With the Republican convention conven-tion in Philadelphia holding the national spotlight this week and the national Democratic convention conven-tion soon to come, the attention of voters is drawn to the political calendar. With the Primary election day slated for September 7th, and the general election on November 2, voters are urged to note the dates designated for registration. Following are dates for voters to remember as well as those in charge of election affairs: June 21-2& On or before the 4th Monday in June the county central committee of each party shall send a list of names of ap plicants for Judges of election to the county clerk. July 3 Registration Day. July 12 Democratic national convention at Philadelphia. July 16 Republican state pri mary convention, Salt Lake City. July 17 Continuation of Re publican state convention, Salt Lake City. July 27 Registration Day. Sponsored by the American Legion and the Auxiliary, Aux-iliary, the Boys will meet at Camp Williams for two weeks, and the girls will go to the USAC at Logan from July 11 to 18. Aims of the movements are to educate them in the duties, priv ileges, rights, and responsibili ties of American Citizenship. Fundamental principals are taught by actual practice and control of state offices and leg islature during the session. Edith Moss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Moss, and Zola Bennett, daughterof Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Bennett, were the girls selected by Principal Jesse M. Walker and officers of the Auxiliary. Lloyd Wright, son of Mr. and Mrs. William II. Wright, is being sponsored by the Junior Cham ber of Commerce. He has been on the track team, was elected to the National Honor Society, to president of the Seminary for next year, and also . business manager of the Forkaster. Legion Post 49 is sponsoring Wendell Strong, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Strong, Alpine. He had the male lead in the high school opera, is a member of the band, and Kappa Delta Alpha speech club, took part in the club play. Mark Grant, sponsored by Ro tary, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Knord Beck. He has been elected student body president for next year, has played football, basketball, bas-ketball, and on track. He was junior prom cochairman, a mem ber of the year book staff, band, National Honor Society, and Beethoven club. Local Farmers Asking For Farm Help There Is a labor shortage among the farmers and fruit growers of the district, G. Easton Brown, secretary of the American Fork Chamber of Commerce, reported re-ported the first of the week. There has been a scarcity of berry ber-ry pickers and now the cherries In Orem are coming on the shortage is more acute. Efforts are. being made to recruit 700 pickers from, the north end ofl the county. All boys and girls over 14 desiring desir-ing work can register at the Chamber of Commerce with Mr. Brown and will be given jobs. There is a bus travels each day between Lehi and Orem to take workers to and from their jobs. The six students, all seniors, were selected by Mr. Walker and were picked with the Idea of being be-ing able to bring back to the school valuable help from the experiences of the two sessions. Clubs sponsoring the boys are each giving the $25 entrance fee so there will be no expense to the bov. The Legion Auxiliary 1 is paying the fees for the girls.
