Show i ! ! FIRST WARD AREA MEWS BRIEFS LEONA WORKS Visitors at the Perry Winsor home for Memor.al Day were Mr. and Mrs. Norman (Clara Beth) Welch and children from California. They went north to attend graduation gradua-tion exercises at USU in Logan, where Mr. Welch's mother was graduating. They went into Idaho to vis't with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stewart and family. Mr. Welch is going on home and Clara Beth is coming to Delta for a longer visit with her parents. Mrs. Laura Renin and her son Verland of Gridley, Calif., have spent the past week in Delta with the Ray Westerns,- Berniece and Gertrude. They have been getting genealogy of the Wesern side of their family. They attended the Western reunion at Deseret Saturday Satur-day and left early Sunday morning to return home. Mrs. Hazel Staton of Henderson, Nevada, came to Delta to see the Ronald Jensen family. She left Wednesday morning for Salt Lake to visit Gale in the LDS Hospital. Gale has been in the hospital about ' a month and has a paralyzing di-' di-' sease that has made her unable to ' do anything for herself. They have put a tube in her throat to aid her , breathing. Ronald has gone up to- day (Sunday) to see her. I'm sure she would enjoy cards or letters from all her friends. ' Mrs. Tony Dearden from Fillmore and Mrs. Kent Marlor from Orem visited Saturday afternoon in Delta Del-ta w.'th Mrs. Blanch Works, June Smith, Alisha Jackson and Leona Works. Mrs. Dearden and Mrs. Marlor Mar-lor are daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Grant (Geneal Works) Stevens. Mrs. Ted Knight and three children child-ren Sherie, Sheila and Kayce of Las Vegas spent Memorial Day in Don't let them down., T Got more MILK for the weekend! Dad will be home from work. Mr. and Mrs. Don Pratt and child ren of Salt Lake were in Delta for Memorial Day. They spent from Wednesday until Friday with Mr.' and Mrs. John I. Pratt. I Mrs. Darrell Taylor and children Russell and Michele, Shannon Iver-son Iver-son and Sharon Hopkins went to Salt Lake Tuesday for a visit. Jean Ashton who had been visiting with her parents returned home with them. Sid Davis is home from school at USU. I guess he will be tying flies for fishermen this summer. Richard Dekker who has been visiting in Delta with his mother for three weeks returned to his job Tuesday in Colorado. He has been working with Hamilton Voller, Consulting Engineers. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Draper and daughter Elizabeth Ann and VeAnn ' Draper from Salt Lake visited with the Clark Drapers. This will probably prob-ably be Reed's last visit before he leaves to go east on a job. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis McPherson of Salt Lake spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. John I. Pratt and Mrs. Lynn Warnick went with Mr. and Mrs. Glen Swalberg and sons to American Fork Sunday afternoon after-noon to attend a missionary farewell fare-well for Elder Lynn Warnick. He is going to the Swedish Mission. Lynn is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Warnick, former Deltans. They have three sons, all of which will or have fulfilled missions, Bill to the Canadian, and Merrill is now on a Japanese mission. j Mrs. John Pratt and Mrs. Helen Swalberg went to Provo last Thursday Thurs-day to take Paul Swalberg to Camp Maple Dell. Saturday they went to bring him home. Mrs. Carrie Short from Sacramento, Sacramen-to, Calif., is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bringard. Mr. Gene Bringard and son Norman Nor-man of Salt Lake spent the weekend week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Bringard. Bring-ard. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Gardner were nieces of Mrs. Gardner's, Gard-ner's, Mrs. Jane Doxey and children child-ren of Ogden and Mrs. Laurel Doxey Dox-ey and children of Salt Lake. They were here for the weekend and enjoyed a day in Oak Creek Canyon Can-yon fishing. Dale McCormick is home with his parents. He has been going to USU in Logan. M'sses Delene, Joan and Sonya Ashby went to Logan last Thursday with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Ashby of Fillmore to attend open house for Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Thome. They were married mar-ried Thursday in the Logan Temple. Tem-ple. Friday evening a reception was held in Fillmore First Ward. Mr. and Mrs. Dell Ashby attended. Mr. and