DAVID BOHN From the Office Of the Principal This is again the same old story of attendance, A. D. A., and fin ancing our schools from moneys. This letter came to me the other day, which is explanatory. 1 think it should be written to parents as well as to school officials. Dear Principal: We note that your attendance for the month of November has fallen below the A.D.A. from which we have based our current budget As you know, we receive our uniform school fund from the state based on A.D.A. Would you initiate whatever measures you feel necessary to stimulate an increase in your A.D.A. Our financial status at present is not promising and if we happen to fall below 96 A. D. A we will be in financial straits. If this did occur, we would, of course, have to make budget cuts based on AD. A. Sincerely, Vermon S. Yet we have many who leave school for reasons other than sickness and work. We have people leave school to go to Provo and Salt Lake to shop, or they stay out for a week to hunt deer or three and four days to hunt pheasants, or they just simply stay home to sleep. Every day in school Is imDortant for at least two reasons. First, stu dents need the instruction, which, of course, is the main reason. Second, Sec-ond, each day's attendance gives to our district money from the state to help buy supplies and e-quipment e-quipment to maintain our education educa-tion program. I plead with you to help us keep our A. D. A, at approximately the 96 average. Skeem at this time. The students and faculty of D.H.S. are sorrowed by the passing of a fellow student and friend ours is a great loss. We will miss Brent SUE ANN LUDWIG EL RUE ALLDREDGE OUR LITERATIM- Have you ever wondered about Santa Claus? Is he really a jolly little fat man with a white beard? According to the dictionary it says, "see Saint Nicholas." Well, I did and it said "Saint Nicholas is a patron saint of Russia." II also added that his name has been corrupted cor-rupted to "Santa Claus." WelL even though the corruption of a language lan-guage is somewhat different from the corruption of a people, it still sounds rather suspicious, doesn't it? There are some other suspicious things too that I found in the Encyclopedia. En-cyclopedia. For example, it stated "Santa Claus Is aMythiccd old man who brings gifts to children at Christmas." Mythical? In another place it added "Santa's appearance began to change about he same time as his name." Now how many real people change their name and appearance? And when they do, what do we have to say about them? While I was doing all this research re-search I discovered an amazing thing. There is a real Santa Claus. It is a town in Indiana. Although I have stated a few reasons to doubt Santa Claus, I really do believe in him. I get presents pre-sents every Christmas from Santa Claus too.
