Show ssion A farewell testimonial for Elder Paul B. Lovell will be held Sunday, October 29, at 7:30 p.m. in the Delta Del-ta Third Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Elder Lovell is called to serve in the Southern States LDS Mission. He enters the mission home Ln Salt Lake City Nov. 6 for his training train-ing period. A graduate of Delta High School ELDER PAUL B. LOVELL and Delta LDS Seminary, Elder Lovell later attended College of Southern Utah two quarters. Recently Re-cently he has been employed by Quin Shepherd, at Delta. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Lovell, of Delta. His brother, Elder Douglas Lovell has served for the past thirteen months in the Brazilian Mission. A cordial invitation to attend the program is extended to ward members, mem-bers, friends and relatives. Miss Shipley enters the mission home in Salt Lake City November 6 for the training period before her departure. She is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lee H. Shipley, formerly of Lynn-dyl, Lynn-dyl, and now of Mapleton, Utah. She was graduated from Delta High School and has since been employed by the Mountain States lei. & Tel. He enters the mission home in Salt Lake City Monday, Nov. 6, for a period of training prior to his departure. He is a son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Jeffery of Delta. He is a graduate of Delta Seminary, and was graduated grad-uated from Delta High School, where he was prominent in music and wrestling. During the past year he attended Salt Lake Trade and Technical Institute. In-stitute. This summer he has been working at the Farmer's Supply as a mechanic. Farewell Party Given nt Church For Mrs. Walters A party was given by the Ladies Circle of the Delta Community Presbyterian Church, Thursday evening, October 19, for Mrs. Nor ma Walters. Mrs. Walters is leav ing Delta to make her home in Salt Lake City with her son Billy. A very entertaining evening wxisj had by those present. First of all congratulations to Delta's football team. That was a Red Letter Day for all. We should declare it a holiday, agree? We arrived home just minutes before my twin sister came flying through the door, which made the day a double thrill. The only regret re-gret is their stay is about over. They live in Merced, Calif. I do hope uncle Elmer has some luck today. They have really deer hunted hunt-ed and tomorrow they must leave for home. Mr. Wilford McClellan arrived Sunday afternoon. So we've had a family reunion. Sure hated to put sis, Zola Lambright back in the hospital while all the excitement was still on. But she is doing fine and will be home soon, we hope, Sunday evening we went to Sacrament Sac-rament meeting. Mr. Ray Western furnished the program. I'm sure everyone enjoyed it. Donald West em and sister, Mrs. Phil (Janet) MRS. MEL CHURCH Deer season saw the town of Sutherland with a large female population. Where were the males? Gone to the hills, of course. Not all the women stayed home. Some families fa-milies went. Other men took their wives along. Many college students joined their fathers for the hunt. All in all this was the opening of the 1961 Deer Hunt. Grace and Vern Fowles had Robert Rob-ert and Dirk Fowles home, along with Gus. They traveled over to Richfield area to hunt deer. Mrs. Gwen Chappell visited with her parents Mr. and Mrs. El Fowles. She reported that she and her husband hus-band had just moved into a new home at Kaysville. Mr. and Mrs. Fawn Sampson and family were here for the deer hunt at the home of El Fowles. Frank Fowles came from Salt Lake, where he is attending a tech school to join the rest of the fanf- iy. Mr. and Mrs. Ward Stanworth and family were home over the weekend with the Bert Sanfords. Keith Sanford frtim Salt Lake was here too; Bert, Keith and Ward were in the hills while Janet enjoyed enjoy-ed a visit with her mother. Roger and Emma Walker took their family and camped at Bowens Canyon. Fenell and Hazel Walker joined them. Bill and John Walker came from Murray and camped and hunted also. Mr. Phillip Moody was home for the weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Moody. The LaVar Owens had Geniel home from Logan and Mr. and Mrs. Elwin Wright from Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Richard May and family of Fredonia, Ariz., where Richard is teaching school, were visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Morgan May. Pamela Robison of Logan visited with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Robison over the weekend. Paige Bassett was also home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bud Bassett. She is attending USU. Coming from the CSU for the weekend were Grant Bennett, David Da-vid Anderson, Jerry Bennett and Jay May. Mr. and Mrs. Gail Skidmore were home for the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Evan Skid-more. Skid-more. The Heber Roses had as guests for the week their children, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hepworth of Cedar City and Michael from CSU. Mrs. Lawrence Abbott had the joy of having four sisters visit her on Friday. Mrs. Martha Sorenson, Mrs. Leah Christensen, Mrs. Artemisia Arte-misia Thornton of Provo and Mrs. Ida Christensen of Delta, were here to see Josephine. Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Juhns, a grandson to Lawrence Abbott, were visitors at the home of their grandparents grand-parents last week. The Delta Third Ward Primary are having their Halloween party next Monday, Oct. 30 at 6 p.m. and wish to extend an invitation to all the ward members to come. Miss Luana Anderson was home for the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Anderson. The literature lesson was given by Dora Rose at Relief Society. Roma Ekins was a stake board visitor. Lenore Bunker and Elaine Peterson were voted in as members. mem-bers. Sacrament meeting was under the direction of Ken Porter. The meeting was given by the ward teacher supervisors, with Maxine Moody, Amon Johnson and Doyle Steele as speakers. The Top-Pilots, under the direction direc-tion of their teacher Betty Johnson John-son gave a program for their parents par-ents Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Miller (I-vone) (I-vone) and two children of Orem were visitors at the Ivo Ogdens on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Woodall and family of Kearns visited with Mr. and Mrs. Ivo Ogden on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs Reid Tippetts received re-ceived word from their brother, Mr. and Mrs. Perry Tippetts, who are residents of Napa, Calif., that their oldest son, Jim, had received a mission call to the West German Mission. Miss Jill Tippetts and Mrs. Elizabeth Eliza-beth Tippett3 attended the farewell fare-well testimonial for Jim Tippetts at the mission home in Salt Lake. The Sutherland Ward Relief Society So-ciety Bazaar will be held Nov. 9, Everyone is asked to keep that date in mind. Mrs. Annalee Church spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Johnson while Gary hunted deer. Mr. Theron Johnson of Beaver where he teaches school, was home for the deer hunt. Mrs. Arva Witbech and daughter was here for the weekend with a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Johnson. The Cub Scout Pack has been reorganized at Sutherland with Gene Walker as cubmaster, Thur-mon Thur-mon Moody as Institutional Representative. Repre-sentative. Gene Owens, Robert Gark and Ray Hoelzle as the cub scout committee. There are 32 boys enrolled at the present time with Emma Walker and Carmilla Hoelzle Trula Abbott, Delia Johnson, Marilyn Mari-lyn Church and Sharon Clark acting as Den Mothers. Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Munster were in Salt Lake last week. On Thursday night, Phyllis Munster Mun-ster went to Eureka to visit the Rebekahs. Sat-urday. Vera Stevens connected with a nice 5-point buck early. All th; rest got their deer during the day, all but grandpa and grandma Christensen. They're too old this year to climb the mountains. Later Jim and lone Christensen joined in the family gathering. Clead Lovell and family from Salt Lake spent several days with Mr. and Mrs. Deon Gillen. Clead hunted deer in Oak City with his brother, Ray Lovell. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Ross, Mrs. Ho ward Jensen and son, Mrs. Sarah McCullough, Mrs. May Taylor and Nancy Hyder, of California. Mr. Lyle Morgan is in the Fill more Hospital very ill. His wife sends her love to all the people of west Millard and Is happy to see anyone from here. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Callister of Hyrum, Utah, have a new baby boy, born Oct. 22. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Theobald visited in Delta Monday. West Desert ROUNDUP The Callao School children have been invited to Ibapah School on October 31st for their Halloween party. The deer hunters have taken to over our West Desert Mountains. Irl Timm has had success in drilling drill-ing him a well. We hope he has good luck with it in the future. The farmers have been bringing in their cattle and they are all in pretty good shape. , Shirley and Dan Roberts went car hunting, while everyone else was out on the first day of the big deer hunt. Gloria Russell and daughter spent the weekend with her mother moth-er and father, Don and Ula Day, while her husband went hunting. Ula has been ill for the past week. Earl Stanworth and his gang of hunters went hunting over by Fish Lake. Leona Anderson had word her dad, Mr. Whiting, had a heart attack at-tack and is in the hospital. Shirley Skeem reports her dad, Ray Owens, is feeling much better and is up and around after his stay in the Delta Hospital. We hope he continues to improve. Eva and Mark Abbott of American Ameri-can Fork were home to visit Mrs. Ethel Stanworth. Lamoine Bond and sons, David and Kenneth, and Voy Stewart, of Salt Lake, visited and hunted with Carol Rose and David Nichols. Nadean Willoughby, from Holden, spent Sunday with Jack and Lou-enza Lou-enza Willoughby. Ralph Skeem claims he gets his deer every year within 200 feet of the spot where he parks every year. He says he gets up early to get that spot, though. We counted 24 deer hung up in trees, which isn't very many for the amount of miles traveled. Debra Gillen was surprised with a party Monday night after Primary. Pri-mary. Her birthday was Oct. 23. Out of town visitors that were here for the funeral last week for Vivian Kelly included family members. mem-bers. Their daughter Margaret also spent a few days with them. Ethel M. Stanworth fell and sprained her ankle Monday and is now on crutches. Carl Stanworth shot a deer and to his surprise he found he had shot two deer with one shot. Their bunch filled up the first morning.
