Miss Alice Parker, Mrs. Ruby Searles and daughter, and Mrs. Don Searles and baby of American Ameri-can Fork were Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Don Loverldge. Mrs. Alice Phillips, Mrs. Nellie Wanlass and Mrs. Sevilla Jones were entertained at a weiner roast and luncheon in American Fork canyon Friday afternoon by their daughters, Mrs. Ada Robinson, Rob-inson, Mrs. Barta Haslam, and Miss Fay Wanlass. After spending the past five weeks in New York City with her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Webster Decker and children, Mrs. Rodney C. Allred returned to her home last week. Mrs. Decker and new baby, who have been very ill, are now reported re-ported to be recovering satisfactorily. Mr. and Mrs. A. P. Olsen of Salt Lake City visited Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Leon Peet. Ellen Ruth Banks, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Banks, entered en-tered the state school for the blind at Ogden Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Galsford of Bingham spent the week-end In Lehi with Mr. Galsford's mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Galsford. ; Mr. and Mrs. Myron Burgess celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary in Salt Lake City Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Junius Banks attended at-tended a shower at the home of Mrs. J. G. Brockbank in Salt Lake City Monday afternoon, honoring Mrs. Banks' sister, Mrs. Ora Valentine of Park City, who is leaving soon for Oakland, California, where she will see William Glass of that city. Mrs. May Marsh of Alpine accompanied accom-panied Mr. and Mrs. Banks there. Mrs. Martha Linton of Provo spent Monday through Friday of last week visiting with her son, Elmer Jackson. Mr. and Mrs. Jackson accompanied her to her home Friday evening. Mrs. Mary Winn spent Sunday afternoon in Provo with Mr. and Mrs. Leo Sudweeks, returning with them in the evening, when they were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Rasmussen, who spent the remainder of the evening. Mrs. Jennie Nostrum left Wednesday Wed-nesday night for Los Angeles, where she will enjoy a two-weeks vacation visiting with her daughter, daugh-ter, Mrs. Elwin Beck, and her son, Glen Nostrum. Mr. and Mrs. T. N. Allison of Salt Lake . City were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Jackson Wednesday. After dinner, din-ner, Mr. and Mrs. Jackson drove the Allison's to Provo, where they viewed the Geneva steel works and other points of interest in the vicinity. Mrs. Lowell A. Brown entertained enter-tained at dinner Sunday, honoring honor-ing her husband, whose birthday anniversary which occurred in that day. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Ersel Fagan and daughter, daugh-ter, Carol Ann, of American Fork, Mr. and Mrs. John D. Hitchcock and sons, Jerry and Brent, of Salt Lake City, and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Fagan of Lehl. Mr. and Mrs. Paul C. Pack and family of Lindon spent Sunday with Mrs. Pack's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leon Peet. Mr. and Mrs. J. Frank Fagan entertained at a family dinner Friday evening at their home, in honor of their, son, Ersel, who is in furlough from the U. S. army medical corps. Covers were laid for the guest of honor and his wife and daughter, Carol Ann, Mr. and Mrs. John D. Mr. Evans Is a graduate of the Lehi high school. He Joined the National Guard and served In the army for two and one-half years. He was recently given a release for essential -farm work. They will make their home In Lehl. A son was born Sunday in Salt Lake City to Mr. and Mrs. V. M. Stanger of that city. Mrs. Stanger is the former Beth Jackson of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Jackson are the grandparents. Marriages MARRIAGE ANNOUNCED Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Reva LaRee Goates to Rulon J. Fox, the couple cou-ple being united In the Salt Lake Temple Wednesday, September Sep-tember 22. The couple are well known here, Mrs. Fox being manager of the Lehl office of the Mountain States Telephone company, and Mr. Fox being a member of the bishopric in the First ward. They will make their home here. ROBINSON-EVANS Honoring Mr. and Mrs. Grant S. Evans who were married September 14, Mr. and Mrs. Reed H. Robinson, parents of the bride entertained at a reception , in Firmage Hall Thursday evening of last week. Autumn Foliage accentuated with baskets of dahlias, asters, and marigolds formed the colorful color-ful background for the bridal party. The guests were met by Mrs. Hyrum Evans, aunt of the bride. ' . In the receiving line were Mr. and Mrs. Robinson, Mrs. Aaron Evans, mother of the groom, the bride and groom and attendants. The bride was beautiful in a model of embossed marquisette with full train and floor length veil of bride's illusion caught to a crown of seed pearls. Her shoulder corsage was of red rose buds. , Mrs. Thelda E. Hansen of Lehi, sister of the groom, was matron of honor and wore turquoise silk jersey. Attending matrons were Mrs. Vernon - Gardner of Salt Lake City and Mrs. Jack Cook. Bridesmaids - were Miss Mamie MhAllister and Miss Virginia Hansen. Mrs. Gardner and Mrs. Cook wore white; Miss McAllister, McAllis-ter, red and white dotted organdy, and Miss Hansen, white combined with blue nlaid taffeta.' All wore