Show Battle and . Jlfattietide By INEZ RIDING- Now that Dr. Stains, Aunt Geneva, Gen-eva, and I all agree that I'm just a real clever person (!), I'll proceed pro-ceed with this week's Sense and mostly. A very heavy fjal rushed into Glen Gardner's Photo Shop and exclaimed, "Oh, Dr. Lyman, tell me what's wrong with me?" Glen looked her over very carefully and replied, "Your make-up is all wrong, your hair is all wrong, you re much too fat, besides, I'm Glen Your Photo Friend, Dr. Lyman Ly-man is across town." - I like Athena. She hands me a questionable maurder mystery book, with this remark, "Part of your duties here at the Chronicle will be to review books. Now get busy." - Some more nice things about Delta that I had forgotten: These wide, wide streets, the genuine friendliness of its citizens, and the feeling you get when you go to church. (You know that you have been to church, and you like it.) - . It's a good thing that I'm clever, or I'd never get four pages typed, for this here space in this here newspaper! - If you read this column last week, then you must know that I was dreaming of a School Page for this paper. Well, dear reader, you must .also, know that that Is one dream that materialized in the same issue. Eob (I'm his better bet-ter half, and he said it first) and I are so very happy with that PAGE, and we do want to express our thanks to our teachers for helping help-ing us to make it possible. Please watch that page, for it will be most Interesting to watch develop. I'm very sincere in saying that, too. Rodeo: Live steaks in action! Intent: What a fisherman goes Into, when It begins to rain. Nylon hose: Fastest runners In the world! Activity: What is sometimes mistaken mis-taken for achievement! (Please don't read this unless you're in sunny Florida and hap pen to be named Mama Pyland). Dear Mama, I've been cutting up good sheets again, not for play-suits play-suits or dresses, but for tablecloths. table-cloths. Take two yards of this checked material that can be bought in the Delmart, tear a sheet (preferably a clean one) into two equal parts. Then measure the correct length and sew these pieces to the checked material that can be bought at the Delmart, put nice straight hems in the ends of the sheets and the checked material that can be bought at the Del-mart, Del-mart, and you have a lovely tablecloth. table-cloth. Use for two meals for four children and you have it to wash. Oh, say, I'm really getting carried car-ried away, aren't I? Sorry, that's all the time we have this week for sewing lessons. More next week. iHow many Scotchmen do. we have in Delta or the surrounding territory? It'll be so easy to save money by coming in and taking out your subscription, or renewing your old one before this month is ended. AND it is moving right along, you know, The first time I see one, Dick Morrison, I'm going to rush and gush, "Mr. Morrison, don't you think it's about time you picked up your pen and paper and re-join our happy ranks?" Seriously, Mr. Morrison, why not? There are two ladies in Delta that have apparently found the Fountain of Youth. Poor Ponce de Leon, he went In the wrong direction. di-rection. I'm positive that Phyllis (Davis) and Mary (Je'ffery) know just the exact location of said fountain! I must be getting sleepy, all I can think of Is something to do with sheets! Just thought someone might be interested in knowing that I'm not only the president of the Inez Society, I'm ,also, a genuine genu-ine full-fledged slip-sheeter. To all ex-servicemen: that has nothing at all in common with short-sheeting. (Practice of which helped to win all wars)'. And to fully appreciate the meaning of the term, you'd have to see a demonstration when you stop In the Chronicle to pay your subscription, sub-scription, ask for Athena or Wanda Wan-da (if she is there) to give a demonstration. dem-onstration. They're both old slip-sheeters, slip-sheeters, from 'way back! A good late snack: Some Quality Qual-ity Market cold, baked fish, and D. Stevens bread, butter, and milk. Can't beat it, brother, can't beat it What I lack in writing ability, I make up in enthusiasm. See you, later (That almost came out as See you later, Alligator). That would be just ducky, wouldn't it?) P.S. If you only have time to read part of the paper, skip this little ditty and make it the ads, huh? LYNNDYL MRS. MARY JOHNSON WE PA . . . Teachers1 Salary In Utah Above National Average According to National Education Educa-tion Association estimates, the average salary of classroom teachers teach-ers in Utah this year Is slightly higher than the average for the Mountain States and the Nation. This fact was reported by Utah Socio! Security Representative To Be Here Jan. 39 "A year ago the Social Security Administration first began paying benefits to disabled children over the age of 18," Mr. Kesler T. Powell, Pow-ell, manager of the Provo district social security office said today, "While the number of applications applica-tions filed on behalf of disabled children is small compared to the number filed on behalf of children under 18, the benefits payable to disabled children will In most cases cas-es provide a permanent measure of security since they will usually continue as long as the child lives. Benefits to children under 18 who are not disabled," Mr. Powell pointed out, "end when the child becomes 18." An application for this type of benefit can be retroactively effective ef-fective for one year, according to Mr. Powell. Those disabled children child-ren who could have qualified for benefits for the month of January 1957 will lose one or more monthly benefits payments unless an application ap-plication is filed on their behalf not later than January 31, 1958. These benefits are payable to children of retired workers receiving receiv-ing social security benefits and those of deceased workers who were insured under social security at the time of death. The child must be totally and permanently disabled from a condition which resulted in disability before the age of! 18, and must have been dependent de-pendent on the parent, stepparent steppar-ent or adopting parent.