Mrs. Ladd Holt and two children of Salt Lake were in Del-, son of the late Alton and Afton Holt and a grandson of Mrs. Elida Taylor. He is teaching at the University Uni-versity of Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Kenney Griner of Granger announce the arrival of a baby boy. Kenney is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil (Vilate Taylor) Griner. Gri-ner. He is teaching school near Granger. The speaker in meeting Sunday n'ght was Elder Douglas Lovell, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Lovell. He has just recently returned from a mission to South America in the Brazil section. He had to learn the language of the Portuguese. He gave a very interesting talk and I'm sure everyone enjoyed hearing him. Mrs. Lovell came with her son. Patty Peterson and Nedra Fullmer Full-mer are home. Larry Ashby and Lonnie Jackson visited the First Ward Sunday nite. ers were Reece Finlinson and Kenneth Ken-neth Finlinson. They both gave very fine talks on the Restoration of the Melchizedek Priesthood. Both talks were given in a very fine way and was enjoyed by those present. Recommends for the Al-den Al-den Nielson family were read and accepted. Michael Scott Nielson was ordained to the teachers quorum. quor-um. Mr. and Mrs. Daryl Dalton and family of Clearfield visited several days with parents, Bert and Nellie Roper and other relatives. Mrs. Blaine Christensen spent last week visiting in Newton, Utah with her relatives. Mr. Peter Nielson returned home after a week visiting in Idaho with his son Glen and family. Mr. and Mrs. Elden Coleman of Helper visited overnight with his s'ster, Eldonna Anderson and family. fa-mily. Scott Sheriff and Steven Lovell graduated from CSU. Mr. and Mrs. Burton Lovell and Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Sheriff attended the graduation grad-uation exercises." Thelma Dutson, sister of Lila was also a graduate of CSU. Mr. Monte Nielson left Sunday for Camp Williams to report to the National Guard summer camp for a couple of weeks. Elder Kyle Jacobson's dance and program Saturday night drew a large crowd out. Kyle is the son of Maiben and Enid Jacobson. He will enter the mission home Monday, June 10. His mission labors will be in the Central States. All at the dance and program report a good time to honor Kyle before leaving. We are proud and happy to have our boys leave for a mission. Kyle will make the ninth missionary Oak City will have at present. We hope to have more leave in the near future. Mrs. Ray Lovell and children visited vis-ited in Salt Lake this weekend, especially es-pecially will she visit her husband Ray at the Veterans Hospital. Roy and Geniel Martin and children child-ren and Claudia Glade visited two or three days with parents, Ivan and Susan Shipley. They did some fishing while here. Mrs. Merlene Schmutz and children child-ren spent the past week visiting in Oak City with parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Lovell. The week before Bruce Lovell's children, Debra, Karen, Ka-ren, Leslie and William visited with Merlene and family in St. George. Mrs. Zella Lovell, Mrs. Ava Anderson An-derson and Susan Shipley were in Salt Lake Thursday to attend a program given by the Allegro Chorus. Chor-us. There are 70 ladies in the chorus chor-us of which their sister Rachel Melville is one. The chorus is led by Mr. Bert Keddington of Salt Lake. They report a very enjoyable j evening. J The recital of Mrs. Afton Dutson and Mrs. Eldonna Anderson Sunday Sun-day afternoon was well attended. All taking part did very well. Congratulations Con-gratulations to these music teachers teach-ers and the 45 people taking part. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Finlinson, RaNae, Robert and Douglas were in Salt Lake Sunday with their children Janet and David and their families. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Anderson and children Doreen, Karen, Janet and Charlene and Mrs. Helen Anderson were in Salt Lake visiting and I shopping Thursday. Mrs. Marion Anderson went to Salt Lake Saturday for a physical checkup and visit. The Cub Scouts had a pack meet ing and program Thursday evening. The Scouts and families and visitors. visit-ors. A state historical museum, Camp Hancock, the Dakota Zoo and the outdoor drama, Trail West, portraying port-raying events leading up to the battle of the Little Big Horn, are area attractions.
