Samuelson, Mrs. Harriet Banks and Mrs. Er-vin Er-vin Dahl and daughter, Karen, all of Salt Lake City, visited in Lehi Monday with Mr. and Mrs. Junius Banks. Mrs. J. Earl Smith attended open house at the home of her sister, Mrs. John Christensen In Salt Lake City Tuesday, honoring; honor-ing; their mother. Mrs. Martha Bringhurst of Pocatello, Idaho, on her 79th birthday anniver sary. ' Mr. and 'Mrs. Leo Sudweeks and little son of Salt Lake City visited in Lehi Sunday with Mrs. Sudweeks' grandmother, Mrs. Mary Winn. Miss Myrle Stone of Salt Lake City, cadet nurse, spent the weak end In Lehi with her parents, par-ents, Mr. and Mrs. Arvil O. Stone. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Beveridge of Pleasant Grove spent Monday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Hebertson. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Burgess and family were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ferrin Gurney Tuesday evening. Miss Nita Brooks recently returned re-turned home from a two weeks visit in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she attended the wedding of her sister, Vonda. Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Hebertson were Mrs. Marie Marsden and Mr. and Mrs. Enos Nielsen and family of Orem, Mr. and Mrs. Albert Nielsen and children of Lindon, and Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Pierce and daughter, Diane, of Salt Lake City. Mrs. Jennie Nostrum spent the week end in Spanish Fork visiting with Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Hardy. Mrs. James Gottfredson and baby arrived here last Saturday from Caliente, Nevada, where they had been visiting with Mr. and Mrs. James Gottfredson Sr. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wanlass and family and Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Wanlass visited in American Fork Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Wanlass. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Burgess were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Burgess at their home In Alpine Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Hunter of Provo called at the J. C. Wanlass home Tuesday, enroute to Morgan Mor-gan to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Roy E. Francis, whose son, Malin, had been reported killed in action. Grant Haws and Grant Smith I spent Saturday in Salt Lake City. i Mrs. Bob McDevitt of Salt Lake City visited in Lehi last week with Mrs. Wane Christensen. Miss Darlene Stlce of Highland High-land spent last week-end in Lehi with her grandmother, Mrs. Alice Stice. Mr. and Mrs. Vern Webb spent last week in Lehi on business. The Webb family have moved to Idaho, where they have purchased purchas-ed a farm near Blackfoot. Miss Shirley Van Wagoner of Provo spent the week-end in Lehi as a guest of Miss Beverly Wlnegar. Mrs. Ralph Jackman and Mrs. Cecil Stephenson of Levan are visiting this week with their mother, Mrs.- Nicholine Powell; arriving here Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Van Wagoner Wag-oner and daughters, Shirley and Anna Loye, of Provo spent Saturday Sat-urday evening with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Powell and family. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Woffinden are moving into the former Vern Webb home on North Third West street this week. Mrs. Keith Powell entertained at a birthday party, honoring her son, Tony, on his fourth birthday anniversary Saturday. Games were played, and refreshments, refresh-ments, of which a large pink and white cake was the feature, were served. Guests included Brian and John Bone, Donald Haslam, Paul and Melvin Meredith, Boyd Peterson, and Gary Powell. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Burgess entertained at dinner Wednesday Wednes-day evening for the following: Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Whitby, Mr. and Mrs. Thayne Bateman and Mr. and Mrs. Reed Burgess, all of Alpine, Mr. and Mrs. Ferrin Gurney, Mr. and Mrs. Don Fowler, Fow-ler, and Mr. and Mrs. Junius Banks. Members of the Liahonian Literary club met at the home of Mrs. Utella Taft Wednesday evening. Mrs. Arva Bone gave a review of the book, "War and Peace," and the litany was given by Mrs. Beryl Southwick. Mrs. Audrey Price sang two selections, accompanied by Mrs. Beth Eason. Following the meeting, delicious refreshments were served to fifteen