After remaining aloft over Salt Lake all night, fliers plan to leave Utah early on April 9. Food and fuel contacts are scheduled sched-uled at Provo and Salt Lake. Flight is being made to focus attention on nationwide cancer drive, current during April, and to attempt to break present endurance record. Flight is being financed without cost to ACS. MRS. MARY JOHNSON Mrs. Nathanj LaRue went to Salt Lake City and her husband was able to leave the hospital and come home. Mrs. Jean Tolbert and children came up from Yermo, California and spent the week with Mrs. Mina Overson and in Delta with Mrs. Frances Tolbert. The school children child-ren were having spring vacation. They left Friday to return home. Ivy J. Nielson returned to Salt Lake City after spending the week home with the Irving Nielsons. Mr. and Mrs. Frances Burnham and three little sons drove down from Idaho Falls Wednesday. They visited here with sisters, Mrs. Mina Overson and Mrs. Mary Johnsou before going on to Sutherland. Mrs. Burnham is visiting for two weeks but Mr. Burnham returned home Thursday. Mrs. Burnham is with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Johnson. Mrs. Hazel Williams, Mar-gene Mar-gene Willie and Fred McEven from Los Angeles visited here also Tuesday. Tues-day. Miss Gladys Banks drove down from Salt Lake City Wednesday, but returned to the city Friday on account of the death of Miss Bee Roberts. She went to care- for the family of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Banks while they attended funeral services ser-vices in Cedar City and burial in Sutherland of Miss Roberts. The Banks visited here Sunday on their return to Salt Lake City. Mrs. Eunice Nielson, Mrs. Donna Haycock and daughter spent the day Wednesday in Sutherland visiting vis-iting Mrs. Hazel Walker. Saturday evening, Elder Dee Nielson Niel-son took his Sunday school class to Delta for the show. Joe drove another car assisting his brother take the group of students. They enjoyed the show very much. Mrs. Kate Hayes was here from Salt Lake through the week at the Dean Eatough home. Thursday a little daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Eatough at the Delta Hospital Hospit-al and Grandmother, Hayes took care of Shanna an dKathy who are waiting to welcome their mother and baby sister home. Mrs. Cora Carrington drove to Salt Lake City a few days visiting relatives there and about. Miss LaRaae Shipley was in Provo Pro-vo last week with Mrs. Joyce Fin-linson. Fin-linson. Paul has discontinued school to begin the farm work on Fool Creek. Mr. and Mrs. Rendell Durrant of Tooele visited Mrs. Mina Overson Tuesday. The Durrants and the Bill Oversons received word of a new granddaughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Dean Durrant n San Francisco Friday. Fri-day. They have one other daughter, Catherine. Mrs. Glenna Vest visited in Provo with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kirt Roper Monday. Mrs. Norine Shipley and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Finlinson visited Mrs. Georgia Whatcott and family on her birthday hi Fillmore Monday. Walter Potts was taken to the hospital in Salt Lake City Thursday Thurs-day for treatment. Miss Margaret Bowers came down from Salt Lake City anc spent the week as a guest of Miss Janet iNiel-son. iNiel-son. Bdb Nielson, drove to Ogden and brought home son, Glenn for the Easter weekend. Mrs. Mina Overson, Mr. and Mrs. Lile Johnson and Rose were present pre-sent for the big family dinner honoring Peter Johnson on his birthday bir-thday Friday evening at the Lester Johnson home i nSutherland. Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Dutson and family drove to Salt Lake Friday evening and spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. John Dutson and family and other relatives. They returned home Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Clead Nielson attended at-tended the wedding reception in Fillmore Saturday evening for Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Anderson. Miss Denese Greathouse was down from the Capitol City over the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Margie Greathouse and family. Mr. and Mrs. Alan Nielson were home over the weekend. A group from the High Priests Quorum gave the propram in church Sunday evening. Brother Grant Snow was in charge. Clair Garlner and Ray Western were the speakers a quartette, Evan Gardner, Gard-ner, LaVar Owens, Dr. Bird and Eldon Sorenson sang two numbers which were enjoyed very much. Mr. and Mrs. Clead Nielson, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Greathouse, Mr. and Mrs. Lile Johnson, Bishop and Mrs. Reed Nielson and Mrs. Margie Greathouse made a surprise visit at the Spencer Nielson home Friday Fri-day evening to honor