REPORTS FOR DUTY Wayne Carson left Friday evening eve-ning for Camp Carson, Colorado, for reassignment, following a month's visit here with his wife. Sgt. Carson recently returned from Europe, after recovering from wounds suffered while he was serving with the infantry. He was one of the first reinforcements rein-forcements sent after the invasion inva-sion of Normandy. - RETURNS FROM OVERSEAS Lt. Wilson Lott'has just returned re-turned to the States from Europe, where he has served as a navigator naviga-tor on weather recoinassance duty with the air corps. He has Joined his wife, who has been residing in New Hampshire, and they plan to visit Boston and New York City before he again reports for overseas duty. Richard Allred is visiting with relatives and friends in Lehi and vicinitv. A son of the late Hilford Allred, Lt. Allred has been stationed in the South Pacific Pa-cific with the weather depart ment of the air corps. CALLS FAMILY Reed Hutchings telephoned his wife, the former Beryl Curtis, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Skinner from Fort Ord, California, Tuesday evening, prior pri-or to leaving .for overseas duty. Formerly stationed at Ft. Ben-ning, Ben-ning, Georgia, he was transferred transfer-red to Fort Ord on May 13. RECEIVES ADVANCEMENT Mrs. James Gottfredson ." Jr. (Faye Hutchings) of Caliente, Nevada, received word this week that her husband has been advanced ad-vanced to Motor Machinists Mate First Class, and is now top man in the engine room of his ship. With the U. S. Navy, he is stationed sta-tioned near Guam aboard a coast guard chaser. RETURNS FOR OVERSEAS DUTY Lt. (j. g.) Boyd J. Larsen of the U. S. Navy left Tuesday for Bremerton, Washington, where he will return to overseas duty as a doctor aboard the U. S. S. Wiley. Lt. Larsen has been visiting visit-ing here a few days with his parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Edward J. Larsen, and his wife, the former Roberta Ball, and two children,' Marcia Jane and Brent. Mrs. Larsen drove here from Brem- eerton with him, having gone there a few days earlier. She is making her home here with her mother, Mrs. Martha Ball. WRITES FROM HOSPITAL Mrs. Mildred Adamson Mitchell received two letters this week from her husband, Sgt. Dean Mitchell, who is receiving treatment treat-ment at a hospital in the European Europ-ean theater, following liberation from a German prison camp. He said that he owes his life to the Red Cross, who helped their meager food supplies while in prison. He also said that he is underweight, but that "good American food" would soon remedy that. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. David R. Mitchell, also received word from their son. RECEIVES CABLEGRAM Mrs." John' Bushman was pleasantly pleas-antly surprised with a cablegram from her son, Sgt. Keith Bush man, bearing Mother's Day greetings. Sgt. Bushman is serving serv-ing with Patton's army in Germany. Ger-many. y . It vv a0 i VISITING PARENTS Junior D. Carson,' who has been stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, is visiting his parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. David H. Carson Car-son this week. ADVANCED TO CAPTAIN Leo C. Van Kalmthout of Dem-ing Dem-ing Army Air Base at Deming, New Mexico, has been advanced to the rank of Captain, relatives learned this week. Mrs. Kalmthout Kalm-thout is the former Barbara Worthen of this city, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Worthen. Beef Slaughter Payment Program Outlined The War Food Administration has announced the adoption of a "Beef Production Payment Program" Pro-gram" G. Frank Nelson chairman chair-man of the Utah County AAA Committee reported today. The program is designed to increase the slaughter of beef cattle as a means of releaving the present acute meat shortage Mr. Nelson Said. The program offers a payment of 50 cents per hundredweight on sales of good and choice beef beginning May 19, provided the cattle sold for slaughter are (1) owned and fed by the applicant at least 30 days, (2) sold to a licensed slaughterer, (3) 800 pounds liveweight or more, and (4) the sale price is at least the amount listed for minimum of the stabilization range for good grade cattle set forth in price regulations MPR 574 issued January Jan-uary 29, 1945. All cattlemen are urged to retain re-tain evidence of sales to present with their application for payment, pay-ment, Mr. Nelson said. Payments will be issued in a similar manner to payments under the present Dairy Production Program.
