Miss Barbara Beth Worlton is visiting In Salt Lake City with relatives until after the holiday, Mrs. Sarah Call of Logan is visiting with her daughter, Mrs. Grace Webb, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Leland S. Wilcox and Miss Mattle Davis of Salt Lake City spent Sunday with President and Mrs. A. C. Schow. Mr. and Mrs. Morris Thomas and three children, Elva. Merlin and Idadean left Tuesday for Tremonton, where they will visit until Memorial Day. Don Evans, former Lehi high school tennis champion, has been showing good playing with the BYU doubles team, defeating the U of TJ and USAC in recent matches. He is teamed with Jack Thurgood of Provo. Mrs. John Brown attended a dinner party at the Alpine Grille Tuesday given by Mrs. Denzil A. Brown of Provo. Mrs. Brown, who is 86 years old, was the eldest lady present. George C. Leany attended a meeting of the Intermountain Electric association to Provo last week, where he was named a director di-rector of the Utah County chapter. Members of Eldon Harding's science classes are enjoying a three-day trip to Bryce Canyon and Zion's National Park. They left early Monday morning, and expect to return Wednesday. Mrs. Maude Adams, who has been teaching school in Price during the past year, has return ed home for the summer. Mr. and Mrs. James Gottfred son, Jr. (Faye Hutchings) of Caliente, Nevada, have returned to their home after a short visit with her mother, Mrs. William Skinner. They came to attend funeral services for Mrs. Gott- fredson's brother, Ralph Hutch' ings. Mr. and Mrs. Avery Hutch' ings of Pocatello, Idaho, who also came to attend the funeral, have returned to their home. Haws, spent Friday evening at the genealogical genealog-ical library in Salt Lake City doing do-ing individual research. W. A. Evans was taken to the Lehi hospital Monday morning with pneumonia. Mr. Evans had apparently been in good health until Sunday afternoon, when he became ill. Mrs. Theo Pierson, who recently recent-ly underwent an emergency operation op-eration in Salt Lake City, has been removed from the LDS hospital hos-pital to the home of her son, Fred Garton of that city. She is reported to be improving rapidly. Mrs. Dorothy Ivers and Mrs. W. D. Watkins attended the Ace High bridge club at the home of Mrs. Howard Ferguson in Provo Friday evening. The party was also a shower in honor of Mrs. Fay Bellingston. Mrs. Ivers won the high score award, and Mrs, Watkins won the bingo prize. Marriages HONORED AT RECEPTION Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Dancing to Carter's orchestra completed the evening's entertainment. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson recently arrived from Bremerton, Wash ington where Mr. Nelson has been stationed with the U. S. Navy. He received his honorable release Mav 3. The young couple are making their home in Pleasant Grove. COLLEDGE-CURTIS Mr. and Mrs. Lee Colledge are announcing the engagement and coming marriage of their daughter, daugh-ter, Letha, to Darrell K. Curtis, son of Mrs. Elizabeth Curtis of Salt Lake City. The young cou pie plan to be married today, May 29, in the Salt Lake Temple. , The bride is a member of the 1944 graduation class of the Lehi high school, and since then has been employed at the office of the Geneva Steel company and at Z. C. M. I. in Salt Lake City. The groom was recently dis charged from the U. S. Navy. The young couple plan to make their homes in Salt Lake City. IIADFIELD-WING Mr. and Mrs. Mark Shaw and Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Shaw visited with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Jones and Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Lewis Friday evening. They came to attend graduation exercises for Donald Jones, grandson of the Mark Shaws. Enjoying a pleasant day's outing out-ing at Luke's Hot Pots in Midway Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. George Strasburg, Miss Edith Strasburg, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Johnson and family, Mrs. Mae Daly of Deseret, Mr. and Mrs. Allen Stras burg and Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Strasburg of Pleasant Grove, and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Woolston and sons, Paul and Lynn, of Provo. , - A "Rooms