I went to Salt Lake and I didn't get back in time to get it to Delta. Inez, Gayl, Wade and I spent the night in Salt Lake then Sunday morning went to Logan and saw Roger and Nyra. Went out to see the grave of Martin Harris. Well, school is out now, poor parents. par-ents. But then I guess the school teachers need a vacation, too. Mr. and Mrs. Welby Lovell and Ethyl went to Salt Lake Saturday morning to see the new grandson born to Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Ashby. Alta is staying in Salt Lake this week to help Loma with the new baby. Mr. and Mrs. Tom Harrison and family (sister of Louise's) stayed the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. La-Forge La-Forge Lovell and family. Will all the boys and girls who are taking Home Ground Improvement Improve-ment from Gayl and I, please meet at my house Thursday at 4:00 p.m. Mrs. Violet Nielson of Salt Lake visited at the home of son Grant and Louise and family over the weekend. Also Louise's nephew,E-van nephew,E-van Emaret is staying with them for a while. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Neilsen and family spent Decoration Day in Mo-na. Mo-na. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Grygla and son and Mr. and Mrs. Jay Grygla are staying for a few days with mother and brothers, Mrs. Clara Johnson, Lee and Kent. Mr. and Mrs. George Evans were in town Saturday, also. Gordon Lovell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jerold Lovell graduated from Tech School in Provo last Thursday Thurs-day n'ght in mechanics. Gordon is working in Nephi at Painters Garage Gar-age as a mechanic. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Anderson and family, Mrs. Essie Crouch, Mr. and Mrs. Don Anderson and family and Mrs. Roslie Bank and family and many more friends and relatives of Mrs. Hattie Anderson visited with her over and on the Memorial Mem-orial Day weekend. Mrs. Delta Rowe and Mrs. Zella Ogden of California were here also al-so on Memorial Day. They returned Saturday taking Claudine Nielson as far as Cedar City with them where she will visit with Mr. and Mrs. Dick Gunn and family. Mr. and Mrs. Charley Gunn are in Cedar City now. Claudine will return with them Tuesday. Master Norman Lovell, son of Mr. and Mrs. LaForge Lovell, had a party par-ty on his 7th birthday last Friday, May 29. Many little boys and girls from Lynn, and Learn, were invited. invit-ed. Cookies and ice cream were served. Glen Lee Roper, David Hansen and DeAnn Nielson were students home over the weekend. Miss Ethyl Lovell has completed her training in Salt Lake as a hair stylist and is employed at Zerma's Shop in Delta. She's very good folks give her a chance to show what she can do. Visitors at the home of Mrs. Margaret Mar-garet Bradfield over the weekend were Mrs. Vernon Bradfield of Scl- pio, Mrs. Bonnie Bosh and children of Levan, Mr. and Mrs. Bus Bennett and Mr. and Mrs. Jene Bennett and children of Tooele, Mr. and Mrs. Jay Bradfield and family of Las Vegas, Mrs. Rama Hemes of Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Brad' field of Lynn., Mr. and Mrs. Dern Williams and family of Fillmore and Mrs. Jane Williams. Jane has been staying with Maggie quite a b t lately. We all miss Jane very much and wish she were back here to stay. This is still home to Jane and wish she were back with us. Mr. and Mrs. Randall Bradfield were in Nephi Saturday afternoon having a family get-together with her brothers and sisters at her brother, bro-ther, Clarence's home. Mr. and Mrs. Bob (Susan) Wea-gel Wea-gel and son of Midvale, Mr. and Mrs. Joe (Elizabeth) Foy and child ren of Panguitch and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Finlinson and family of Salt Lake spent Memorial Day weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Rich Finlinson and family. Mr. and Mrs. Sid Seaxle and fa-m fa-m ly of Orem and Mr. and Mrs. Bus Nielson and daughter of Farming-ton Farming-ton stayed with parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wells Nielson over the weekend. week-end. Little Susie Searle is staying with grandpa and grandma Nielson Niel-son for a week. Mr. and Mrs. Austin (Fern) Wil-den Wil-den and family of Salt Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Will Lovell and family fam-ily of Vernon stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Ben Lovell and Mr. and Mrs. Bud McCann and Deaun. over the weekend. Mr. and Mrs. Frank (Arvilla) Dean were in town over the weekend week-end visiting with brothers. Mr. Wallace Nielson, Mr. and Mrs. Merrit Nielson and family of Roy, Annette and family of Henderson, Nev., and Lorraine and son of Kan- osh were here Saturday. Sorry I missed them but I went to Tooele and then on into Salt Lake in the afternoon for Memorial Day. There were so many people at the cemetery Saturday morning. I'll try to remember a few: Theries and LaWrena Memmott of Spanish Fork, Mr, Heber Sorenson and two daughters Ilia and Ruby of Murray, Mrs. Rosalie Banks and family of Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony (De-liah) (De-liah) Stephenson from Delta, Mr, and Mrs. Albert (Lillian) Hansen and family of Fairview, Mrs. Rose Olsen of Springville. Also Parley Overson and sister Louise Bennett. Parley is living in a rest home in Provo. Mrs. Noxa Nielson and boys The! lo, Oren and Colleen and family were here Saturday, also. Mrs. Merl Minlinson spent Men orial Day in Meadow. 