Greene visited in Murray Wednesday of last week with her daughter, Mrs. Wyman J. Ovard. Mrs. Clark Conder, Victorville, Calif., who has been visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Gillman, Orem, spent Friday with Mr. and Mrs. William H. Wright. Mrs. John F. Miller returned home Monday afternoon after spending three weeks in Los Angeles and Huntington Park, Calif., with her daughters, Mrs Warren G. Heaton and Mrs. Dean Freshwater and families. Adult social group met at the Presbyterian Community church Wednesday evening of last week. Officers chosen at the recent organization or-ganization meeting were retained retain-ed for the coming year. They are Mrs. J. A. Tracy, president; Mrs. Varrlan O. Tritt, vice president; presi-dent; and Mrs. Marvin Teuscher, secretary-treasurer. Motion pictures pic-tures were shown by Marlon S. Ross and refreshments were served toy Mrs. Louis Wolfe and Mrs. Grant Schaumberg. On Wednesday, January 14, Richard Mecham, son of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Mecham celebrated his ninth birthday by having a party after school. The young guests enjoyed games and a tasty lunch. In the group were Larry Miller, Ray MacDonald, Jay Mott, Everett Turner, David Nichols, Nich-ols, Joleen and Deanna Grant, and Jeanette Mecham. In the evening Mr. and Mrs. Arza Adams, and Mr. and Mrs. Lee Warnick of Manila dropped in to add to the "happy birthday" wishes. Mr. and Mrs. George A. Brown and daughter Laura Beth, Alpine, visited in Ogden Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Dell Carroll. Miss Brown remained and Monday morning began training as a nurse at the St. Benedict's Hos pital. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence W. Hansen and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hansen have returned from a vacation trip of two weeks which included a visit in Los Angeles with brothers and sisters and seeing an Earl Carroll produc tion, a trip to San Diego, Tla juana, Mexicali, and a retAirn trip to Phoenix and Hoover Dam. Mr. and Mrs. William H. Wright returned home Tuesday from California where they saw the Rose parade, visited overnight with Mr. and Mrs. Clark Conder, Victorville, Calif., and came home by way of San Francisco. Gardner were Provo visitors Saturday with Miss Cady Dunk ley, who is now getting around the house after a bad fall. Mr. and Mrs. Bert Timpson returned home this week from California where they saw the Rose Parade, visited a week in Glendale with Mr. and Mrs. Frank Timpson, and a week in Holly wood with Mr. and Mrs. Charles Thorne. Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Greenwood, Mr. and Mrs. G. Easton Brown and small son George, returned Monday from a short trip to Du rango, Colorado. While there they were guests of Mr. and Mrs Douglas Strong (Dorothy Green wood) and little daughter Con nie. Mrs. Elmer Smith, Klamath Falls, Oregon, paid a short visit to American Fork Sunday after noon. She was formerly Edrie McBride, daughter of the late William A. and Emmallne B. Mc Bride, former residents of this city. She enjoyed meeting a few relatives and close friends at the home of her aunt, Mrs. Mary J. Cunningham. She was called to View, Idaho, by the death of her mother and came to Utah for a short visit before returning to Oregon this week. SEWING CLASSES There Is still room for a few more ladies in the Friday afternoon after-noon adult sewing classes at the high school, Mrs., Marcelle H. Skinner, instructor, announced Monday. Call Mrs. Skinner for information. CLASSES IN HOME DECORATING If there are enough people in town interested in a class in Home Improvement and Decora tion one will be started by the Adult Education committee, under un-der the sponsorship of the PTA. The class will be very practical with demonstrations in fabric painting and rug making'. Mrs. Agnes B. Dauwalder will be the Instructor. All interested are asked to call Mrs. L. J. Wadley (76-W), or Mrs. Joe Mulliner (631-W-. GEOLOGIST TELLS HISTORY OF VALLEY Charles B. Hunt, Alpine, prom inent Utah geologist, was guest speaker at the meeting of the Alpine Parent-Teachers associa tion Tuesday evening. He dis cussed the geological history of Utah valley, giving the history of the three lakes, especially Lake Bonneville, and ways of identi fying them and the deposits they left. Of keen interest was Mr. Hunt's dip into the future when he told the assembled 75 persons of the possibilities of Alpine as a winter resort and recreation center.