Spencer on his birthday. The evening was enjoyed en-joyed very much viewing the pictures pic-tures taken in Hawaii and also the lovely refreshments. Many happy returns Spence. I. am indeed grateful for what the day stands for. The resurrection we all will receive re-ceive (good or bad) as a gift of the Savior of the world and today I am truely grateful for the privilege pri-vilege of living and for the promise pro-mise of eternal life "if we live worthy". Just as spring promises another harvest if we plant and care for our crops. I hope you see what I mean. I'm not good at expressing ex-pressing it, but I truely feel It this Easter morn, 1959. Floyd and Cleone Tolbert were hosts Wednesday evening to all the Tolbert family at their home. A lovely luncheon was served and the evening was spent viewing pictures and visiting. Grandmother Frances Tolbert and Dale and family fam-ily of Yermo California, and the Johnnie Hesselguesser family of Ely, Nevada were guests of honor. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Bliss and son and girt friend went Eastering out to Antelope Springs with Clark and Reva Bliss and the Boyd Sche-na Sche-na and Ray Hoelzle families went to Vernon Utah to spend Easter with the Danny Atherly family. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Young are happy hap-py parents of a bouncing baby boy born one day this week. Congratulations Con-gratulations from us to you Bev erly and Joe. The Max Holbrooks are in their new home and were visited Easter by Blanches mother and husband. Sherman and Gladys Tolbert and family took an Easter trip Saturday Satur-day out to fish springs. The Ladd Fullmer family from N'aturita, Colorado have spent the weekend here with the John Full-fer Full-fer and Mrs. Ethel Waters in Delta, returning home Sunday. Also Dave and Kathleen Poulsen came back from Moab to get their children who had spent a week with their grandparents the Arch Poulsens in Sugarville. We all drove to the C. C. C. camp site in Jericho and met the Frank Tennants of Tooele We enjoyed an Easter picnic with weiners, marshmellows, egg rolling, and all. The Jay Fullmer family was with us making a total of 26 present. Some of the group visited vis-ited Paul Bunyons Woodpile about 4 miles north-east from tthere. It's quite a bad road for touring cars. DORA ROSE Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Jones and family spent the Easter holiday with their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Erickson at Smithfield, Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Moody made a trip to Salt Lake Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Wilson and family visited with their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Golden Erickson, Rhea and Ray. Mr. Dean Mackleprang from Ogden, Og-den, spent his spring vacation with his folks, Mr. and Mrs. Clemont Bennett, Grant and Raylynn. It seems that Ogden schools had their spring vacation a little ahead of the Delta schools, and the schools of southern Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Orlan Ogden and children visited with Mr. and Mrs. Norman Erickson, and Mrs. Delilah Ogden and Loraine. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth May and children were visitors of their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Bert Johnson and family, and Mr. and Mrs. Morgan May and family, over the Easter holiday. Mr. Hal Robison from CSU, spent the weekend with his folks, Mr. and Mrs. Ben Robison and family Mr. Dale Johnson was a visitor at Sutherland with his folks, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Webb attended at-tended the funeral services of Mrs. Webb's aunt, In southern Utah, last week. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Fowles were called to Salt Lake Friday, because of the illness of Mr. Fowles' mother. moth-er. The report of her condition was not determined at the time of this report. Mr. and Mrs. Evan Skidmore visited vis-ited In Salt Lake to honor the birthday birth-day of their daughter, Nancy. Nancy Nan-cy is working at the drug store and attending a beauty school In Salt Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Fowles, who have been attending the CSU at Cedar City, have moved tack to Sutherland. Welcome back, folks. Miss Geniel Johnson, who is attending at-tending the Y, spent Easter with her folks, the Bert Johnson's. Bishop and Mrs. Max Johnson attended the Sweatheart F. F. A. Banquet, held in Salt Lake, Friday, Fri-day, and Elwin had the privilege of presenting to his father the Honorary Farmer of Utah award, which came as a surprise to Bishop Johnson. Word was received here of the death of Mr. Moroni Johansen, an uncle to Mrs. Vera Barney, Mr. Bert Jensen and Mrs. Ruth Steele. He was a brother to the