fif-teen by the hostess. The next meeting of the club will"be February Feb-ruary 14 at the home of Mrs. Betha Gunther. UTAH R. J. SMITH PURCHASES MAIN HARDWARE R. J. Smith purchased the Main Hardware store on Main street this week. Thomas Wof finden has operated the Business for the past several years. MARRIAGE ANNOUNCED Mr. and Mrs. James Brooks announce the marriage of their daughter, Vonda, to C. R. Jacobs of Bunkerville, Nevada.' The marriage took place January 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The couple cou-ple will make their home in Bunkerville. Mrs. Agnes Lott has purchased the former R, J. Smith home on Main street. Sgt. and Mrs. Grant Smith (Virginia Austin) are visiting with local relatives this 'week. They visited the Salt Lake Temple Tem-ple on Wednesday. Sgt. Smith had been stationed in Missouri with a paratroop unit. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Cook attended a dinner party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Crede Kindred in Provo, honoring Dave Bickner, who is leaving for the service this week. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Goodrich and children, Mrs. Dolores Dro- linger and Miss Jean Goodrich of Provo were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Arvill O. Stone and family. CLASS HOLDS THEATRE PARTY The SDecial Interest class of the First ward held a theatre party at the Scera Theatre in Orem Tuesday evening, under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. Arvil O. Stone and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Worlton. Following the show, "Hollywood Canteen," re freshments were served to it class members by the Scera management, man-agement, under the direction of Victor C. Anderson., Hospital News Richard Sabey, who recently underwent a maflor operation, was removed to his home in Orem January 27. Mrs. Kathryn Booth and baby daughter were removed to their home on January 29. Misses Bessie and Leona Col-ledge Col-ledge of Ogden spent the weekend week-end in Lehi with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lester Colledge. Both girls are members of the A. F. F. Girls' basketball team at Clearfield,"and will accompany the team to California if "they are successful in winning their next game. Mrs. Afton Giles and Mrs. T. F. Kirkham attended a concert of the Utah chapter of the American Ameri-can Guild of Organists in the 18th ward in Salt Lake City Saturday , evening. Alexander Schriner was in charge, and Er-rol Er-rol W. Miller was the organist. Vocal music was furnished by the North 18th ward choir, directed di-rected by Frederick Davis. Harold Har-old Giles, a son of Mrs. Giles, is a member of the choir. Mrs. Irene Burnham and baby son were removed to their home January 31. Mrs. Rex Zimmerman and baby son were removed to their home Friday. Mrs. Genevieve Matthews and baby daughter, who was born January 26, were removed to their home in Pleasant Grove Sunday. Ernest Rothe underwent a major operation Monday, January Jan-uary 29. Miss Renee Houghton under went an appendectomy on Jan uary 29, and was removed to her home Monday. . A daughter was born to Oral and Mary E. Hansen Thursday, February 1. RED CROSS DRIVE OUTLINED Plans for the annual Red Cross drive, which will begin about the first of March, were formulated at a meeting held Wednesday under the direction of Mayor George Lewis. Alvin B. Shepherd, executive secretary and. Bob Bullock, county drive chairman, were the speakers. 22 were present pres-ent at the meeting. The drive is organized as follows: fol-lows: The Lions club will handle the drive in the business district and in the school, with Dr. W. L. Worlton as chairman. The house-to-house campaign will be under the direction of the various women's clubs in the city, with Blanche Turner, president presi-dent of the Social Circle club, as general chairman. The canvass has been divided into . wards, with the club president acting as chairman in each division. First ward: Junior Athenian club. Arlene Keate, chairman. Second ward: Athenian club: Ruia Lewis, chairman, Delia Davis, co-chairman. Third ward: Liahonian 'club. Karma Whimpey, chairman. Fourth ward: Auctus club. Grace Webb, chairman. Her early education was obtained ob-tained in the Lehi Public schools. She completed her high school and college at St. Mary of the Wasatch, Salt Lake City, receiving receiv-ing her A. B. degree.
