Club officers and clean-up campaign cam-paign chairmen met recently and made plans, and signs are being made to put up on clean-up day, Thursday, May 24. The children of the South Tract will help with the project, and will be rewarded for their good work by a sandhill party on the evening of clean-up day. The Garden Club will appreciate the public's help if trash is taken to the dumping grounds instead of thrown along the roads. Beryl Callister, club reporter. Scholarship of $2000 Goes to Ralph Anderson Ralph Anderson, a Brigham Young University graduate student of physical chemistry, recently accepted ac-cepted a scholarship offer from Purdue University in Layfayette, Indiana. The scholarship, sponsored by the Lubrizol Corp., of Cleveland, Ohio, carries a stipend of $2,000 plus all tuition and fees for the coming school year toward a doctorate doc-torate in chemical engineering. The scholarship requires no duties except that he be a full time grad uate student. Anderson received his bachelor of science degree in chemical en gineering last winter and is now working on a master's degree. He served on a mission In the Hawaiian Islands from 1950 - 52. He was awarded the Charles E. Maw scholarship In 1954, and re ceived an $1,800 research assistant grant from Kennecott Copper Corp. in 1955. He Is president of the Chemical Engineering Society at BYU, and the representative of the Chemical Engineers on the Engineers En-gineers Joint Council. Ralph is from Benjamin, and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otto L. Anderson. His wife Is the former Beverly Smith of Spanish Fork, and his grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. J. Lee Anderson of Spanish Fork, and formerly of Oak City. 21 IIS Class of '55 Set Party Jane 2 The Class of '55, Delta High School, has scheduled their class party for Saturday, June 2, at 5 p. m. In Oak City Canyon. There will be sports, games, eats, a program, and a good old get-together. All '55 Seniors and DHS faculty members are Invited. Travel Talk at Fidelity Club i Mrs. Inez Moody was hostess to Fidelity Club members at dinner and a program later. Mrs. Romania Bird gave a travelogue trave-logue and showed pictures taken in Florida and Cuba. Have Word of Sister's Death Mr. and Mrs. Rulon Jones, of Sutherland, had word Tuesday night of the death of Bernelce Erickson, 18, sister of Mrs. Jones, at Smlthfield after an illness of several weeks. Miss Erickson had frequently visited here with Mrs. Jones and made many friends. Funeral services will be conducted Monday In Smithfield. Birihs This Week To Donald and Elaine Gardner Robison. May 9 Karen, Hi-year old daughter of Carl and Alma Miller, Delta, was a patient at the Delta hospital Saturday to Tuesday for medkal care. Mrs. Fred Gavin had surgery at the Delta hospital Wednesday. Casimiro Corral, 59, is a patient at the Delta hospital, with four broken ribs and bruises, received in an accident Saturday when his car turned over 68 miles west of Delta on U. S. 6. He Is a California man, employed as section worker with Western Pacific. Mrs. Carol Hatch, of Provo, and her two little daughters, are visiting visit-ing in Delta with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hansen. JCYPairftayers In Junior Tennis Tournament Thurs. The Junior Tennis Tournament, sponsored by the Delta Junior Chamber of Commerce, open on Thursday at 4 p. m., with single elimination games going on three courts at the same time, North and South Courts at Delta High School, and the Moody Court, a block distant. Lloyd Warner, chairman of the tourney, will have rules posted at the courts, and asks that in case of any change, or inability of a player to keep the schedule, that he be notified at once, to make the necessary changes. The games open Thursday, and elimination goes on through games Friday, Monday and Tuesday, to the Finals Wednesday, at 5 p. m. Reception for Bride and Groom Miss Gaylen Stapley, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Elton Stapley, of Cedar City, and Dale Langston, of Hinckley, will he married Friday in rites in the St. George LDS Temple. A reception for Dale and his bride will be held Saturday night in Cedar Stake House, in Cedar City. A cordial invitation is extended extend-ed to the many frends of the young couple here to attend the recepton. Helta Art Club Is Entertained Mrs. Violet Snow entertained Delta Art Club members Thursday evening. Dinner was served at the Delta Cafe, and cards were played later at the Snow home. Present were Amelia Cole, Donna Sorenson, Loa Black, Romania Bird, Nelle Callister, Athena Cook, Liz Pace, Callie Morrison, Alma Petersen, Peter-sen, Callie Morley, Wanda Beck-with Beck-with and Melba Crafts. At cards Mrs. Pace and Mrs. Callister received the high score awards, and Mrs. Crafts received low. Lyric Lore Club Is Entertained Mrs. Letha Bennett was hostess to the Lyric Lore Club on May 3.
