The accident occurred Sunday Sun-day about 3:00 a.m. when Sterling Sagers of Salt Lake and Mrs. Sa-gers Sa-gers of Lynndyl turned over in their automobile 12 miles west of Nephi. According to the Highway Patrol the auto failed to make a curve in the road and rolled over 1 times coming to rest on its top. Both occupants were thrown clear of the wrecked car. Cristal, believing Sterling was seriously injured, in-jured, set out for help. When found about 6 a.m., she was in a semi-conscious condition, crawling along the highway. She was taken to the Juab hospital in Nephi where she was treated for cuts, bruises and frozen hands, feet and face. Box 4 Leamington, Utah January 10, 1964 Editor Millard County Chronicle Delta, Utah Dear Editor: Although I do not subscribe to the Chronicle, I did read the "Down Yawnder" column in the January 9th issue in which you supported the school board's decision concerning con-cerning driver's training saying that same "rightfully "belongs with parents not taxpayers!" I i reel compeuea u disagree ior several reasons. First those par- ets who would take the time to instruct their teenagers would teach their own bad, as well as good, habits; they are not professional profes-sional driving instructors. Second-as Second-as taxpayers we are paying for driver's training every time we buy license plates for our motor vehicles ve-hicles whether we receive such training or not. Third statistics indicate that teenagers who have had driver's training are less accident acci-dent prone than those who have not. Fourth as taxpayers we should realize that traffic accidents cost us millions of dollars every year. Too many of these accidents are incurred through ignorance of the laws, toad driving manners and ignorance of simple safety procedures, proced-ures, i.e., those very elements at which the training courses are aimed. Fifth we also pay through increased insurance premiums. For all these reasons, then, it would seem to me that such a school board decision would toe less than wise. And, after all, traffic accidents acci-dents killed more people than ever toefore in Utah in 1963. A human life is a terrible price to pay needlessly. need-lessly. Sincerely, N.
