Books Presented To City Library Seven new books have been placed in the City Library this week by members of the Junior Athenian club and will be available for use by the public. The new books are: "Before Lunch" by Angela Thirkell, pre sented by Mrs. Dorothy Southwick; "Mortimer Brice" by Robert Hick- ens, "The Street of the Fishing Cat" by Foldes, "American Dream" by Michael Foster, "Green Margins" Mar-gins" by ODonnell, "The Next Hundred Years" by C. C Furnas, and "Steps Going Down" by Mc- Intyre. These six books were presented pre-sented by Miss Arleen Goodwin. Members of the Junior Athenian club have decided as one of their projects, to contribute books to the library and a special shelf will be arranged at the library for this purpose. The city librarian reports that stickers will be placed in front of the book, giving the name of the person contributing the book. Various other clubs of the community com-munity are being contacted and urged to do whatever possible they can in building up our library. If members of the community have worthwhile books that they would like to give to the library, this service will be greatly appreciated, appre-ciated, and their name will be placed in the front of the book. The librarian announces that the library will be closed all day Sat urday, February 22, the occasion being be-ing Washington's birthday. Mrs. O- R. Albert and Dean Van Wagoner of this city received word of the death of their niece, Mrs. June Van Wagoner Wag-oner Bloomquist, 32, who passed away at her home in Salt Lake City Saturday at 11 p. m. Mrs. Bloomquist is survived by her husband and two daughters. Funeral services are being conducted con-ducted today (Thursday) at 1:30 p. m. In the Midway First L. D. S. ward chapel. The two Van Wagoner Wag-oner families of this city will attend at-tend the services. A class for N Y A girls of Lehi and American Fork will be held at the high school every Monday and Wednesday at 4:00 p. m. The class will be to instruct , the girls in all phases of recreation. Those regis tered for the class are Nettie Cook, Ora Anderson, Gayle Hacking, and Miriam Lott. There are also seven girls from American Fork enrolled. The Senior boys of the Seminary Semin-ary are entertaining the girls of the class at a banquet Saturday night at 7:30 in the Second ward Relief society rooms. The affair promises to be one of the outstanding outstand-ing social events of the year. The committee, headed by Ralph Roberts, Rob-erts, assisted by Don Evans, Bob Wilson, and Ralph Allred, will arrange ar-range the program and entertainment entertain-ment for the evening. Because it is to be a surprise, the plans for the dinner are being kept under the respective hats of the male members of the class. The General, Science class of the Junior high "school has been moved to a new room on the lower floor. Here therwill be-ppovided with gas so that they can perform experiments experi-ments better in their class room. Local Boys to Fight at P. G. The following boys will fight at an athletic carnival to be held at Pleasant Grove, February 24, 1941: Victor Jones, Eldon Sabey, Victor Mitchell, Boyd Sunderland, Glen Davis, Ralph Jones and Jay Lambert. The annual Gold and Green Ball of the Mutual Improvement association asso-ciation of Lehi stake, held Friday evening in the DansArt, was acclaimed ac-claimed by the large crowd attend-ir.(j attend-ir.(j as one of the most colorful events of the year. The hall was beautifully decorated decor-ated in a color scheme of gold and green- The queen's throne in the nc.th end of the hall was a mass of gold satin and a large heart formed the back of the throne. Charm and royal splendor marked the queen's procession and floor show which featured the affair. Miss Maurine Russon, in a white satin gown, reigned over the ball as queen. A group of Junior Girls preceded the procession making way for the queen and her party. Following the queen were two little pages, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Victor Smith and the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Adam-son. Adam-son. Members of the Lehi Lions club were in Salt Lake City Wednesday, joining with 251 Lions of Utah, In welcoming Karl M Sorrick, International Inter-national President of Lions Clubs, to Utah. President Sorrick held confer ences in his hotel room in the fore noon, attended the organ recital at the Salt Lake tabernacle at noon, had lunch at the University club, visited Governor Maw at the Capi tol, took a trip to Bingham to view the copper workings there and in ! the evening was tendered a banquet at the Newhouse Hotel. Deputy District Governor Joseph S. Robison was a member of the reception committee with District Governor Aura C. Hatch of Provo and members of the Salt Lake ! club. '.
