Thomas Church News Utah's 1948 State Fair will be held in Salt Lake City, September 18 through 25, according to word just released from the State Fair Board office. In making the announcement for the Board, Mr. David II. Thomas, President of the Utah State Fair Association, stated that all departments of the Fair would be in full operation this year. This marks the first time in recent years that conditions have permitted a full-scale State Fair, he stated. "We will have among the attractions at-tractions at the Fair the largest industrial exhibit we have ever had," Mr. Thomas said. "The Utah Junior Chamber of Commerce Com-merce is sponsoring the sale of space for us in this department and are doing a masterful job." Mr. Thomas further stated that the largest display of agriculture machinery and implements ever to be assembled for a State Fair will be in evidence during the eight days of the Fair's duration. "Over 128,000 square feet of outdoor out-door space has been booked by the various firms handling machinery ma-chinery and implement lines," Mr. Thomas said. There will be two big free shows, "The General Motors Preview Pre-view of Progress" and "Western Special," a large exhibit from the U. S. Department of Agriculture. Agricul-ture. There will be four days of intimate revues, during which the Miss America Contest for Utah will be conducted. Other entertainment programs will Second Ward Fast day services will be held in the Second ward Sunday morning at 10:15 a. m., Sunday School will convene at 11:15, and Priesthood meeting will be held at 9:15. Seventh Ward Sunday School 10:15 a. m. Fast Day services 11:15. Evening Service Sunday evening at 8:00 p. m. will be Ee Hive Award night for the Seventh ward. Musical pre lude will be by Barbara Buck-waiter Buck-waiter I a flag ceremony by the graduates, Miss Buckwalter, Ina Fae Chipman, Joyce Crookston Marilyn Miller and Christine Warnick; invocation, Janice Dean, and Welcome to the girls entering Bee Hive by Ruth Wag- staff. LaPriel Walter, stake Bee Hive leader; Ethel Mecham, stake YWMIA president; Hazel Wim-mer, Wim-mer, ward Builder leader, and Marilyn Miller will all give short talks. ReNae Chilton will give the benediction. Musical num bers will intersperse the talks. tests in music, art, home arts; the many stock shows and other items of Fair procedure. There will be $25,000.00 in premiums offered this year, out lined in the Premium List soon to be distributed. Mr. Thomas advised all persons and groups contemplating an exhibit at the Fair to make arrangements early for their displays.