only $3.18 'A Bishop and Mrs. William Had- field announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Willa, and Alva Ralph Wing, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alva H. Wing of this city. The marriage will take place in the Salt Lake Temple, and will be followed by a wedding reception in the Lehi Third ward chapel at 8:30 p. m. A graduate of the Lehi high school in 1943, Miss Hadfield was active in student affairs, being cheer leader and student body vice president in her junior and senior year, respectively. She later attended the Brigham Young university. She has taken tak-en an active part in church and social affairs, particularly in music groups. She has been employed em-ployed in the office of the Mountain States Telephone and Telegraph company in Lehi. Mr. Wing was prominent in athl.tics while attending the Lehi high school, winning the Prior award for the outstanding football player in. 1943, and a member of the tennis squad. He is a graduate of the California College of Mortuary Science, and was recently discharged from the U. 8. Smith in honor of their daughter, Beatrice, and Irven D. Smith, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Tho-mas J. Smith of Marysville, California, Cali-fornia, who were married May 1 at the home of the bride's parents. par-ents. Nearly three hundred guests attended the reception, which was held in the Fourth ward amusement hall. The bride was lovely in white chiffon, fashlon-eed fashlon-eed with sweetheart neckline, short puffed sleeves and bouffant skirt entrain, her three-quarter length veil cascading from a coronet cor-onet of lily-of-the-valley. Her bouquet was of red roses and gardenias. Elbow-length gloves completed her costume. Mrs. Leo Loveridge, Miss Naomi Skinner and Mrs. Robert Godfrey God-frey were atteendants. Mrs. Loveridge and Mrs. Godfrey wore, blue, while Miss Skinner was in black. Each carried nosegays of roses and sweet peas. The bride's mother wore blue heavy brocaded taffeta, with a corsage of gardenias and talisman talis-man roses. Ernest Smith, cousin of the bride, served as best man. Grant Christofferson was master mas-ter of ceremonies at the program, which included a vocal trio by Mrs. Clyde Dorton, Mrs. Virgil Peterson and Mrs. Leona Shelton, accompanied by Mrs. Abraham Anderson; a piano selection by Mrs. Stella Smith; a vocal solo by Mrs. Grace Webb, accompanied by Miss Naomi Skinner; and a vocal solo by Miss Cleo Christen- sen, accompanied by Mrs. Orville Gunther. A pink and white color scheme was used throughout the hall. The serving table was attractive ly arranged with a large wedding cake centering the lace cloth, two large pink tapers in crystals holders on either side. Mrs. A. K. Chatfield and Mrs. Milton Russon presided, and Misses La-Rae La-Rae Smith, Uvonna Smith, Eunice Eu-nice Ann Ross and Wanda Hartshorn Harts-horn served. Mrs. Ruth Smith, Miss Carol Noxberg and Miss My-ra My-ra Jones were in charge of the gift display. Dancing to Carter's Orchestra completed the entertainment. enter-tainment. The bride is a graduate of the Lehi high school, where she was a member of the orchestra and chorus. She has been active in the organizations of the Fourth ward. Since her graduation she was employed at Watkins Cafe and at St. Johns. ; . The groom was discharged April 26 from the U. S. Army, with a rank of Staff Sergeant, after three years and nine months of service. A member of the Third Army medical corps, he also drove supplies to the front lines, serving in Germany, Cezko-slovakia, Cezko-slovakia, and France. He has one battle star, for the battle of the Bulge, and possesses the Good Conduct medal and President's Presi-dent's Citation. The bride's uncle, Bishop Joseph E. Smith, officiated at the wedding ceremony, in the presence pres-ence of Mr. and Mrs. Orville Gunther, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll Smith, Mrs. Joseph E. Smith, Mrs. Mary Brcwn, and Mr. and Mrs. John Smith. Mrs. Ruth Smith was matron of honor, and ErnestSmith stood up with the groom. The bride wore a gold suit, and Mrs. Smith wore blue crepe. Following the ceremony, the young couple left for a short trip. They plan to make their home in Tulare, California, after a brief visit with the groom's parents in Marysville.
