Mr. and Mrs. Oral W. Evans and three children, LaRae, Patsy and LaMar, and Irvln Dlckerson returned re-turned to Lehl Saturday night from Garland, where Mr. Evans has been employed. They will visit here for several days. The Senior class of the First ward M. I. A. enjoyed a "Fire-side Chat" in the First ward chapel Sunday evening following the regular M. X. A. conjoint meeting. Eldon Harris of Lehl, who has traveled into Alaska Alas-ka on various expeditions for four consecutive summers to study botany bot-any and do research work, gave a very - Interesting and educational talk. With a map he pointed out points of interest in Alaska, showed numerous pictures, a totum pole, garnet stone, ivory tusk and a native na-tive woven basket. Everyone gained a definite knowledge of the geo graphical structure of Alaska, the customs and racial traditions of its people, climatic conditions, industries, indus-tries, animals and plant life. Is planning, for an outstanding visiting day of all parents par-ents to the local schools, Friday, February 17. Committees are now formulating plans for the day. The general scheme Is to acquaint parents par-ents with the aims of present day education and to work out better ways to secure closer cooperation between be-tween parents and teachers in the interest of our children. School will be in session for the first six grades, but in the Junior and senior high school, students will remain home with the exception of a ew who will demonstrate some activities; and parents will report to the various classes attended by their children. The classes will be shortened to accommodate practically prac-tically all the periods of the day during the morning sessions. Luncheon will be served at the Memorial building with the idea in mind to acquaint parents with the fine service of the school hot lunch. Other dishes will be served in addition addi-tion to the regularly served hot dish served the children. A fine educational and entertaining entertain-ing program will be held in the high school auditorium at 1:30 p. m. Superintendent Moffett of Ptot vo City Schools will be the principal speaker. The program commemorating commem-orating P.-T. A. Founders' day will be given by the P.- T. A. music organization. or-ganization. Outstanding among the social affairs af-fairs of the, past week was the miscellaneous mis-cellaneous shower given by Mrs. John Whimpey and Mrs. Maud Glover in compliment to Mrs. Glen Glover, a recent bride. The affair was held in the Second ward Relief Re-lief society rooms last Thursday evening. A continuous program was , given from 9 o'clock p, m. until 11 o'clock. Late in the evening eve-ning dainty refreshments were served. The young bride received many beautiful and useful gifts. About one hundred guests were in attendance. The bride was formerly former-ly Miss Ruth Whimpey. Mrs. Charles Peterson and baby daughter were removed home from the hospital last Thursday. Johnny Meyers, who underwent an operation for appendicitis at the hospital several days ago, was removed re-moved to his home Saturday. John Jackson was removed to his home from the hospital last Wednesday. Wed-nesday. Earl Jackson was removed home on Monday. Both men have been receiving treatment for accident acci-dent injuries. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Moss of American Amer-ican Fork announce the arrival of a baby girl, born at the Lehi hospital hos-pital on Tuesday, January 31. Ivy Christofferson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Christofferson. underwent an operation for appendicitis append-icitis at the local hospital last Thursday. Mrs. Mina Webb, the retiring retir-ing stake president, was the special guest of honor, the occasion being her 63rd birthday anniversary. Twenty guests were seated at the luncheon table, which was beautifully beauti-fully decorated with Valentine favors fa-vors and motifs. Progressive table . games were played, with prizes being won by Mrs. Clara Webb and Mrs. Vivian Knudsem During the luncheon a splendid program was carried out. f Local Items Mrs. Heber J. Mrs. Orville Despain underwent an operation for the removal of her appendix at toe hospital, Tuesday morning. OCCASION AN APPOINTMENT Anderson Lehi, Utah Scouts Receive Badges At Courts of Honor In keeping