Mr. and Mrs. Richard Douglas and son, Richard Jr., of Salt Lake City were guests of Mrs. Douglas' parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Stice on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Werner and family left Tuesday morning for their home in Mesa, Arizona, after spending their vacation here with Mrs. Werner's mother, Mrs. Christie Chris-tie Willes and with relatives in American Fork. Mr. and Mrs. George Zimmerman Zimmer-man and sons of Gunnison spent the 4th holiday and the week end here with their parents, Mrs. Richard Rich-ard Norman and Mr. and Mrs. John Zimmerman. Mr. and Mrs. Suel Bushman and children and Mr. and Mrs. J. F. Bradshaw and daughter, Sylvia Jean, attended the parade in Provo on the 4th, then enjoyed an outing in American Fork canyon. Miss Delia Carson was a member of the chorus who presented Handel's Han-del's "Judas Maccabeus" at the College Hall in Provo Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Chrlstofferson, enjoyed a trip through Southern Utah and to the Boulder Dam in Nevada during the 4th and the week end. They spent some time In Cedar City. Rex Thornton of Delta has been spending the past week here with Mr. and Mrs. E. B. Garrett and family. A group of girls enjoyed a delightful de-lightful out of doors party at the Cave Camp in American Fork canyon can-yon last Friday evening. They roasted roast-ed wrinies around a bon-fire and enjoyed a watermelon bust. In the group were Carlyn Chatfield, Zoe Ball, Allene Frank, Mrs. Beth Kelly, Mary Skinner, June Hanson, Na omi Ferguson. Alta Christensen, and Mrs. Delbert Page of Riverton. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Bisscll of Portland, Oregon, arrived here last Wednesday for a visit with Mrs. B.'ssell's mother, Mrs. Polly Giles, arid other relatives. Mr. Bissellwill be here about two weeks and Mrs. Blssell will remain here for a longer visit to care for her mother, who is ill. Mrs. Blssell was formerly Miss Helen Giles of this city. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Barnhart and daughter, Jacqueline, Mr. and Mrs. Delos Durrant and. baby of Castle Gate left Saturday evening for a visit in North Loop, Nebraska, with relatives. En route home they plan to spend two days in Colorado vis iting and fishing. They will be gone about two weeks. Sunday she was entertained at dinner din-ner at the home of her grandparents, grandpar-ents, Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Anderson, and later enjoyed a drive to Salt Lake City. Miss Esther Hutchings returned home Sunday morning, after spending spend-ing the past three weeks in Ely, Nevada, with her aunt, Mrs. Dell Oxborrow and children. Mrs. Ox-borrow Ox-borrow returned to Lehi with her and will spent the summer here. Jimmy Miles, Jack Bradley and Quay Hebrew accompanied them to Lehi and spent Sunday here, returning re-turning to Nevada Monday morning. Mrs. Thomas Trinnaman and Mrs. James Zimmerman attended a breakfast and canyon party at Canyon Can-yon Glen in Provo canyon given by the Peace Officers Auxiliary of Utah County, Wednesday morning. They report a delightful outing. Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Peterson entertained en-tertained at a chicken dinner Sunday Sun-day at their home on State street. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Dean T. Worlton, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Worlton and son, Freddie, of Ocean Park, California; Dan Worlton, Maurine Peterson and the host 'and hostess. Mrs. Sarah E. Gaisford and four grandchildren, Jimmy, Dick, Sally and Darwin Gaisford, and her son, Pete Gaisford, returned Monday evening after enjoying a week end trip to Rupert, Idaho, where they were guests of Mr. and Mrs. K. L. McKenzie. They spent one night at Lake Cleveland while there. They left last Wednesday and returned home Monday evening. Mrs. T. F. Kirkham entertained at a canyon party Tuesday evening at the Cave Camp in American Fork canyon. The party was given in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Worlton Worl-ton of Ocean Park, California. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Worlton, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Worlton, Mr. Dan Worlton, Miss Donna Kirkham, Miss Pauline Worlton, Worl-ton, Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Peterson and the hostess, Mrs. Kirkham. A very enjoyable time was reported by those present. Mrs. Clarence Ball entertained at a miscellaneous shower party last Tuesday evening, complimentary to Mrs. Leo Ball, a recent bride. The evening was delightfully spent in playing progressive games on the lawn, Mrs. Rula Dorton and Mrs. Roberta Larsen winning high score prizes. Later a dainty luncheon was served. Twenty-seven guests were present. Mrs. Ball was assisted in entertaining by her three daugh ters, Mrs. Ida Gray. Mrs. Verla Wadley of Pleasant Grove and Miss Zoe Ball. The bride, who was formerly for-merly Ethel Long, received many beautiful and useful gifts. Happen to