Pace returned to Delta Wednesday from Sun Valley, Val-ley, Idaho, where they attended the Utah Bankers Assn. convention. conven-tion. -They came home by way of Ely and on over U. S. 6, and stopped stop-ped in Baker, Nev., for a tour of Lehman's Cave. Ray Church, who moved to California Cal-ifornia this spring with his wife, Marian and their two daughters, after the sale of his interest In the Crest Theatre, is again employed em-ployed in show business. He is now assistant manager of Paramount Para-mount theatre in Los Angeles, and directs a staff of thirty-six persons. Utah, has added to his herd by the purchase of Crescent Duke 2nd from Hartman & Sons, Mt. Emmons, Em-mons, Utah. They are Jerry Blanch, LoRaine Petersen, Hal Young, Lois Jean Stoneking and LaVoy Tolbert. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Tolbert and boys this week was Rosie Sorensen from Ogden. She is Cleons Aunt and came down to attend LaVoys graduation ex ercises. The Clark Blisses and the Jack Reids have put up some nice looking look-ing gates and entrances with the names of their places on them this past week. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bliss visited visit-ed in Provo and Orem with Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Bliss. Mrs. Mary Schena spent the week in Tintic taking care of her son, Nevo and family after his wife underwent on appendicits operation. We want to Congratulate Mr. and Mrs. Ferron Bliss on the arrival ar-rival of a new baby birl, Kath-ryn. Kath-ryn. The new baby has one older sister, Julie Ann. Jim Brady was home over the weekend from Nevada. He had been lion hunting and had shot his first lion. Mr. and Mrs. Benny Schena came down Sunday to attend the graduation grad-uation exercises in Hinckley. It's swell that Becky is able to get out and around more now and she hopes that she will be able to come home in June. t The program in Church Sunday evening was gi'en by the Aaronic Priesthood. Eugene Young LaVoy Tolbert, Jerry Blanch and Hal Young sang a quartet number, Alva Young gave a talk. Richard Fullmer gave a reading Merrill Peterson gave a talk. President Pres-ident Gus Taylor gave a talk, Bob Blanch a talk, and Hal, Jerry and LaVoy sang a trio number. The Stake Geneological officers attended Sunday School and gave geneology information to the different dif-ferent groups. The Talent show in Delta Friday Fri-day night was given to a very appreciative audience. We have some fine talent in this valley. Afton Fullmer and Emily Young have been working at the "Chicken" "Chick-en" Ranch the past while helping Kenneth and Alcidean with the eggs. Mrs. Nayon Young is the new secretary for the Y.W.M.I.A. in Mut ual taking over the job Dorothy Thompson vacated when she left for California. Sutherland -MRS. ZELDA OGDEN- Job Riding is visiting in Delta with his daughters, Mrs. Nell Cal-lister Cal-lister and Mrs. Rayda Knight. Mrs. Callister drove to Salt Lake City during the week to bring him here and Mrs. Riding went to Burbank, Cal., to attend funeral services for a niece, Maxine Steele. She returned re-turned to Delta early this week and after a visit here she and Mr. Riding are returning to their home. Mrs. Jay Bennett has her mother Mrs. Hansen, of Logan visiting her. Mr. and Mrs. Tillman Johnson spent the weekend home from school. Mrs. Wesley Hardy visited with Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Steele. Mrs. , Eleanor Roberts was hostess hos-tess to the "As You Like It" club at her home. Members present were Elaine Turner, Floras San-ford, San-ford, Dail Bishop, Hazel Walker, Nella Jackson, Zelda Ogden, and Maxine Owens, and guest, Mary Tippetts. We want to congratulate Zoe and Jack Fowles on their new baby boy born Sunday. A very large crowd attended the program Sunday morning given by the Junior Sunday School in honor hon-or of mothers. And Each mother was presented with a potted plant. Arc Here From Alaska To Visit Major Carl M. Russell, and his wife, Capt. Virginia Nielson Russell, Rus-sell, with the U.S. Air Force at Anchorage, Alaska, have a two-week two-week leave and are visiting in Utah, with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Nielson, in Salt Lake City, and brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Grant Nielson, at Leamington. Leam-ington. From here they will go to New York, to visit Major Russell's parents. par-ents. Thev are traveling by air lines to have more time for visits with their families. They will fly to Anchorage when their leave ends. Both recently received promo tions, -from captain to Major for Maj. Russell and from first lieut enant to captain for Mrs. Russell. She has served two years as flight nurse with the WAF. Wins Prize With E-a mi in $4 Story Scott Skidmore, Delta FFA member, mem-ber, won second place and a prize of $5.00 with his "Biography of Myself and My Projects In Vocational Voca-tional Agriculture," published with his picture in the April, 1953, issue of The American Farm Youth, read by more than a quarter million young farmers. First place, and $10.. was won by Bob Fox, of New Castle, Perm. Their stories gave a good picture of the difference in farm projects in Pennsylvania and Utah. Whereas Bob farmer! 3.08 acres and specialized in broilers, straw berries and squash, Scott helps his father, Evan Skidmore, on their 160-acre farm, rented 11 acres to grow alfalfa and barley, which he fed back into his livestock of beef and swine. Both boys profited profit-ed financially from itheir varied projects. Scott's story was an interesting account of his work and progress starting with 4-H membership and continuing with FFA. He conclud es with the statement that after graduation from college he intends to attend an agricultural college, purchase a small farm, and keep expanding it until he has a well rounded farming program. Nels, who is employed with contractors at Hawthorne, Nev., came home for the weekend for a visit. IILACK noac Mrs Merrill Miller Lee Barton and Ray Keller of Manti stopped in at the Black Rock Ranch. Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Mitchell and Reid Mitchell of Fillmore were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Miller. A farewell supper for the Adair family was held at their cabin on the Cricket Lime properties. Those present were Mr.s Adair Mrs. Kay Reese, and son steve, Keith Christensen, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Miller, Hampton Burke, and Walter Miller, Bert Adair, and Smith Adair missed the dinner as they didn.t return from Delta until un-til later. Mr. and Mrs. Arlo Gale of Mil-ford Mil-ford stopped in at the Black Rock Ranch and later went with Hampton Hamp-ton Burke to hunt arrowheads. Wallace Winch of Manti stopped in at the Black Rock Ranch. Merrill Miller and Hampton Burke Bur-ke were in Fillmore on business. Jessie Lynn Cook and friend, Miss Vangie Bikakis, from the U. of U. visited in Delta Saturday and Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.. E. Cook. Spencer and Norma Wright are enjoying a fine vacation, according accord-ing to word from them from Hawaii, Ha-waii, where they arrived over a week ago. They have sent home by air mail, some baby orchid corsages cor-sages for their staff at the Variety Var-iety Store and for members of Mrs. Wright's rook club. Also Mrs. Wright wrote that she was tempted temp-ted to take guitar lessons, and I Spence was considering the hula.