with Boy Scout Anniversary Anni-versary Week, the Boy Scouts of the Lehi district presented the Sunday Sun-day evening programs held in connection con-nection with their regular Court of Honor in nearly all wards of the stake Sunday evening. In the First ward the program given consisted of talks pertaining to Scout Work by Scouts Ronald Peterson, Glen Powell, Taylor Cox and Calvin Goates.' Calvin's talk was "Why I Am A Boy Scout." Maurice Taylor gave a piano solo and the main address was given by Herman C. Goates. Prizes for the best scouts were awarded to Ronald Peterson, Glen Powell, Taylor Cox and Calvin Goates. The following awards were made: Robert Austin Merit badges in personal health, animal industry, and metal work. Dick Webb Merit badges in per sonal health, public health, and an imal Industry. Warren Bradshaw Merit badges in personal health, public health, and animal Industry. Glen Powell First class badge and merit badges in personal health, public health, and animal industry, Jay Higglnson, Merit badges in public health, personal health, and animal industry. 1 Maurice Taylor Merit badges in bookbinding, scholarship, and animal ani-mal industry. Tenderfoot Ten-derfoot awards to Paul Willes, Gene Klrkham, Berl Peterson, Lloyd Carlton Carl-ton and Ralph Anderson., Second Ward " The program given by the Scouts in the Second ward consisted of a flag ceremony, a saxaphone solo by Harold Giles, a violin solo by Robert Rob-ert Chlpman, and talks by Scout District Chairman Dr. J. G. Jones, and Bishop E. N. Webb. Eleven Scouts were awarded Ten derfoot badges as follows: Jack Lewis, Lew-is, Dick Eddington, Leo Adams, Kenneth Ken-neth Cravens, Reed Miller, Ben. Lewis, Robert Chipman, J. B. Cooper, Denzil Beck and Norman Richards. Four other Scouts have passed requirements for Second Class badges, Harold Giles, Dale Fowler, Eugene Cooper and Ralph Allred. Successful . courts were also held in the Third and Fifth wards and some awards made. Scout Workers Attend Meeting Dr. and Mrs. J. G. Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Taylor, Mr. and Mrs. Byron Whipple, Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Brown, Mr. and Mrs. R. B. Worlton and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Powers from this city attended the banquet at Provo Saturday evening, given in connection with the annual meeting of the Utah National Parks Boy Scout council. The banquet was served at 6 o'clock and the annual meeting commenced at 8 o'clock p. m. A number of Scout officials and work- jers were also present at the meet-,ing meet-,ing from Lehl. Dramatizations in J cubbing, scouting and explorer work featured the general meeting. George fcj. Morris, general superintendent of the M. I. A. of Salt Lake City, was the principal speaker of the evening. Approaching Marriage Is Announced Mrs. D. W. Larsen of this city announces the engagement and coming com-ing marriage of her daughter, Miss Cleo Larsen, and Mr. Clarence J. Sundberg of Sandy. The marriage will be solemnized on Friday, February Feb-ruary 17, in the Mantl L. D. S. temple. Miss Larsen is well-known and well-liked in this community. She has taken a real active part in church and social affairs and has hosts of friends who join in wishing wish-ing her much future happiness and Joy. Mr. Sundberg, too, is a popular member of his community and has many friends extending their congratulations. con-gratulations. They will leave immediately following fol-lowing their marriage for a short honeymoon trip to California, visiting visit-ing places and points of interest in Los Angeles and San Francisco. On their return they will make their home in Sandy. Scouts Join In Recommittal Last evening (Wednesday) the Boy Scouts of the , Lehi district, gathered together in the Fifth ward chapel and took part in the Recommittal Recom-mittal exercises which were conducted con-ducted over Radio Station K S L. This being the birthday of scouting In America, all scouts recommit themselves to the scout oath and laws. The exercises were very impressive. im-pressive. During the evening games, stunts and songs were given by the various troops. UNION MEETING SUNDAY The regular monthly Priesthood, Relief society and Primary Union meeting will be held Sunday at 2 p. m. in the Fifth ward chapel.
