Criddle, STATE ENGINEER Published in Millard County Chronicle, Chron-icle, Delta, Utah, from October 2 to October 16, 1958. through Saturday, the 11th. To some of our readers it may seem repetitious for the Chronicle to call the attention of citizens of West Millard each year to this observance.. ob-servance.. But fire itself, and the death, suffering and damage it can bring, is repetitious. Day after day it claims its toll some 1400 home fires, 135 fires in stores, 100 factory fac-tory fires, 11 school fires and 119 barn fires on the average each day of the year. Puis 31 who lose their lives and hundreds who suffer burns of varying vary-ing degrees of severity. Fire levies Its toll repetitiously during the year, but only once a year during Fire Prevention Week are people generally alerted to the fire peril and urged to take those steps which can reduce the unbroken un-broken parade of fire losses.. Maintenance of a good, well-equipped well-equipped and well-trained fire department de-partment is of prime importance. Officials and people of West Millard should give some thought to the adequacy of fire protection services ser-vices here. But the greatest individual in-dividual fire safety contribution anyone can make this week is to check personally on the fire safety of his own home, farm or place of business. And talking about repetition that's a check worth repeating a number of times during the year.