Y ou: you the best in Local People Return From Eastern Trip Mr. and Mrs. Alfred F. Adams arrived home last week, after enjoying en-joying a vacation trip through the East. They made the trip in company com-pany with their son, Glendor Adams Ad-ams of Ogden, traveling by way of automobile. In Chicago, Illinois,' they were Joined by their son, Reed, who is laboring as an L. D. S. missionary mis-sionary In the Northern States, and he accompanied them. Before leaving leav-ing Chicago they visited points of interest in that city, Including the great Marshal Fields Museum of Natural History and shopped at the largest department store in the world the Marshal Field's Department Depart-ment Store, visited the beach at Lake Michigan, the aquarium and other points of interest. Next they visited in Cleveland on Lake Erie, where they viewed the oldest ship in the world, known as the "Melbourne," "Mel-bourne," a convict ship built in 1790. They traveled along Lake Erie to Buffalo, then crossed over into Canada via of the Peace Bridge. It is interesting to note that this "Peace Bridge' was built after Canada and the United States had lived side by side in peace for 100 years. They viewed the Niagara Falls from the Canadian side, traveled for several miles in Canada, then traveled to Rochester, New York, then to Palmyra, where they visited vis-ited the Hill Cumorah, the Sacred Grove, Joseph Smith's home and other church historic points of interest. in-terest. They traveled then to New York City, following down the Hudson Hud-son river, passed through Hyde Park, the home of President Roosevelt; visited the Sing Sing prison on the Hudson river and anchored in the New York Harbor with three of the largest ships in the world, including the French Normandy, the British Queen Elizabeth and the Pan-American Pan-American Liner. They enjoyed a cruise out on the Atlantic ocean to the Statue of Liberty, and went to the top of this famous statue. They drove and walked up Fifth Avenue on Broadway, Broad-way, visited the Empire State building, build-ing, Radio City, the Rockefeller Center, went to St. Patrick's Cathedral Ca-thedral and spent some time at the World's Fair. From New York they ferried across to Jersey City, where they visited relatives, then continued their trip to Philadelphia and then to Washington, D. C, where they spent three days sight-seeing. Among points of interest they visited vis-ited here were the White House and the Capitol, the House of Representatives Repre-sentatives and the Senate in session, ses-sion, the new Supreme Court build ing, the Washington Monument, Lincoln Memorial, U. S. Mint, National Na-tional Art Gallery, the Arlington National Cemetery, where the tomb of the Unknown Soldier and Robert' Rob-ert' E. Lee's home is located; the Smithsonian Institute and Mount Vernon, Washington's home. They took Reed back to Muncie, Indiana, where he is laboring at the present time, then continued their trip homeward, visiting in Indianapolis, In-dianapolis, St. LoUiS) Kansas City and Denver. , They report a wonderful vacation. vaca-tion. Miss Marie Erickson, who underwent under-went an operation for the removal of her appendix, was removed home from the hospital Friday. Mrs. Howard Zimmerman and new baby were removed home from the hospital last Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Ashton are proud and happy parents of a lovely baby daughter, born at the local hospital on July 3. They were removed home from the hospital on Tuesday of this week. Mr. and Mrs. Myron Burgess of Alpine are proud parents of a fine baby son, bom on July 4th at the local hospital. The mother, formerly for-merly Miss Margaret Banks of this city, and the new arrival are doing nicely. Mr. and Mrs. Junius Banks are proud grandparents. Gene Wilson was admitted to the hospital Friday for medical treat. He has pneumonia. At last reports he was improving. Miss Grace Carson was in the hospital Tuesday for medical care. Marlin Peterson Peter-son of Granger, Wyoming, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Peterson 0! this city, which was solemnized Monday, July 8, in Provo. Mr. Peterson, known more familiarly fa-miliarly by his friends in this com-munity com-munity as "Buck," is employed at Little America in Wyoming. He operated op-erated the Central Service station here for a -number of years and was an active member of the younger social circle in this community. Both young people have hosts of friends in both communities who are showering them with congratulations congratu-lations and wishes for much future success and happiness. Dr. and Mrs. Elmo Eddington attended at-tended a meeting at the Country Club in Ogden Tuesday evening, held for the purpose of making final fi-nal arrangements for the State Medical convention to be held the last part of August. Dr. Eddington is a member of the scientific committee com-mittee and Mrs. Eddington is a member of the general committee of the Ladies auxiliary to the State Medical Association.
