We are all wishing him a speedy recovery. Paul Ludwig left July 1 for Camp Philmont, New Mexico, where he is with the Explorers until the 20th. He will probably have a lot of experiences to tell us when he gets back. Mf. and Mrs. Russell Styler, Mrs. Ruby Skeem and Mr, and Mrs. Ed win Skeem attended the funeral services for Arvin Olsen in Orem last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kent and sons Arthur and Jack from Salt Lake City came to Oasis Friday and picked up their daughter, Eathel Skeem, and went on to Ka-narra, Ka-narra, where they visited relatives. Mrs. Kent stayed to visit longer with her sister, and the rest of the party returned to Oasis Saturday evening. Sunday morning Mr. Kent and the boys went on back to Salt Lake. Mrs. Lucille (Styler) Farr and daughter, Lee Ann, and little son, Lorrl Kim, drove up from Phoenix, Ariz., arrlvlne here last Tuesday They will visit a month with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vai Styler and other members ot the family Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Talbot and 5 children from Torrence, Calif. called on their sister and brother Fontella and Edwin Skeem, last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Skeem and son, Reed, attended the Arthur J. Talbot family reunion, which was held in Payson Park last Saturday- Mr. Emmanuel Stanworth from San Fernando Valley, Calif., visited his brothers. Alfred. George and Ted, and their families, last week Mr. and Mrs. Clead Lovell and children, Olea and Mark, from Salt Lake, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Deon Gillen, Saturday evening. Olea stayed all night and attended Sunday School with her little cou sin Debra. . Miss Charlyn Moody who has been visiting her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kelly, the past week and a half, is returning to her home in Las Vegas, Tuesday. Sunday In fast meeting the little daughter of Derrol and Inez Ann Cropper, was blessed and given the name of Kelly Ann, fcy her father. Her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hon Cropper from Hinckley were present along with the members of the Kelly family for the occasion. Mrs. Ivone Miller visited with her folks, Mr. and Mrs. Ivo Ogden. The Ogdens had with them over the weekend two of Zelda's nephews, nep-hews, one from Grand Junction, Colorado, and the other from Seattle, Se-attle, Washington. Rex Thornton is staying with his mother and Mae. Mrs. Thornton Thorn-ton and Mae just returned from Salt Lake where they visited with Max and his family. ' JuLene and her husband are visiting visi-ting with their folks, Mrs. Zola Bunker and Bonnie. JuLene has been living in Puerto Rico for the past two or three years, while her husband, Lt. A. J. Cottle, was there with the U. S. Air Force. Mrs. Merril Neilson visited in Sutherland with the Cutler Henries. The grandparents have been looking look-ing after the little boy while Kay has been in the hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Brian Renstrom and baby were visitors in Sutherland with their sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Christensen and family. Misses Jean and Loraine Ogden spent last week with their brother Harold, and his family, at Kearns. Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Rollins and their two children spent the 4th of July holiday with Mrs. Rollins parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Avon Barney. Mr. and Mrs. Orland Ogden and baby, returned from California where Or' and been employed. Mr. and Mrs. Clair Gardner visited visit-ed with their folks, Mr. and Mrs. Avon Barney, over the holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Herald Petersen and family and Bishop and Mrs. Clif-ferd Clif-ferd Petersen made a trip to Lehman Leh-man Cave last week where they met Mr. and Mrs. John Hessele-gesser Hessele-gesser and family for a little family fam-ily get to-gether. The Hesselegess-ers Hesselegess-ers live In Nevada. Mrs. Henderson is visiting In Sutherland with her children Mr. and Mrs. Sherman Jones and family. fam-ily. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Walker and daughters were visitors of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Walker last week. They left Saturday for their home in Idaho Falls. Miss Betty Bennett spent the weekend in Sutherland with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Bennett. Ben-nett. Mrs. Madge Christensen spent Sunday with her children, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Christensen and family. fam-ily. Tommy Christensen and Sally Helf were baptized on Sunday. The Infant son of Roger and Erma Walker was christened by his grandfather W. R. Walker and given the name of David Ray. The Aaronic Priesthood outing is scheduled for Friday. Mrs. Dee Sanford had the pleasure plea-sure of having her daughter Dorothy, Doro-thy, her husband and family, visit with her last week. Mrs. Lucile Stapley gave some very useful ideas on designing, sewing and styling clothing last Tuesday at the Sutherland chapel. Mrs. Stapley displayed articles to show different ways of finishing for ready to wear. Miss Carol Wood has been staying stay-ing in Salt Lake with relatives. Dean Mackleprang returned to be with the Clemont Bennetts. We are all very happy