Show Mill at d County Chronicle Thursday, May 17, 1962 WEST DESERT ROUIID-UP SHIRLEY ROBERTS We had a good attendance at our Sunday School an Mother's Day. A program was given by our girls and boys and enjoyed by all. The mothers were given a beautiful beauti-ful flower. This Saturday, May 19, we plan to take our pentathlon champions into the grand finals at South High School In Salt Lake City, It hasn't been the best kind of weather for the boys to work-out in, and I should say girls too. We have two girls from Gandy that showed unusual skill in the pentathlon. penta-thlon. They are Roxann and Linda Hyde. Mr. Keith West, the Deseret News Pentathlon Director, said It would be fine if some lady athletes from out here came In and showed the boys from all over (several states) just how to run and go through the whole routine. We believe be-lieve that these girls can do it! We sure hope that they are able to go. Hope it's good weather then. Our stake visitors shall be out this Sunday, the 20th. Lathel Cal-lister Cal-lister of the Stake High Council Is scheduled to visit us. We will have a fine lunch served at the chapel for everyone. Anyone who is footloose foot-loose may come and feel welcome to partake of the promised spiritual and temporal feast. We just love to have visitors come out and make their acquaintance. Hinckley School To Present Spring Dance Festival On Thursday, May 17, at 8:00 p. m. the Hinckley Elementary School will present a Spring Dance Festival and Physical Fitness Demonstration, Dem-onstration, the theme being "A-round "A-round the World." Tickets are 75 cents for adults; 50 cents for school children, whether whe-ther elementary, jr. high "or hign school age. Pre-school children will be admitted for 25 cents. The program will demonstrate briefly the skills being learned by the students in their physical education edu-cation classes In the school. This year President Kennedy nas re quested that all schools put stronger strong-er emphasis on this phase of the child's development, Although we have always had a good physical education program, it has. been in creased since the nation-wide stress in this field. The dancing Is part of the physi cal education program, and we have followed the theme of "A-round "A-round the World" as an outgrowth of some of the social studies pro gram. 'Learning to understand na tions is learning to live peacefully with them. The dances demonstrate demon-strate only part of understanding people of the various nations.
