One of those "Breakfast in the morning" radio shows came to Capitol Capi-tol City last week, and Sarrah Carey won first prize for wearing the craziest cra-ziest hat in the audience. It was a full-sized refrigerator! (The prize, not the hat.) "Glad them hats of hers paid off at last," says Ed, treating the whole thing like a joke. But you could see he was proud of Sarrah. From where I sit, there's another thing Ed can be proud of: the way he's put up with those hats of Sarrah's, with neveracriticism; just as she's put up with Ed's pipe and the other little freedoms he enjoys. They've got that refrigerator home now, stocked with beet; and we're going over tonight to drink a toast not just to Sarrah's hats taking tak-ing first prize ... but to a happily married couple, who've learned to live with one another's differences in tastes whether it's a taste for hats or beer J Copyright, 1947, United States Brewer, Foundation SALT LAKE CITY STATE FAIRGROUNDS FOR LIMITED ENGAGEMENT) iU COUNT RFDMI - - kfXI.I I lk J- nil THE STAGE MAMMOTH PRODUCTION if a I if RILLIANT ALL-STAR CAST OF 70 A i MODRRV MTNSTRFl, MUSICAL COMtDV with a PUaxT of world f. Card of Thanks Asorbs Excess Salt When you find that you have too much salt in your soup stock, the flavor may be improved by dropping drop-ping a few slices of raw potato in the soup. The potato will absorb some of the excess salt. Of course the potato should be removed before the soup is served. New Dyeing It wasn't until 1856 that dyeing began to be released from its dependency de-pendency upon vegetables and mineral min-eral sources. In that year, an English Eng-lish student, named William Henry Perkin,, discovered that aniline derived de-rived from coal tar could be chemically chem-ically treated to produce beautiful and lasting colors. is so Y) if EASY llC Jack and Barbara and the broth ers and sisters of Mrs. Clara Neal wish to thank their many friends and neighbors for their kind thoughtfulness during her long ill ness, for the floral offerings, the food, the kind expressions of sym pathy and the many acts of kind ness extended to us as a family, and to all who so willingly took part on the program at the services, serv-ices, we are sincerely grateful. The bulk they contain con-tain helps prevent constipation. Their mineral value is of importance to health, too. Since vitamin C is not stored In the body, and since it has a special function to perform in keeping the body tissues healthy, the goal is one serving of citrus fruit per day. Wash one section at a time with a light lather of lukewarm suds. Wring out a lintless cloth nearly dry in clear water and go over the sudsed spot Then wipe with a dry cloth. If there is heavy accumulation of polish, you may need to repeat this washing process a second time to remove all traces of grime. Polish when the wood is completely clean and dry. HOG CHOLERA VIRUS MOST POTENT KILLER Sometimes the question is asked - "What is the most powerful, kill-ii kill-ii . livestock disease agent known to modern science?" There is just one answer the ' viru of hog cholera. Recent studies WWR'WW"1 v.-: -:t y.y . v. v. :..v i A typical case of hog cnolera. show that as little a ONE MILLIONTH MIL-LIONTH of a cubic centimeter of hig cholerc virus can easily kill a pig. A fly, flitting from one farm t another, can carry on its legs enough of "lis powerful virus to dart an outbreak of cholera in a drove of susceptible hogs. These are some of the reasons why hog cholera today remains the No. 1 swine Kiuer in America, causing losses of $20,000,000 tc S60.000.000 per year. These losses could be prevented if all farmers had their pigs vaccinated against cholera around weaning time. But. unfortunately, there are always some swine raisers who are inclined to "take a chance," and it is these unprotected herds which are the first victims of cholera every year, and which remain in the commun itv as centers of infection and sources of cholera danger to other droves of swine. The common symptoms of hog chUera include a tendency on tht p t of the sick animals to remain in the house, to burrow under bedding, bed-ding, to pile up, weakness oi partial paralysis, and persistent scours. Often one o two hogs wiL 'die, and then it will be several days before the remainder of the here will beein to show symptoms. U any of the above symptoms appear a prompt veterinary diagnosi; should be obtained, because choler; often resembles other swine di serses, and a correct diagnosis is t most important factor towarc proper control measures. h . The colors are selected from dry paint samples, spectrally arranged formulas. Six colors, gray and white, are used in the system. Selection of the right color to match or blend with a fabric or decorating piece is done by means of nine plastic charts, which are said to offer a choice of 1,000 evenly stepped tints, tones and shades covering the entire color spectrum.