to see Lester Johnson out again and on the improve. Kee-p up the good work Lester. Few of us escape days of depression depres-sion and the feeling of being down and discouraged. The feeling of depression is sometimes caused by serious personal problems, sometimes some-times imaginary problems. Suppose all of these suppositions were true, we could lose nothing by living for the future, and what could we gain by giving way to dark despon dency? Despite the foolishness of men and the forces they set In motion there has and always will be a future. Always a future worth fighting for, worth living for. School presented the program. Talks were given by Bishop Law rence Cropper, Bishop Ralph Skeem Howard Roundy and Ila Stanworth. A song was sung by Bonnie Day, Carol Nichol and Janet Stanworth from Mrs. Betsy Skeem's class, and the song "The Golden Plates" was sune bv a group from Mrs. Beth Day's class. Mrs. Lorenza Willough- by accompanied both numbers. Mrs. Ila Stanworth and Mrs. Irene Stanworth accompanied Mrs. Eva Holt and Mrs. Peggy western to Salt Lake last Saturday. They had a very nice trip. In the meantime the Stanworth men, Duane and Earl and Duane's son Max. went out west to check on their cattle and broke an axle. The women folks waited until mid- ieht and finally got Grant Peter sen to go looking for their men. It was about 6 a. m. Sunday morn ing when they got home. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bishop, Mr. and Mrs. Jerold Bishop and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Bishop took off last Thurs day for a little fishing trip, returned return-ed home Saturday evening. Yes, we had fun, even caught a few fish. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Pratt left last Friday for Wendall, Idaho where they are visiting their relatives. rela-tives. Mrs. Pratfs parents, Mr. and Mrs. Stevens, are celebrating their Golden Wedding anniversary. Shipley The Fourth of July Celebration at Oak City enjoyed the usual sunrise salute at day-break, a pro gram at 10:30 a.m. At 2 p.m. races for all with prizes awarded, auer which a ball game, married vs unmarried men. In the evening a picture show finished the days activities. act-ivities. Many visitors were in Oak City to enjoy the day. Some remained re-mained in Oak City until Sunday and even Monday morning before returning to their work . Ronald Anderson and his fiance, Miss Veniece Vent from California spent the holidays in Oak City. Mr. and Mrs. Malcolm Stephen-sen Stephen-sen and little son from Salt Lake were in Oak City for the 4th. The little grandson will visit longer with his grand parents, wr. uuu Mrs. Ellis Anderson fr nrt Mrs. DeLynn Nielson vis ited a few days in Oak City. Betty Lou Lovell and Sidney Sue Nielson returned to Salt Lake with them for a visit. Mrc Pnohpi Melville and Marilyn and Dale spent the 4th week end in Oak City. F.lder Garv Roper returned nome with his folks this week. We are glad to have Gary home after his 3 years absence in Japan . Mr. and Mrs. Grant innnson, Robert Ranee and Douglas, were in Salt Lake Saturday. Their daugh ters, Sandra and Janet returned home with them to welcome Elder David Finlinson and two mission ary companions who had arrived during their visit in Salt Lake. Elder El-der Finlinson has been away for 2 years In the Southern State mission. mis-sion. Ann and Grant were happy to have all their children home for the day. Mr. and Mrs. Wilford Sheriff and son Evan spent the week end at Provo and Midvale with their daughters , Mrs. Clara Atkins and children are visiting from Phoenix, Arizona with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Finlinson this month. Miss Kay Finlinson is a visitor with Miss Marie Finlinson this week. The fast meetine Sunday had a 61 attendance. The little son of and Mrs. Mertin Lovell was blessed and named. Jackie Roper had been baptised at Delta Sun day morning and was . confirmed at this meeting. Oak Gty Ward was happy to ' aeain disnlav the stake attendance banner this month. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Roper from Milford visited in Oak City. and family spent the 4th in Oak City. Mr. Brent Lovell and his fiance LoRen Orton visited in Oak City. The funeral services for Arvin Olson had many relatives and friends fri-ends from Oak City in attendance. The sympathy of Oak City people go to the bereaved father and other members of his family. Richard and Ardella Christensen, Orpha Anderson, Velma Harvey, Wilma Wixom, were visitors from Salt Lake over the holidays. Many relatives and friends attended at-tended the services at Leamington for Mrs. Hansine Lovell. Mr. and Mrs. Leon Alldredge and little son were here from Overton for the 4th holidays Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Alldredge had his sister, Mrs. Iva Osguthorpe and children visiting on the 4th. Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Anderson had all their children and grand children home for the 4th holidays they all ate dinner in the canyon. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Olson and family are staying in Oak City while he is employed at Fillmore. Mrs. Ada Jacobson and children were in Salt Lake most of last week. Her little daughter Sheila will have surgery at the Primary Hospital about Thursday of this week.