late Mr. Kimbal Johansen, and to Bert Jensen's Jen-sen's mother. He lived at one time on the Kimbal Johansen farm and at the Big Delta Ranch, of which it was known at that time. Funeral Funer-al services will be held Thursday, and most of the relatives from this area are expecting to attend. Mr. Edward Jensen, Miss OlRoyd, and Mrs. Ruby Poulson attended a dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Jensen on Thursday. Mrs. Poulson and Mr. Jensen are sister and brother of Mr. Charles Jensen. Mr. Jensen is from Spring City, Miss OlRoyd resides at Fountain Foun-tain Green, and Mrs. Poulson Is from Mt. Pleasant. Also in attendance attend-ance to the dinner were Mr. Bert Jensen and Mrs. Ruth Steele. Mr. advise. The Lloyd Tolbert family went Eastering out West with the Dool-ins Dool-ins from Delta. Little Miss Doolin has spent the week with the Tol-berts Tol-berts while their parents were In California. Edward Jensen has been called to serve a mission for the LDS church and will leave in the near future. Mrs. Marion Woolsey has tieen chosen as President of the Escal-ante Escal-ante Valley Parents-Teachers Association. As-sociation. (Mrs. Woolsey Is the former for-mer Miss DeLapp of Sutherland). Sho acted as Secretary of the New Castle Association last year. The infant son of Mr. and Mrs. John DeLapp, and the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard May, received their names Sunday. They were blessed by their fathers, fath-ers, and were given the names, Robert Bruce DeLapp, and Sharon was the name given the little May baby. Mr. and Mrs. J. Avery Bishop Bish-op were in attendance for the blessing, and Mr. Bishop assisted in the affair. We are all very happy hap-py for the recovery of Ora Mae May. Ronald Mortensen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Mortensen, was sustained as a teacher Sunday. Congratulations to Robert Jackson Jack-son and Ruth Johnson for their recent re-cent engagement and future plans for marriage. All friends and neighbors of this area were saddened toy the passing pass-ing of one of their beloved friends. Miss Bee Roberts. She will long be remembered by her outstanding qualities of character, by her willingness will-ingness to serve, by her radient personality, and by her ever progressive pro-gressive status. She taught many of the young people in this area and was loved ty each one. She will be as a guiding light to the remaining members of her family, and to all who knew her. Mr. Van Bishop and Mrs. Zerma Schlappi were stake Sunday School visitors at the Sutherland Ward, Easter Sunday. The Sunday School did not have class work but held an Easter program, which consisted of numbers in'memorium of "The Resurection of Christ," and the promises made for each of us. Frank Lyman, Reid Tippetts, Van Bishop, Mary Lyman, Bishop Johnson John-son and Virginia Lyman, all talked on the "Resurection." Laura Moody played a violin solo, "It was for Me." Thurmon Moody sang a solo. LaVar Owens and Dora Rose sang a duet, and there was a d6uble trio consisting of Nella Jackson, Virginia Johnson, Elaine Turner, Delia Johnson, Rae Petersen, and Dora Rose, with Hazel Walker as accompanist. Eva Dean Moody accompanied ac-companied Laura and Thurmon. Ben Robison was also a speaker, with Dennis Johnson presenting ths scripture reading. Many of the people of this area attended the funeral services at Cedar City for Bee Roberts, then attended the graveside services at Sutherland. Her sisters, Lavelle, Elva, Ivie, and Leah, were all In attendance at both places; also, her brother, Brose and other reli-tives. reli-tives. Congratulations to Beverly Ann and K. C. Vinyard for their new little baby which came to them March 24. They are giving it the name of Kit Carson III. The Relief Society Annual party was a huge success, with a good program and turkey dinner. Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Jones returned Millard County Chronicle Thursday, April 2, 1959 to their home Saturday night, after 7,503 Read It la The CHRONICLE staying a winter in Mesa, Arizona, working in the Mesa Temple. While they were there they visited wit1 Mr. and Mrs. Sam Taylor and their family. The Briant Larsons visited also, with the Taylors and with the Roy Smiths at Tempe. Mr. and Mrs. Taylor have just moved into their new home. Mr. Cal Jones is now staying in California with his daughter, and is working in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Mr. Rulon Anderson left Saturday Satur-day for a week's stay in Salt Lake, where he will attend a furnaco school for Lennox dealers. Mr. and Mrs. Rowell Leavitt and family, Salt Lake, were in Delta Thursday, March 26, visiting their parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Leavitt, and Mr. and Mrs. Meltire Workman.
