sandra and Alan, have gone home to Roy after their holiday visit here. ,Mrs. Elva Skem and little children child-ren have gone back to Idaho for Elva to resume her school teaching. Carma and Bob Wright and son, Scott of Atwater visited with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rodney Wright and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Ekins from Friday until Sunday. While here their son was baptized by his grandfather Wright and con firmed the next day by his grandfather grand-father Ekins. They visited other relatives and friends here also. ElDean and Duane Ekins and son of Tooele were here to visit. Sunday a special Fire-side meeting meet-ing was held at the church at 10 p.m. prior to the beginning of the dance in Delta. At the home of Reva and Lynn Talbot on Nev Year's Day were Reva's mother, Mrs. Lulu Gull, and her sister and husband, Roma and Howard Bird, all of Meadow. Paul and Freida Whicker of Ogden Og-den visited with their girls, Bonnie Manis and Barbara Thompson. On New Year's Day, Bonnie had them all to her place for a family dinner. Marge and Lee Judd went to Richfield Sunday to visit with their daughter and family, Suzanne and John Ashurst and little boy Kevin. They came home Monday. All of the college students have returned to their school work. We miss them when they leave. When Mrs. Vera Bishop was up north, she attended the openhouse for the new location of the Indian Placement Program of which her son, Clare is an employee. Vera and Heber Bishop recently observed their 48th wedding anniversary. an-niversary. Congratulations to them. They were confined to a rather casual observance of the event due to Heber's recent illness, but several sever-al of their children and families were here to acknowledge the day with them. The Gale Bennett family drove to Salt Lake Saturday. They tried out their new car they got as a Christmas present. They visited in Salt Lake with Gale's folks, Vaun and Phyllis Bennett; at Grantsville with Natalie's family, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Hale, Terry and Margie, and at West Jordan with Phil and Marilyn Bennett. For the holiday season, our Chapel was decorated very tastefully taste-fully and beautifully in blue and white by Mrs. Julia Carpenter. Julia does such wonderful art work. Gaylen and Kathy Cropper ac companied by Connie and Doug I Turner went- to Las Vegas thisi week. Rich and Sandra are staying with their grandparents Cropper. The Ron Shumway family are on a vacation in Phoenix this week for a few days. Mathew Steele accompanied Shel don Western to California this week. Mary Ellis Bishop has been with her family during the holidays. Mr. and Mrs. Perry Tippetts went to Hurricane one day last week to see Perry's mother. Edith Ann Wafnick spent some of last week in Salt Lake with an I aunt. The rest of the family went' up later and they all visited points of interest at Temple Square. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Herron have had friends here to visit them from Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Klienman of Gardena, had been at Montpel-ier Montpel-ier to see their daughter and they stopped on their way home to stay overnight with the Herrons. Mrs. Valyn Dutson and children spent several days in Price this week to visit some of the holidays with her family, Clark and Vi Draper Dra-per and children Jeannie and Dean. They returned home the last of the week. Mrs. Jerri Taylor entertained at a family dinner on New Year's Day. Guests were Mr. and Mrs. Ren Taylor Tay-lor and Ralph and Mr. and Mrs. Mark Herron. Sv.o-'!--n Ilrrdy returned home 'oni Salt Lake Sunday afternoon after spending several days in Salt Lake with Sharon and family. Sharon and Dave and the children brought her down. They went back to Salt Lake Monday and Teresa stayed here with us. Everyone in the area has been deeply saddened at the news of the death of Raymond Adams, son of Verdella an John Adams. Deepest Deep-est sympathy is extended to all the-family. the-family. All who knew Raymond admired ad-mired and liked him. He has given his life in the service of hiscountry and for each of us, and to him we owe much gratitude. Vera and Heber Bishop returned home from up north last Tuesday. Their son, Lars, brought them home. They had been in Bountiful and Heber in the hospital since the fore part of Nevember when ne suffered a stroke. He is recovering quite wellbut will not be up to par for some time yet to come. Lars stayed over Tuesday night then returned to his home in Pay-son. Pay-son. The Judd Hardy family spent the week at the Carl Hardys. Judd was working over at the hospital. They returned home at the end of the week. I received word this week that my sister, Betty Mayer's little girl, Kelly, is seriously ill in a hospital in California.