4-H NEWS The Horse Riding Club, "The Gal loping Gals" was held May 27th. We learned feeds that horses need and safety rules to use when work ing with a horse. Our teacher was Klee Finlinson. The Horse Riding Club was held Sunday, May 31. We learned how to bridle a horse and saddle a horse. Our teacher was Rich Finlin son. Reporter, Betty Ann Wichmann THE KOOL KITCHEN COOKS are still cooking. The last time I wrote we were making muffins. We had muffins, raisin date nut muffins, spicy crust muffins and the next, week we made cookies: drop cookies, cook-ies, sugar cookies, molasses cookies cook-ies and the next week we made some candy: honey kisses, marsh-mallow marsh-mallow crispies, razzle dazzle. And this week we are ' making some more candy: honey fondant, butterscotch butter-scotch bon bons and brown sugar fudge. Reporter, Deaun McCann Poulsen-Teeples Nuptials Set Miss Susan Tecples will become the bride of Mr. Jim Poulsen Saturday Sat-urday in wedding rites performed at Deseret Stake Center. Bridal parents are Mr. and Mrs. Ned Tee pies and Mr. and Mrs. Arch Poulsen. The newlyweds will be honored at a reception beginning at 9:00 p.m. Dancing and a program are on the agenda. The many friends of the young couple are cordially invited to attend. To Speak Yoivs Exchanging wedding vows Saturday, Satur-day, June 6 in Manti LDS Temple rites will be Miss Florence Fears, daughter of Mrs. Aza Fears and Wayne Lyle Voocheis, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Robert Voocheis of New York City. An open house honoring the young couple is planned for that evening from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. in Delta Second Ward. Former Deltans, Dick and Joyce Long are the proud parents of a new baby girl born May 23. The wee miss weighed 6 lbs. 8-oz. Mr. and Mrs. Long are now residing In Orem. He was the band instructor of Delta High School while residing resid-ing in Delta. THE "FOUR COOKETTES" MEET The "Four Cookettes" met May 8th at the home of our leader, Wyora Jeffery to organize our club. We decided on our name and e-lected e-lected our officers. As there are only four of us we each have a job. Roberta Shields, Pres.; Paulene Bunker, Vice Pres.; Shirley Jensen, Sec, and Lauretta Jeffery, Reporter. ' Mrs. John Peterson went to Enterprise En-terprise for the Memorial weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Farns-worth Farns-worth and visit with her brothers and sisters there. FAMILY GET-TOGETHER A family get-together was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Kelly Saturday. Present for the pot-luck pot-luck dinner and visiting were: Mrs. Kelly's father from Ontario, Calif., Mr. R. L. Black, another daughter, Ila Crowley, Salt Lake City, Mrs. George Wilde, Debbie Writhurge, Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. Max Nis- anger, Provo, Mr. and Mrs. Dee Black and daughters, Delene and Paula, Deseret, Mrs. Mary Hughes and daughters, Cindee, Judy and Susan, Long Beach Calif., Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Black, Mr. and Mrs, Keith Black and family, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Edwards and sons, Kim and Craig, Mr. and Mrs. Max Black and son Jeffery and Mr. and Mrs. Shirl Black. Out-of-town visitors visit-ors were here to observe Memorial Day. : Mr. and Mrs. Ed Miller amended the graduation exercises at Utah Trade Tech. Thursday evening where their son, Kent, received a diploma in Auto Mechanics. Other Delta students receiving certificates of accomplishment from the school are Fred L. Jackson, Electronic Technology; Garry M. Tolbert, Die sel Mechanics; E. Joan Phillips, Business Practice and Garry Ray Sampson, Barbering. Luana Anderson To Speak Vows Miss Luana Anderson will become be-come the bride of Burl D. Evans Friday, June 5. Bridal parents are Mr. and Mrs. Rulon D. Anderson, Sutherland and Mr. and Mrs. William Wil-liam E. Evans, Kansas City, Mo. A reception honoring the newly- weds will be held later that same evening at Sutherland Ward Hall. There will be a program and dancing. '56 Class Reunion DHS graduates of 1956 SHOULD circle the -date of Friday, June 12 on their calendars as this is the date of the 1956 Reunion. The reunion re-union will be held at Liberty Park (9th So. 7th East, Salt Lake City) near the red brick enclosure in the center of the park. Registration gets underway at 2:00 p.m. and each registrant will be charged a $1.00 fee to cover cost of arranging for party and facilities. facili-ties. Plans for the day call for visiting classmates, eating, picture viewing and all kinds of games, including dancing. Each class member is asked to bring own lunch or eats can be bought at the park snack bar. In either event, the day holds many good promises. USU Institute Junior high school teachers of science and mathematics will receive re-ceive an opportunity for improving their subject matter competence through a summer institute to be held at Utah State University. The National Science Foundation has granted funds to the university to support the June 8 to August 14 program. Among the participants will be Arlyn J. Finlinson, instructor at Delta Junior High School, Delta. Courses in basic principles of biological bio-logical science, first principles