RETURNS AFTER SURGERY Mrs. Charles (Agnes) Allen re turned to her home at Delta Monday Mon-day after a stay in Salt Lake City where she had heart surgery Jan 24 at the L.D.S. Hospital. Mr. Allen was in Salt Lake over the weekend week-end and brought his wife home. She was released from the hospital the week before and spent last week at the home of Mr. and Mrs. M. H. Allen. Mrs. Allen is now recovering re-covering very well, after the critical criti-cal days following the surgery. Now rest and a diet of strengthening strengthen-ing foods are prescribed as she continues her recovery. COMMISSIONED Mr. and Mrs. Lincoln Cropper, of Deseret, had a visit by telephone during the week with their daughter daugh-ter and son-in-law, Maxine and J. C. (Clyde) Waller, who told them he was recently commissioned lieutenant lieu-tenant colonel in the U. S. Army. Lt. Col. Waller is an Army lawer, at the Pentagon, Washington, D. C. He and Mrs. Waller and their children, child-ren, Laurie, Richard, James and Elizabeth, make their home at Springfield, Va. Chapter Mo- Viil Call Sunday In Behalf of Heart Association The West Millard Heart Ass'n is busy this week making final preparations pre-parations for Heart Sunday, Feb. 25. The drive will be conducted on Sunday afternoon in conjunction with the natioal drive sponsored by the American Heart Association. Money will be used to finance research into the cause, prevention and cure of heart disease. The campaign cam-paign will be of special Interest to Deltans this year because of the recent open-heart surgeries performed per-formed on local people. Such operations oper-ations are a direct result of the contributions made to the Heart Fund. Mrs. Willis Morrison, local chairman, chair-man, announces that the following people are handling the drive in these areas: Ray Brown, Hinckley: Mel Scow, Deseret; Mrs. Howard Roundy, Oasis; Eeatrice Schena. "SERVING Volume 52 Number 34 Pledge Paymenis Asked for By Hospital Board With the West Millard Hospital building now nt aring completion, the committee is launching a drive io get in all the money pledged tor the fund. A letter will be sent to each person who signed a pledge. The committee holds pledges tot-lling tot-lling some $38,000, of this amount, 53760 has been paid in so far, leaving leav-ing about $34,240 still outstanding. For years, the Hospital Associa-.on Associa-.on worked to build up the fund, so that when the work was started there was $112,000 cash on hand. The cost of building materials and supplies of all kinds has necessitated necessi-tated the expenditure of large a-mounts a-mounts of this money since the building was started. For this reason, rea-son, the comm.ttee Is urging all pledgees to bring in their contributions contribu-tions as fast as possible. While many will work out their pledges, and contributions in th s manner are highly acceptable, there is still need for more cash, and it is hoped that a good many will pay up in cash. Farm Bureau Elects Officers at Annual Meeting Jim Nickle was re-elected to head Millard County Farm Bureau for another year at the Farm Bureau Bu-reau Banquet, held in Scipio Saturday Sat-urday night. Ben Stott is the Vice President of the organization with Owen Gardner Gard-ner holding the office of Secretary. On the Executive Committee are Leo Robins, Ken Porter and Jim Rowley. The Farm Bureau Auxiliary reelected re-elected Melva Finlinson as president presi-dent for the year, with Stella Johnson John-son as Vice President. Bertha O-wens O-wens and Laurel Stott are Executive Execu-tive Committee members. The banauet. which was well at- tended, featured' Reed Benson as guest speaker. The Delta Jr. Sr. H gh School P. T.A. selected Mr. Seegmiller and Mrs. Pearson for this honor because of the very significant contributions contribu-tions given and their long years of service. Mr. Seegmiller was the first P.T. A. President at Delta. He served 17 years as Principal of D.H.S. and 17 years as 2nd vice president in P.T.A. He is now in his 34th year of teaching. During his years as principal the shop was built. Hot Lunch program was started, football foot-ball field built, and the high school became acrredited. He served as President of Millard Education Association; As-sociation; was a member of Board of Utah Activities Association for five years: was a faculty member for Utah State University Extension Division. He has been active in civ ic and church nd other youth ac-! tivlties, as Ward M.IA. Supt, Ward and Stake Board member, and Priesthood teacher. Saturday in a snowstorm when it went down in Mud Lake 12 miles south of Delta. Mr. Carling, na-t na-t ve of Fillmore and Salt Lake businessman, was enroute from Prescott, Ariz., to Salt Lake, and was last heard from at 4:24 p. m. Saturday when he contacted the Federal Ariation Agency in Delta, said Harlen W. Bement. Utah state aeronautics director. The contestants were selected se-lected at the Valentine Assembly held at DHS last Wednesday.
