Ash- City; Amanda Johnson, Midvale. As a birthday gift from her son, Mrs. Jane M. Ashby and her four sisters, all pictured above, were taken on an expense paid trip to Phoenix, Arizona, where the donors, Mrs. Ashby's son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Orran Ashby, saw that they were royally entertained. en-tertained. Leaving Utah March 8, they traveled in cars driven by Mrs. Ashby's son and daughter, Carl i Ashby, Delta, and Emily A. Wade of Fillmore. A stop at Cedar City to see a nephew, Anthony Stephenson Steph-enson and family, and another at St. George to see a son Maiben Ashby and family, broke the trip to Las Vegas. In the fabulous Nevada city they were guests of a granddaughter granddaugh-ter of Mrs. Ashby's Carmen Stewart, Stew-art, and family. Dinner and Show at the "Sands" all made a real Ex citing evening for the ladies. The next day took them to Hoover Dam and thence to Phoenix, Phoen-ix, where they arrived in time for church. Mrs. Ashby and her party par-ty were greeted by many friends in that ward and by neighborhood people. After services, an elaborate elabor-ate cake was delivered to the Ashby Ash-by home, bearing the message, "Welcome to Phoenix". The next day was spent touring through orange groves, beautiful homes, Wrigley Gum Castle, Ca-melback Ca-melback mountain and up to Scotsdale. They attended a stake program that night, the script for which was written by Mrs. Orran Ashby. The next afternoon a buffet birthday dinner for Emily A. Wade and a grand niece from Mesa was attended by relatives from that area. That evening, all went to a school play in which Margaret Ashby had the leading role. A book review, some fine shows, and an open house took up other days. A visit in Mesa with a sister-in-law, Mrs. John Bond and family, was an enjoyable occasion. occas-ion. A tour of some of the beautiful beau-tiful flower gardens with their early blooms was also a highlight. Carl and Emily returned home after the first few days, leaving the ladies for more visiting and touring. Ten days after they left home ABRAHAM Mrs. AFTON FULLMER After today we change our calendar cal-endar to April; March Is going out like the proverbial lion. Snow, and still snowing. Not very spring-like yet. Our Relief Society had their annual an-nual party a little late, but, very nice. We had Smorgasbord supper, and played games, such as Chinese checkers after. Sisters Thora Petersen Pet-ersen and Iva Allred were our visitors. vis-itors. We had a nice crowd out. Mrs. Gladys Talbert and daughters, daugh-ters, Dorothy and Wanda, spent Saturday in Provo, shopping and visiting with relatives. Mrs. Erma Petersen took son, Warren to Salt Lake for a checkup, check-up, Tuesday. He is getting along 'fine; still has a cast on, but gets around on crutches. Mr. Lee Talbot and Earl Petersen Peter-sen are working (carpenter work) in Spring Valley, near Ely, Nev. Eugene Young .and Cleve Taylor are at present doing county road work in Garrison, Utah. Dick Talbot, David Young and Almon Fullmer, Jr., are taking the Driver Training class after school, Mist Juven Adam, employed in Salt Lake City, spent the weekend week-end in Delta visiting (her mother, Mds. Martha Adams. in order to step up their drivers' license. We have a number of flu eases around. None severe, but some children are out of school. The Boyd Schena's children have been quite sick, also Phil Holbrook and Dorothy Talbert and Clark Bliss. Carl Stoneking and girlfriend. Ferrol of Salt Lake City, were at the Walter Stoneking home Sunday. Sun-day. They spent the day horseback horse-back riding and vlsting, then returned re-turned to Salt Lake Sunday night. Clark Talbert made a trip to Salt Lake to the dentist, Friday. He now has his braces off and i looks real handsome. I Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Bliss, from Payson, spent the day with Clark fend Reva Bliss Saturday. they boarded a big plane at 8:30 in the morning, arriving in Salt Lake just two and a half hours later. Mr. Warner was recently released from the hospital hos-pital where he had been recovering recover-ing from injuries received in a car accident before Christmas. He is now much improved. Mr. and Mrs. Orran Ashby spent the weekend in Delta, and Saturday Satur-day visited in Provo with their son, Larry, attending BYU. They returned Monday to their home in Phoenix, Arizona. Mr. ani Mrs. Ralph Creed, daughter daugh-ter Marie and son Howard, of Provo, Pro-vo, visited In Delta Saturday and Sunday with friends and former neighbors. They were guests of Mr. and Mrs. Norman Gardner. Mrs. Reliance Wood, and daughter, daugh-ter, Raelene Wood, of Salt Lake City, are spending the week in Mesa, Arizona, visiting Mrs. Wood's father, Joseph H. Jones. Mrs. Frances Fran-ces Bohn made the trip with them, and Is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Isabelle Taylor, and family.
