Annie Carlisle Has 103 Birthday Mrs. Annie Carlisle, a resident of Lehl for many years, who has been residing at the county infirmary for the past few years, celebrated her one hundred'and third birthday anniversary an-niversary last Thursday, July 2. In honor of the occasion Mrs. Sarah E. Gaisford, Mrs. Sarah Knudsen, Mrs. Alex Christofferson, Mrs. Carl Gunther, and Mrs. Christie Chris-tie Willis spent a pleasant afternoon with her. Social chat and refreshments refresh-ments were enjoyed. Mrs. Carlisle came to Lehl In 1915 and lived here until she went to live at the infirmary. She resided in the first ward. She was born in Bullock, Switzerland, Switz-erland, July 2, 1839, the daughter of Joseph Negala and Anna Car-ren. Car-ren. She was the only one of her family to accept the gospel and was baptized into the church August Aug-ust 28, 1871, by Elder Huber. She came to Utah July 4, 1872. She met John Musser and was married to him in 1873. He died in 1890 and In 1902 she married James Carlisle, who died in 1917. Mrs, Carlisle has been a faithful and active LDS church worker, having done much temple and genealogical gen-ealogical work. She had a special book compiled for her In the genealogical gene-alogical library. Mrs. Annie Goates Honored On Birthday Mrs. Annie Goates, one of Lehi's eloved and highly respected older itlzens, celebrated her 77th birth-ay birth-ay anniversary Tuesday. In honor of the occasion the fam-ly fam-ly entertained at a garden party at the home of Dr. and Mrs. W. L. oriton. A delicious luncheon was jrved and a very enjoyable eve-aig eve-aig was spent by the 50 family jembers present. Mrs. Goates was born July 7 JS5 In Orwell, Cambridgeshire igland, a daughter of Elizabeth ollls and James Munns. In 187' t the age of 12 years, she came . America with her parents, trav- ing for 13 days on the water. In 78 she moved to Lehl where she is since resided. She married William Goates Jr. l May 1, 1884, in the Salt Lake En-ownment En-ownment house. Mr. Goates died nrtl 6. 1897. Her children are Mrs. Agnes Wof-nden Wof-nden of Garland; Leo W. Goates ilt Lake City; W, R. Goates, Lo? ngeles, Cal.; Mrs. Robert Fox and Trs. W. L. Worlton, Lehi. She has descendants. Engagement of Lexia Olsen Announced Last Sunday at a tea at their lome hi Salt Lake City, Dr. and .Mrs. Arthur Olsen announced the engagement of their daughter, Miss Lexia De Nae Olsen to Sidney Clif ford Birdsley, of Yuba City, Cal. The marriage will take place after Mr. Birdsley's graduation from an air cadet training school in the lat ter part of July. Miss Olsen is a former University of Utah student and Mr. Birdsley is a graduate of Yuba Junior col' lege and was stationed in Salt Lake last winter. Mrs. Lowell Brown assisted with the pouring at the tea which was attended by approximately 100 guests. FLOYD ERICKSON HOME FROM MISSION Elder Floyd Erickson, son of RishoD and Mrs. Henry Erickson ar rived home last Thursday from the Hawaiian mission field, where he has been serving as a missionary for the past two and one-nan years. He is looking fine and states that he is glad to be home again. He reports many interesting experi ences and enjoyed his mission very much. Floyd's friends are happy to have him home again.
