Thirty-four ladies were there in different stages of dress and undess, combed comb-ed and uncombed, washed and unwashed, powered and just plain. Lorenza Willoughby got first prize for being the best sport and LaVene Gillen got second prize. Breakfast consisted of waffles sausage and the trimmings. The group enjoyed a singing session led by Shirley Skeem, with Verda Anderson accompanist. Glenda Roundy was mistress of ceremonies. Each person read a joke, A good time was had by all. Among the out of town people who spent Memorial Day with relatives and friends in Oasis were Mr. and Mrs. Roy Clark, from Orem, Mr. and Mrs. Art Simmons, and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Simmons from Kearns, Idaho. These people visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter H. Peterson, Saturday. Also visiting with the Peterson's were Mr. and Mrs. June Ivy from Mc Gill Nevada. Mrs. Albie Hansen and her two daughters, Arlie and Betty ,and Betty's husband, Mr. Nelson from Salt Lake City spent Saturday In Oasis. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Stubbert from Ruth Nevada and Mr. and Mrs. Alf Bishop form Salt Lake City were visitors over the weekend with Mrs. Evelyn Hawley. They also visited other members of their families. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Thompson and family from Lynndyl and Mr. and Mrs. Mack Thompson and two children for Milford, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Kelly on Memorial Day. Norman Sjostrom went on a fish ing trip to Kalomazoo, Nevada, over the weekend. Had good luck too. Peter Anderson underwent an operation in Provo on May 5th. He is home now and feeling pretty good. Mrs. Anderson's daughter, Eleanor Elea-nor Peterson, from Provo, was al so a patient in the Provo hospital at the same time. Last Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Seth Larsen and family of six children from American Fork visit ed with Mr. and Mrs. Peter And erson. The two men were missionary mission-ary companions in Denmark A good many years ago. Mrs. Eva Abbott and three child ren form Orem are visiting this week with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Stanworth and other members of her family. Mr. and Mrs. Val Styler, Mrs Hilda Gillen and Mrs. LaVeda Bishop visited in Salt Lake Ctiy a week ago for a few days. Mrs. Fay Howell spent Friday and Saturday In Beaver. SHIPLEY - Mr. and Mrs. George Lund, of Salt Lake, Mrs. Laura Strange of Elko, Nevada, and Mr. and Mrs. Don Anderson, of Provo visited over the week-end with Mrs. Essie Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. John Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. Welby Lovell and girls visited a few days in Pres ton, Idaho, with.Alta's sister. La Priel remained with them for a longer visit and a nephew form Provo came back to spend a week visiting here. Visiting at the Jeff FinlLnson home over the holidays were Mr. and Mrs. Les Walker, their daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. Pete Peterson who stopped enroute to California, Mrs. Nora Gardner and children, and Theon Finlinson and daugh ter. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Warner and Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Smith of Salt Lake City spent Memorial Day visiting here. Mr. and Hrs. Fred Finlinson were guests at the Joseph T. Finlinson Fin-linson home over the week-end. Freddie stayed down for his annual an-nual summer visit. Dr. and Mrs. Carl Russell, of Anchorage, Alaska and Mr. and Mrs. Shelly Nielson are visiting relations here this week. Mrs. Rose Olson, and daughter, and her family spent Saturday with their many friends and relatives. re-latives. Mr. and Mrs. Claud McGuire, Mrs. Dorthella Soderquist and Mr. M. C. Dutson drove down form Salt Lake on Memorial Day. Mr. and Mrs. Dell Bradfield and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Binkerhoff from Magna came and visited with Morgan, Saturday. These people had their car wrecked" some time ago when they ran into cattle on the road. He has his car remodeled remodel-ed and it is doing fine, and his wife is recovered from her Injuries also. Mr. and Mrs. Acel Petty from Los Angeles arrived a week ago to visit their Mother, Zona Hawley. Last Tuesday they took her with them and went on to Provo and Salt Lake where they visited other members of their family, returning Friday. Then Mr. and Mrs. Don Maybe and four children, from Oakley, Idaho spent the week end visiting the family. Mrs. Maybe Is the former for-mer Barbara Petty, daughter of Acel and Loraine. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Brinkerhoff and two children from Tooele visit ed Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Howard How-ard Roundy. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Brush and Mr. and Mrs. Shouler from Los Altos, California, arrived Thursday and spent the rest of the week with Mr. and Mrs. David Nichols. Other guests at the Nichols' home over the week-end were Mr. and Mrs. La Morin Bond and family and Elaine Stewart from Salt Lake City. A week ago Mr. and Mrs. Ray Martin and two children of Salt Lake visited their parents, Mr. and Mrs. David Nichols. Mrs. Irene Stanworth accompanied accompan-ied her parents Mr. and Mrs. Holt to Moore, Emery county, last Sunday. Sun-day. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Skeem and family attended a family reunion reun-ion in Oak City Canyon last Saturday. Sat-urday. Sixty some members of Mrs. Talbot's family enjoyed the day. Sunday, Reed Skeem fell from a horse and broke his arm. This is the third time this arm has been broken. Reed is the sonof Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Skeem. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Clark of Long Beach, Calif., visited their sister, Lillian Roundy. a week ago. They went to Salt Lake City last week. Mr. and Mrs. Don Pettigrew and baby visited with their sister, LaVene La-Vene Gillen over the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Farr and daughter, Lee Ann from PhoenU, Arizona, arrived Saturday, to visit-a visit-a while with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Val Styler. Gerold Bishop left last Friday with the F.F.A. boys and their leader, Eldon Hurst, for a trip to Yellowstone Park. A little bird told me that Marilyn Mar-ilyn Stanworth and Peloy Stewart, of Meadow, were being married June 13. The ceremony will be preformed at the Stanworth home. Good luck to you young folks. Mr. and Mrs Eillie Ferris and two children, from Ely, Nevada, spent the week end visiting their parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Skeem. They returned to their home, Monday Mon-day and their sister Hazel went with them to stay a while. Sunday the Delief Society was reorganised. Mrs'. Bessie Sheriff, Mrs. Florance Lovell and Mrs. Mel-va Mel-va Finlinson and Clara Nielson were released. The new officers were voted in. Mrs. Thelma Dutson as Pres.; Harriet Finlinson, and Susan Shipley councelors and Mrs. Eva Roper, secretary. Wedding Dance t A wedding dance and shower will be held Saturady night for Mr. and Mrs. Reece Finlinson. They were married Friday, May 29 in the Manti Temple. This happy couple will be glad to welcome their 'friends and relatives at this dance Saturday, June 6. The bride is the former Cherie Alldredge . Mrs. Leona East, her daughter, Afton Jolean and Eldula visited a few days at Provo. Russell Mathews is Ln Oak City he will spend the summer here working. Mayor and Mrs. Vern Nielson are happy to have a new baby girl added to their family. The little new-comer arrived June 1st, at the Delta hospital. Mrs. Merlene Lovell Schurtz from St. George spent the past week visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Reed Lovell. The wedding dance for Mr. and Mrs. Howard Dutson, Saturday night was attended by many people and lovely and useful presents pre-sents were given. They left Sunday Sun-day with the Melvin Roper family' fam-ily' where they will make their home this summer at Blackfoot, Idaho. A large crowd attended the fare well dance for Ronald Anderson, and had a good time, last Friday night. His Sunday school class honored him with a party Monday night. Ronald left for Fort Douglas, Tuesday, June 2nd. Mrs. Melba Bennett and children child-ren visited in Oak City from California, Cal-ifornia, coming especially to as- Mrs. Opal Lambright are visiting in California with Mrs. Bessie Parsons Par-sons who is critically ill. Mr. and Mrs. Conrod Vogel and Mrs. Ruth Wiseman were in town over the weekend taking care of their father's affairs. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Dutson visited over Memorial Day In Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Falkner of Ogden drove down to spend the weekend with them. Mr. and Mrs. Bus Nielson of Milford visited over the holidays with Mr. and Mrs. Wells Nielson and with Mr. and Mrs. Sid Searle, of Delta. Mr. and Mrs. Walt Eskland of Scipio, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Hare, of Fillmore, Mr. and Mrs. Vic Stewart, Stew-art, Mrs. Delia King and girls of Salt Lake and Marian Nielson of Hill Field spent the week, end with their mother, Mrs. Mary Lou Nielson Niel-son and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Pihe, Mrs. Wellis Dutson and Miss Wilma Wixon attended a relative funeral at Logan last Monday. A surprise party honored Mrs. Emily Elden, May 20th for her birthday. All her sisters and their families were present and her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Parley Elder. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Whatcott and family are spending the summer in Oak City. Mr. Whatcott will teach school at Fillmore the coming school year. Mrs. Allen Lovell, Mrs. Zella Howard, and children, Mr. and Mrs. Dean Roberts, Rob-erts, Mrs. Lydia Vaudrey, Mrs. El-ma El-ma Anderson Mr. and Mrs. Reed Arnold and children, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Wells and family, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wilden, Mr. andMrs. Blaine Colman, and Mr. and Mrs. Norvel Anderson and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Harris. At Sacrament meeting the little son of Glen arid Mrs. Christensen was blessed and named, Glen Stanley. Also the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Grant Christensen was blessed and named Edna Jean. The people of Oak City appreciate apprec-iate the visit of the Legion at the cemetery and honoring the graves of the departed soldiers. Pvt. Grover Christensen is home for 10 days from Fort Ord, Calif,. Also Richard Christensen from his work at Dugway. Mrs. Richard Finlinson and little son were Oak City visitors, also her parents and sister, Mrs. Ila Billingsly and children visited for a few days. George Talbot is visiting at Hurricane Hur-ricane this week with his sister Viola and family. - Six Successful Stitchers The 3rd meeting of this 4-H club was held at the home of Charlotte Peterson last week, under un-der the leadership of the teacher, Mrs. Eda Christensen and the Junior Jun-ior leader Janet Finlinson. The girte learned to make "Hot Pot Holders" and laundry bags. This meeting was called to order or-der by Judith Finlinson, and later refreshments were served.