of phys cs, and basic mathematics will be offered. Participants will receive $75 per week living stipends, plus stipends for dependents, travel allowances, and free tuition. Mrs. Jennie Lee of Kearns, writes to say that the first shipment to a Korean orphanage was sent Friday, Fri-day, May 29.; Mrs. Lee had 113 boxes box-es of clothing, toys, canned goods, etc. which weighed approximately 1500 pounds. Mrs. Lee is already collecting for a future shipment Mrs. Lee is a sister of Mrs. Vilda Perkins. Mr. and Mrs. Thurlow Wiley and son, Gary, of Granger, spent the weekend with Mrs. Wiley's mother, Mrs. Betsy Skeem. Weekend visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fon Hawley were Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Larson and son, Craig and Mr. and Mrs. Art Strang, Salt Lake City; Mr. and Mrs. Newell New-ell Cahoon, Logan, and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Carling and children of Murray. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Justensen and family of Kearns visited with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Skeem. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Swenson and family and Mrs. Hilda Gillen of Salt Lake City visited with Mr. and Mrs. Deon Gillen. Mr. and Mrs. Ward Stan worth and family and Mr. and Mrs. Max Stanwcrth and family of Salt Lake City spent the day with Mrs. Ethel M. Stanworth. Mrs. Betty Day, Beverly and Warren War-ren of Provo visited with Mr. and Mrs. Leo Day. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Russell and children of Salt Lake were home for the weekend. They report that their little girl is improving a lot. They stayed with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Day. Edna, Ida and Pat were here for Memorial Day. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Anderson and children also visited in Oasis for Memorial Day. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Cahoon of Las Vegas were home with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Cahoon. Cassie Johnson had her two daughters dau-ghters home, Deloris and Betty and their husbands and families, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Alf Bishop of Salt Lake. Delene Skeem is spending a week in Salt Lake with cousins Karen Justensen and Evelyn Bradfield. Mr. and Mrs. William Jenkins and son, Randy, of Salt Lake City were here for their daughter's graduation, gradua-tion, Mrs. Ralph Nichols. Other Oasis graduates from DHS were Rex Warnick, Marcus Skeem, Robert Anderson, Lois Peterson, Coleen Gillen, Sue Willoughby and Gwen Stanworth. We are very proud of these graduates and wish them all good luck. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Nichols had Mr. and Mrs. Main Bond and Laura and Mr. and Mrs. Horace Wilkins to visit them for Memorial Day. Mr. and Mrs. Hatch Sundquist of Vernal and Mr. George Jenson were in Oasis for Memorial Day service. Johnnie McCormick and Alan Justensen spent a few days with Lee Skeem. Mrs. Abbie Hanson and daughter, Laura and children and Jay Hanson of Salt Lake City were here to see Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Cahoon. Mr. and Mrs. Don Day and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Day attended funeral services for a cousin in Provo recently. re-cently. Mr. and Mrs. Rex Babbitt of Roy visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Skeem. Mr. arid Mrs. Gary Webb of Spanish Span-ish Fork were home. This is just a few of the people who visited in Oasis on Memorial Day. There was a large crowd attending at-tending the services. Teacher Party Mr. and Mrs. Hatch Farnsworth of Hatch's City Cafe entertained the teachers and their partners of Delta Jr. and Sr. High Schools with a steak dinner Tuesday. The dinner din-ner was held at Oak City Canyon where the steaks were served just the way the teachers ordered them. A hearty thank you was expressed ex-pressed to Mr. and Mrs. Farnsworth for this fine gesture. - West Desert ROUNDUP VELMA TIMM A program (closing of school) was held at the Callao School House May 23. Robert Sims and Barbara Stopp graduated from the eighth grade. The Partoun School had a, program pro-gram on May 26th. Janet Cra'ndell graduated from the eighth grade. . I attended Seminary graduation exercises in Nephi at the Juab Stake House, where my daughter Betty Sims graduated from Seminary. Semin-ary. Mrs. tlnez Tripp is spending a few days visiting in Lehi. A farewell party for Mr. and Mrs. Kelly Parker and family was held at Fish Springs. They are being transferred to a Wildlife Refuge in Oklahoma. They will leave June 10. We are sorry to see them leave. Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Tripp and Delora spent Memorial Day in Delta. Del-ta. While there they attended Conference. Con-ference. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Bates of Wells, Nevada have a new baby girl. This is the second child for Ronald and Wanda. Proud grandparents grand-parents are Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Bates of Gandy. Our sympathy goes out to the Elmer Bates family on the loss of Mary Bates, wife and mother. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Judd and family of Las Vegas visited Lela's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Lee at Trout Creek. AH for now see you next week.
