Show t 1957 Dairy Princess to Visit Delta BRINGS CHEESE TO DELTA Lot- ely Shirley Chugg, 1957 Utah Dairy Princess, with gifts of Utah cheese. Utah' 1957 Dairy Princess, Shirley Shir-ley Chugg, will make an official visit to Delta on Monday, October 15, as part of the state's third annual an-nual Cheese Festival. Leading a caravan that will travel tra-vel 10 days on the highways and byways of the s,:ate, Miss Chugg, and attendants Merriss Hendricks, Richmond, and Connie Burgon, Mid-vale, Mid-vale, will call upon mayors and newspaper publishers and other local leaders in 37 communities. To these people they will present gifts of Utah Swiss and cheddar cheese. While here, Miss Chugg and her party will present their gifts to Mayor Rulon A. Callister and Athena Ath-ena B. Cook, editor of the Millard County Chronicle. The same day, an area meeting of the American Dairy Association of Utah will be held in Delta at 8 p.m. Boyd Schena will be the speaker. Participating on the tour will be , Mr. Nelson, Welby W. Young, pres-, ldent of the American Dairy Association As-sociation of Utah and vice president presi-dent of the Utah Milk Fcu-dr'i m; A. J. Clifford and Warren Petersen were in Salt Lake on business Monday. A good percentage of our branch attended Stake Conference Sunday Sun-day and heard Bro. Dilworth Young and Bro. Gordon B. At Deseret Garden Club J The Deseret Garden Club met at i the church Tuesday Sept. 25, for a work meeting. We had a good number out and did the work in a short time. Members of the committee, Nora Cropper and Evan Dewsnup, were in charge of the work which consisted con-sisted of watering the flowers and planting dwarf iris. We . also discussed plans for a big treasure hunt as our next get to-got her. This will be held around October 1 and promises to be a lot of fun. Marie Jensen is reported d(ing well after having surgery on her neck. Marie is at the LDS Hospital in Salt Lake City and A-ould appreciate a note from her Cvienas and neighbors. Mr. and Mrs. Justin Smith and family returned to Delta to spend a few days here .They are living at Clearfield and Justin is teaching teach-ing at North Ogden High School. Mahe Airline Eastern Trip Mr. and Mrs. Dell Bennett, of Deseret, Des-eret, have just returned from an extended trip to the east that was sponsored by their sons, Cloyd and Randle Bennett, as a birthday present. pre-sent. This was the first trip to New York City, Washington, D. C, and other eastern cities for Mr. and Mrs. Bennett. They went from Delta to Las Vegas, Nev., by train, and were met by Cloyd, who is desk clerk at the Thunderbird, and toured the town with them. At Las Vegas they also visited their son and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Cahoon From Las Vegas, Mr. and Mrs. Bennett went by airline to San Francisco, where Randle met them, and took them to his ranch home at Geyserville for a visit with his wife and family of four children. From there they toured the San Francisco area and visited places of interest. Then they left by airline for New York City, where they spent four days, Washington, D. C, for three days, and short stops in St. Louis and Kansas City. Sixty-four hundred hun-dred miles of this trip were made in flight with TWA Super-G Constellation Con-stellation plane, with their son, Capt. Randle Bennett. The plane carried two captains, two co-pilots and three hostesses. Oct. 4, 1956 Mrs. Abbie Prestwich left Delta Monday on a trip .of several mon-!hs mon-!hs to visit her sons and daughters, daugh-ters, and plans to return next spring. She went first to Cedar City to visit Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Prestwich, and Zolet, there at CSU. From there she will go to Las Vegas, Nev., and visit Nelda, and then to Snowflake, Ariz., to visit Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Prestwich. Next visit will be at Los Angeles, with Rex and Beth Terry, and then a-cross a-cross the country to Florida, to visit A. J. and Aza Fears. While she is gone her daughter and husband, Gwen and Grady McEvoy and family, fam-ily, are living in her home. Mr. and Mrs. George Sampson were in Cedar City when Dixie and CSU played footbal, and Dixie won, 28 to 6. Their son Kenneth played with the Dixie Rebels. The Literary Guild, organized In Delta two years ago, made a gift of twenty-four choice books to the Delta Public Library at their yearly business meeting Monday. Club dues purchased the books, which include ten fine books for children, and fourteen books for adult readers. The purpose of the club is to stimulate appreciation of literature.