matching corsages cor-sages of red roses. Dean Evans of Lehi acted as best man for his brother. Mrs. Robinson wore a model of midnight blue and Mrs. Evans was attired in black. The balance bal-ance of the evening was enjoyed dancing. In the refreshment room the serving table, covered with a lace cloth, was centered with autumn leaves and flowers with orange princess tapers at either end. Miss Beverly Graff and Miss Helen Bailey poured and assisting in serving were Miss Carol Boley, Miss Louise Beck, Miss Luana Greenwood, and Miss Vernis Hansen. The bride is a graduate of the American Fork high school and has attended the UCLA, the MARRIAGE Mr. and Mrs. Bernell Bateman announce the marriage of their daughter, LaVee, to Michael Kearney, son of Mrs. H. D. Milne of this city. The marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake temple Monday, September 20, with President Stephen L. Chip-man Chip-man officiating. The young couple was attended by Mrs. Bateman, Mrs. Milne and Duane Wofflnden. The bride's 'mother was hostess hos-tess to 150 guests at a bridal shower in the Fourth ward hall Friday evening. The bride wore a blue crepe dress with a corsage cor-sage of red rosebuds and gardenias. gar-denias. Mrs. Bateman was in navy blue, and Mrs. Milne was In beige. Both wore matching corsages. Fall flowers were used throughout through-out the hall. Mrs. Lilleth Peck was in charge of the program, and games which followed. The following program was presented; present-ed; A reading by Miss Afton Devey of Alpine, a vocal duet by Misses Beverly and Bessie Clark of Alpine, a reading Dy Mrs. Lucile Rhodes, a vocal duet by Mrs. Fay Whitby and Mrs. Norma Nor-ma Healy of Alpine, a trombone solo by Miss Relva Larsen of Alpine, Al-pine, accompanied by Miss Bonnie Bon-nie Larsen, and a violin solo by Miss Betty Logsdon, accompanied by Mrs. Marie smitn. Following social games, light refreshments were served. The bride received many lovely gifts. Both young people' are graduates gradu-ates of the Lehi high school,' and are popular members of the younger social set. The bride was employed at the American Fork hospital for a time after her graduation, and has been an operator at the Lehi telephone office during the past year. The young couple will be at home to their friends at their new home in the Fourth ward. MARRIAGE At a prettily arranged home wedding, Miss Donna LaRae Zimmerman became the bride of Daniel Evans at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Zimmerman Friday evening, September 17 at 7:30 p. m. The young couple were united in marriage by Bishop E. B. Garrett of the Fifth ward, in the pres ence of immediate family menr bers. The groom is a son of Mrs. Blanche Evans of this city. , The living room was beautifully beauti-fully decorated with fall flowers. The bride was attired in a black pin-stripe tailored grosgrain suit, matching the groom's wool one. She wore a shoulder corsage cor-sage , of red rosebuds. Black acessories and a white blouse completed her costume. The bride's mother was in black, with a corsage of white rosebuds. The groom's mother wore blue. Her corsage was pink rosebuds. Following the ceremony, a buffet luncheon was served. Later Lat-er in the evening the newlyweds departed for a short trip. , The bride was honored at a kitchen shower by the girls at the Paris company, where the bride has been employed.1 The party was held at the home of Miss Marilyn Vane in Salt Lake City. Both young people are well-known well-known here, having both graduated gradu-ated from the Lehi high school. Their many friends join in wishing wish-ing them happiness. They plan to make their home here. FEW VETERANS BACK FOR FOOTBALL Coach Dean Prior's Lehi Pioneers Pio-neers will have an inexperienced football squad for the most part this year, although a few old players are back this year. The boys who are working out are headed by two regulars of last year, Don Dorton, fullback, and Jay Lambert, halfback, who are co-captains of the team. Others reporting: for the work outs are Gene Evans, Morris Schow, Dick Eddington, J. H. Cooper, Berl Peterson, Alvin Schow, Read Miller, Kenneth Wanlass, Robert Calton, Bruce Gale, and Ralph Larsen. The first game for the local team scheduled is October 8, when they meet Payson on the southern team's home field. Chipman To celebrate their golden wedding wed-ding anniversary, Mr. and Mrs. William Chipman will hold open house Sunday, September 26, from 3 o'clock until 7 o'clock in the evening. ' . They will be assisted in entertaining enter-taining by their three daughters, Miss Ora Jean Chipman, Mrs. J. Tracey Wootton and Mrs. W. D. Eldredge and four grandchildren. Prominent in business activities activi-ties all his life, Mr. Chipman is at present manager of the Chip-man Chip-man Mercantile Company. A native of American Fork he is the son of James Chipman, prominent pioneer fiancier. He was charter president -of the American Fork Lions Club. In his early married life he filled a mission to the Society Island for the LDS Church. . . Mrs. Chipman, a native of Lehi, was the former Jean Trane. She was president of the first district Utah Federation of women's wom-en's Clubs for three years, is a member of the Ladies Literary Club and of the University of Utah Mothers' Club of Salt Lake City. : The couple .were married in Lehi September 25, 1893.
