New Service Promises Kinq Sixe Steaks! r .4 Two beef bulls representative of the performance and progeny tested sires now being offered by American Breeders Service for artificial breeding through the miracle of frozen semen. An important "break-through" in beef herd Improvement has been announced fcy American Breeders Service, largest artificial breeding service in the Western Hemisphere. By making artificial artifi-cial breeding practical for use in beef cattle herds, ABS has opened the gate for the average herd to be bred to the best beef bulls in the country. Breeds available are Angus, Brahman, Charolais, Hereford, Polled Hereford, Santa Gertrudis and Shorthorn. In dairy herds, artificial insemination in-semination to top bulls, successfully success-fully and increasingly used for over 18 years, has proved it can add millions of dollars to dairy farmers income by increasing in-creasing production and upgrading up-grading herds. Now, this method meth-od of improving both quality and income is open to beef producers for the first time. Fast Kate-of-Gain Tests prove that the best third of beef cattle gain IK-times IK-times faster than the belt out third and use less feed pel pound gain of meat. Fast gains are generally more economical gains. ABS in bull selection has required that the bull himself, and also a group of his offspring, off-spring, or progeny (3 or more), have a superior rate-o'-gain compared to otlic ar.ir.'.nls in the sr:ne test. Rate-of-f;ain Is tha riio-t im portant factor of economic value in performance and progeny pro-geny testing. Testing Progeny In the broad sense, a performance per-formance and progeny tested beef bull is also compared with other animals in the same test in respect to other factors of economic importance such as birth weight, weaning weight, conformation, feed efficiency and carcass evaluation. Progeny Pro-geny testing in the selection of bef bulls is new and ever increasing in-creasing in importance. The ABS goal is to use all comparisons compar-isons available. According to calculations made by American Breeders Service, headquartered in Chicago, Chi-cago, cattlemen can expect to realize as much additional income in-come from artificial breeding as have dairymen, provided tl.fy use Fcrfoi mance and Fro-jreny Fro-jreny Tested S rc.-, and,. when they do, the consumers can expect ex-pect better' beef "and mo:e rj 1- ( TO I Snap-A-Part Forms WW i Registers and Register Forms on Continuous Forms siriss Solesbooks U J fat si hi fat Xj Manifold Booh ' 1 . la nn vrp Guest Checks fli 190 e MILLARD COUNTY CHRONICLE SHOP AT THE DELMART AND SAVE !
