Strong Jr. offered congratulations congratula-tions to the couple at an informal inform-al "Meet the Mrs" party given Friday evening in the Alpine ward amusement hall by the parents par-ents of the groom. The bride is the former Ellen Christensen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Christensen, Ephraim. Mrs. Reid Burgess was mistress of ceremonies for a program which included duet and dance numbers by Jaennine and Rue Ann Winter, readings by Mazie Nash, solos by Carolyn Burgess, and an original reading by Mrs. Dale Burgess. Mrs. Edward W. Burgess has charge of the refreshments and was assisted by.. Mrs. Grover Clark, Mrs. Frank Bateman and Mrs. George A. Brown. LuDean Johnson, Elizabeth Atkinson and Ada Mae Wilde served. Walker performing the double ring ceremony at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Strong, Alpine. For her wedding the bride chose a model of brocaded taffeta taffe-ta with an illusion veil caught to a tiara of pearls. She carried a bouquet of roses and carnations Miss Elaine Christensen, twin sister of the bride, was maid of honor, and attendants were Mrs Jack Leatherbury and Miss Roxie Strong, sisters of the groom Their corsages were pink roses. Mrs. Christensen and Mrs. Strong had red rose corsages. Jack Leatherbury performed best man duty. Following the ceremony re freshments were served to mem bers of the immediate families. The dining table, covered with an elaborate Quaker lace cloth, held for a centerpiece a toeauti fully decorated wedding cake flanked by candelabra with white tapers. The bride, the former Joyce Chadwick, is the daughter of Mrs. Alfred Chadwick, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Withers, With-ers, Draper. Gowned in heavy satin with lace yoke and peplum, silk net veil cascading from a halo, the bride carried a heart-shaped bouquet bou-quet of American Beauty roses and carnations tied with satin ribbon. Mrs. N. J. Campbell, matron of honor, and attendants, Mrs. T. J. Thornton, Mrs. Dan Cardwell, Mrs. Don Christen, and Miss Donna Withers in pastel shaded frocks held heart-shaped bouquets bou-quets of chrysanthemums. Mrs Chadwick wore gray crepe and Mrs. Withers, mother of the groom, was attired in black and both had corsages of gardenias and rosebuds. Roseann Hansen and Sherry Campbell .were flower girls and Gary Campbell and Marilyn Withers were trainbearers. Gor don Withers performed best man duties for his brother. Francis B. Abel emceed the program with Miss Edith Paw-lowski, Paw-lowski, Miss Ileen Sunderland, Mrs. Lowell Merkley, Mrs. Calvin Withers, Miss Gerandine Penrod and Leo T. Hansen taking part. Mrs. David Ewell, Provo, who presided over the refreshments, was assisted by Mrs. Reese Stap- ley, and Mrs. Dean Hansen. Ber- neice Haag, Darlene Withers and Patsy Tucker served. Mr. and Mrs. LaMar Withers welcomed the guests. Decorations were sheaves of wheat and light ed tapers. All girls in the ward, from 17 to 24, with the exception of four, were present. Participating in the binding of the Sheaf were Mary Vance, Maurine W. Madsen, Emily G. Beck, Evelyn C- Clark, and Lola B. Whitby. The story of Ruth was told by Joan Carlisle, the poem "Gleaner Pin" was read by Cleone Bateman, "What Being a Gleaner Has Meant to Me" was told by June S. Beck, Marilyn Devey played a piano solo, and Miss Vance sang a solo. Prayers were offered by Lorna B. Devey and Ula B. Hemingway, the class leader. Class officers are Luella Bennett, Mary Vance and Joan Carlisle. Eight Junior Girls, all of the age group in the Second ward held their Rose ceremony Monday Mon-day night during MIA hours in the Relief Society room of the church. Mothers of the girls and the YWMIA presidency were special guests. Mrs. Afton Steiner, stake Junior leader, was also present and showed the girls the Church awards given for filling group requirements. The girls sang "The Rose" and following the ceremony, the bou quet was tied by Mrs. Lila O. Hansen, group leader, and pre sented to Mrs. Alma L. Earl, YWMIA president. Melissa Han sen gave a tribute to the moth ers and Mrs. James S. Chadwick made the response. Jean Biggs played an accordian solo, Joan Chadwick, a piano solo, and poems were read by the girls. , East Lane Mrs. Sam Walker was hostess to the East Lane bridge club Monday evening.
