Vodak Tractor and Service ASCS STRIVES TO IMPROVE The Government is continually striving to improve the services to farmers, through the County Agricultural Agri-cultural Stabilization and Conservation Conser-vation Service and the committee system. Mrs. Carol S. Kesler, Mrs. Afton Cooper and Mrs. Paige Ann Jackson, will attend a work shop for County Office Clerks, to be held in Salt Lake City on March 1, 1963. The purpose of this workshop is to give training to clerks which will be beneficial in improving the Agricultural Ag-ricultural Stabilization and Conservation Conser-vation Service, to farmers. Similiar work shops have been held for County Office Managers and County Committeemen. Gene A. Walker Chairman of the County ASC Committee, stated that any suggestions for improvement of service by the county organiza tion would be welcomed. Details of 1963 Programs Listed Gene A. Walker, Chairman of the ASC County Committee, wanted farmers reminded that they have until March 22, to sign-up for par ticipation in the 1963 Feed Grain and Wheat Stabilization Programs. This date also applies to the Crop land Conversion Program, for which Millard County is a pilot county. Mr. Walker reported that to date there has been 106 producers sign up to participate in the Feed Grain Program and 294 farmers sign-up to take part in the Wheat Stabili zation Program, Considerable inter est is also being shown in the new Cropland Conversion Program. in order to participate in the Feed Grain Program farmers must divert at least 20 percent of their base acreage to conserving uses. An incentive payment is provided for all those who participate and it is possible to divert up to 40 percent in this program. The Wheat Stabilization Program permits a farmer to divert a minimum mini-mum of 20 percent and a maximum of 50 percent to conserving uses. An incentive payment is also provided pro-vided under this program, to maintain main-tain the income from cropland. Under Un-der both programs an advance payment pay-ment is provided at the time of sign-up, which amounts to 50 percent per-cent of the payment. The availability of price support loans and farm storage facility loans depends on whether a farmer participates in these programs or not. Producers who filed an intention inten-tion to participate in the Wheat Stabilization Program in the fall of 1962 will not be able to increase their diversion this spring, however, wheat producers who have not filed an intention, may do so by March 22nd. Mr. Walker stated that the coun ty committee is anxious to have farmers inxestigate these programs to evaluate carefully their provisions provi-sions and see if they apply to their farms.
